1 ¶ Y salido Jesús, se iba del Templo; y se acercaron sus discípulos, para mostrarle los edificios del Templo.

Jesus departed from the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to Him to call His attention to the buildings of the temple and point them out to Him.

2 R espondiendo él, les dijo: ¿Veis todo esto? De cierto os digo, que no será dejada aquí piedra sobre piedra, que no sea destruida.

But He answered them, Do you see all these? Truly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.

3 Y sentándose él en el Monte de las Olivas, se acercaron a él los discípulos aparte, diciendo: Dinos, ¿cuándo serán estas cosas, y qué señal habrá de tu venida, y del fin del siglo?

While He was seated on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately and said, Tell us, when will this take place, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end (the completion, the consummation) of the age?

4 ¶ Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Mirad que nadie os engañe.

Jesus answered them, Be careful that no one misleads you.

5 P orque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo; y a muchos engañarán.

For many will come in (on the strength of) My name '> appropriating the name which belongs to Me], saying, I am the Christ (the Messiah), and they will lead many astray.

6 Y oiréis guerras, y rumores de guerras; mirad que no os turbéis; porque es necesario que todo esto acontezca; mas aún no es el fin.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 P orque se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino; y habrá pestilencias, y hambres, y terremotos por los lugares.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place;

8 Y todas estas cosas, son principio de dolores.

All this is but the beginning of the birth pangs '> intolerable anguish].

9 E ntonces os entregarán para ser afligidos, y os matarán; y seréis aborrecidos de todas las naciones por causa de mi nombre.

Then they will hand you over to suffer affliction and tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

10 M uchos entonces serán escandalizados; y se entregarán unos a otros, y unos a otros se aborrecerán.

And then many will be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert and will stumble and fall away and betray one another and pursue one another with hatred.

11 Y muchos falsos profetas se levantarán y engañarán a muchos.

And many false prophets will rise up and deceive and lead many into error.

12 Y por haberse multiplicado la maldad, la caridad de muchos se enfriará.

And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,

13 M as el que perseverare hasta el fin, éste será salvo.

But he who endures to the end will be saved.

14 Y será predicado este Evangelio del Reino en el mundo entero, por testimonio a todas las naciones; y entonces vendrá el fin.

And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.

15 P or tanto, cuando viereis la abominación de asolamiento, que fue dicha por Daniel profeta, que estará en el lugar santo, (el que lee, entienda).

So when you see the appalling sacrilege, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place—let the reader take notice and ponder and consider and heed —

16 E ntonces los que están en Judea, huyan a los montes;

Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;

17 y el que sobre el terrado, no descienda a tomar algo de su casa;

Let him who is on the housetop not come down and go into the house to take anything;

18 y el que en el campo, no vuelva otra vez a tomar sus vestidos.

And let him who is in the field not turn back to get his overcoat.

19 M as ¡ay de las preñadas, y de las que crían en aquellos días!

And alas for the women who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days!

20 O rad, pues, que vuestra huida no sea en invierno ni en sábado;

Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.

21 p orque habrá entonces gran tribulación, cual no fue desde el principio del mundo hasta ahora, ni será.

For then there will be great tribulation (affliction, distress, and oppression) such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now—no, and never will be.

22 Y si aquellos días no fueran acortados, ninguna carne sería salva; mas por causa de los escogidos, aquellos días serán acortados.

And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would endure and survive, but for the sake of the elect (God’s chosen ones) those days will be shortened.

23 E ntonces, si alguno os dijere: He aquí está el Cristo, o allí, no creáis.

If anyone says to you then, Behold, here is the Christ (the Messiah)! or, There He is!—do not believe it.

24 P orque se levantarán falsos Cristos, y falsos profetas, y darán señales grandes y prodigios; de tal manera que engañarán, si es posible, aun a los escogidos.

For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones).

25 H e aquí os lo he dicho antes.

See, I have warned you beforehand.

26 A sí que, si os dijeren: He aquí en el desierto está, no salgáis; he aquí en las cámaras, no creáis.

So if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness (desert)—do not go out there; if they tell you, Behold, He is in the secret places or inner rooms—do not believe it.

