1 Y aconteció a la vuelta del año, en el tiempo que suelen los reyes salir a la guerra, que Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército, y destruyó la tierra de los hijos de Amón, y vino y cercó a Rabá. Mas David estaba en Jerusalén; y Joab batió a Rabá, y la destruyó.

After the end of the year, when kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the army and devastated the land of the Ammonites, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. Joab smote Rabbah and overthrew it.

2 Y David tomó la corona de su rey de encima de su cabeza, y la halló de peso de un talento de oro, y había en ella piedras preciosas; y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Y además de esto sacó de la ciudad un muy gran despojo.

David took their king’s crown from off his head and found that it weighed a talent of gold and that precious stones were in it. It was set upon David’s head. He brought also very much spoil out of the city of Rabbah.

3 S acó también al pueblo que estaba en ella, e hizo señorío sobre ellos haciéndoles trabajar con sierras, y con trillos de hierro, y segures. Lo mismo hizo David a todas las ciudades de los hijos de Amón. Y se volvió David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.

He brought out the people who were in it and set them at cutting with saws, iron wedges, and axes. So David dealt with all the Ammonite cities. And David and all the army returned to Jerusalem.

4 ¶ Después de esto aconteció que se levantó guerra en Gezer con los filisteos; e hirió Sibecai, el husatita a Sipai, del linaje de los gigantes; y fueron humillados.

After this, there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Sippai, of the sons of the giant, and they were subdued.

5 Y volvió a levantarse guerra con los filisteos; e hirió Elhanán hijo de Jair a Lahmi, hermano de Goliat, el geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un rodillo de un telar.

There was war again with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

6 Y volvió a haber guerra en Gat, donde hubo un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en sus pies y seis dedos en sus manos, en total veinticuatro; y también era hijo del gigante.

And again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand and each foot. He also was born to the giant.

7 D enostó él a Israel, mas lo hirió Jonatán, hijo de Simea hermano de David.

And when he reproached and defied Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David’s brother, slew him.

8 E stos fueron hijos del gigante en Gat, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y de sus siervos.

These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fell by the hands of David and his servants.