27 P orque como el relámpago que sale del oriente y se muestra hasta el occidente, así será también la venida del Hijo del hombre.

For just as the lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

28 P orque dondequiera que estuviere el cuerpo muerto, allí se juntarán las águilas.

Wherever there is a fallen body (a corpse), there the vultures (or eagles) will flock together.

29 Y luego, después de la tribulación de aquellos días, el sol se oscurecerá, y la luna no dará su lumbre, y las estrellas caerán del cielo, y las virtudes de los cielos serán conmovidas.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30 Y entonces se mostrará la señal del Hijo del hombre en el cielo; y entonces lamentarán todas las tribus de la tierra, y verán al Hijo del hombre que vendrá sobre las nubes del cielo, con grande poder y gloria.

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and beat their breasts and lament in anguish, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 Y enviará sus ángeles con trompeta y gran voz; y juntarán sus escogidos de los cuatro vientos, de un cabo del cielo hasta el otro.

And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect (His chosen ones) from the four winds, from one end of the universe to the other.

32 ¶ Del árbol de la higuera aprended la comparación: Cuando ya su rama se enternece, y las hojas brotan, sabéis que el verano está cerca.

From the fig tree learn this lesson: as soon as its young shoots become soft and tender and it puts out its leaves, you know of a surety that summer is near.

33 A sí también vosotros, cuando viereis todas estas cosas, sabed que está cercano, a las puertas.

So also when you see these signs, all taken together, coming to pass, you may know of a surety that He is near, at the very doors.

34 D e cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación, que todas estas cosas no acontezcan.

Truly I tell you, this generation ( the whole multitude of people living at the same time, in a definite, given period) will not pass away till all these things taken together take place.

35 E l cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

Sky and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

36 P ero del día y hora nadie sabe, ni aun los ángeles de los cielos, sino mi Padre solo.

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

37 M as como en los días de Noé, así será la venida del Hijo del hombre.

As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

38 P orque como eran en los días antes del diluvio, estaban comiendo y bebiendo, tomando mujeres los maridos y dándolas los padres, hasta el día que Noé entró en el arca,

For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah went into the ark,

39 y no conocieron hasta que vino el diluvio y tomó a todos, así será también la venida del Hijo del hombre.

And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away—so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

40 E ntonces estarán dos en el campo; el uno será tomado, y el otro será dejado.

At that time two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.

41 D os mujeres estarán moliendo a un molinillo; la una será tomada, y la otra será dejada.

Two women will be grinding at the hand mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

42 V elad pues, porque no sabéis a qué hora ha de venir vuestro Señor.

Watch therefore '> give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day '> whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming.

43 P ero sabed esto, que si el padre de familia supiera a cuál hora el ladrón había de venir, velaría, y no dejaría minar su casa.

But understand this: had the householder known in what '> night or a morning] watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be undermined and broken into.

44 P or tanto, también vosotros estad apercibidos; porque el Hijo del hombre ha de venir a la hora que no pensáis.

You also must be ready therefore, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.

45 ¿ Quién pues es el siervo fiel y prudente, al cual puso su señor sobre su familia para que les dé alimento a tiempo?

Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?

46 B ienaventurado aquel siervo, al cual, cuando su señor viniere, le hallare haciendo así.

Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is that servant whom, when his master comes, he will find so doing.

47 D e cierto os digo, que sobre todos sus bienes le pondrá.

I solemnly declare to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

48 Y si aquel siervo malo dijere en su corazón: Mi señor se tarda en venir;

But if that servant is wicked and says to himself, My master is delayed and is going to be gone a long time,

49 y comenzare a herir a sus consiervos, y aun a comer y a beber con los borrachos,

And begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken,

50 v endrá el señor de aquel siervo en el día que no espera, y a la hora que no sabe,

The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour of which he is not aware,

51 y le cortará por medio, y pondrá su parte con los hipócritas; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

And will punish him '> cut him up by scourging] and put him with the pretenders (hypocrites); there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
