1 ¶ Estas son las postreras palabras de David. Dijo David hijo de Jessé, dijo aquel varón que fue levantado alto, el ungido del Dios de Jacob, el dulce cantor de Israel:

Now these are the last words of David: David son of Jesse says, and the man who was raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, says,

2 ( El Espíritu del SEÑOR ha hablado por mí, y su palabra ha sido en mi lengua.

The Spirit of the Lord spoke in and by me, and His word was upon my tongue.

3 E l Dios de Israel me ha dictado, el Fuerte de Israel habló): Señoreador de los hombres, justo señoreador en el temor de Dios.

The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me, When one rules over men righteously, ruling in the fear of God,

4 Y como la luz de la mañana cuando sale el sol, de la mañana resplandeciente sin nubes; como resplandor por llovizna sobre la yerba de la tierra:

He dawns on them like the morning light when the sun rises on a cloudless morning, when the tender grass springs out of the earth through clear shining after rain.

5 ¿ No será así mi casa para con Dios? bien que a toda mi salud, y a toda mi voluntad no se hará producir todavía. Mas él ha hecho conmigo pacto perpetuo ordenado en todas las cosas, y será guardado;

Truly does not my house stand so with God? For He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure. For will He not cause to prosper all my help and my desire?

6 m as los de Belial serán todos ellos como espinas arrancadas, las cuales nadie toma con la mano;

But wicked, godless, and worthless lives are all like thorns to be thrust away, because they cannot be taken with the hand.

7 s ino que el que quiere tocar en ellas, se arma de hierro y de asta de lanza, y son quemadas del todo en su lugar.

But the man who touches them arms himself with iron and the shaft of a spear, and they are utterly consumed with fire on the spot.

8 ¶ Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David: El que se sentaba en cátedra de sabiduría, principal de los tres: Adino el eznita, que en una ocasión se halló haber matado ochocientos enemigos.

These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth, a Tahchemonite, chief of the Three, known also as Adino the Eznite; he wielded his spear and went against 800 men, who were slain at one time.

9 D espués de éste fue Eleazar, hijo de Dodo de Ahohi, uno de los tres valientes que estaban con David, cuando desafiaron a los filisteos que se habían juntado allí a la batalla, y subieron los de Israel.

Next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines assembled there for battle, and the men of Israel had departed.

10 E ste, levantándose, hirió a los filisteos, hasta que su mano se cansó, y quedó pegada su mano a la espada. Aquel día el SEÑOR hizo gran salvación; y se volvió el pueblo en pos de él solamente a tomar el despojo.

arose and struck down the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword. The Lord wrought a great deliverance and victory that day; the men returned after him only to take the spoil.

11 D espués de éste fue Sama, hijo de Age, el araita; que habiéndose juntado los filisteos en una aldea, había allí una heredad de tierra llena de lentejas, y el pueblo había huido delante de los filisteos.

Next to was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered at Lehi on a piece of ground full of lentils; and the fled from the Philistines.

12 E l entonces se paró en medio de la heredad de tierra, y la defendió, e hirió a los filisteos; y el SEÑOR hizo una gran salvación.

But he stood in the midst of the ground and defended it and slew the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great victory.

13 E stos tres que eran de los treinta principales descendieron y vinieron en tiempo de la siega a David a la cueva de Adulam; y el campamento de los filisteos estaba puesto en el valle de Refaim.

And three of the thirty chief men went down at harvest time to David in the cave of Adullam, and a troop of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

14 D avid entonces estaba en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba en Belén.

And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

15 Y David tuvo deseo, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber del agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

And David said longingly, Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem by the gate!

16 E ntonces estos tres valientes rompieron por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que estaba a la puerta; y tomaron, y la trajeron a David; mas él no la quiso beber, sino la derramó al SEÑOR, diciendo:

And the three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem by the gate and brought it to David. But he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord.

17 L ejos sea de mí, oh SEÑOR, que yo haga esto. ¿ He de beber yo la sangre de los varones que fueron con peligro de su vida? Y no quiso beberla. Estos tres valientes hicieron esto.

And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, to drink this. Is it not the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives? So he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

18 Y Abisai hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, fue el principal de tres; el cual alzó su lanza contra trescientos, los cuales mató; y tuvo nombre entre los tres.

Now Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He wielded his spear against 300 men and slew them, and won a name beside the Three.

19 E l era el más noble de los tres, y el capitán de ellos; mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

Was he not most renowned of the Three? So he was their captain; however, he did not attain to the Three.

20 D espués, Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de un varón esforzado, grande en hechos, de Cabseel. Este hirió dos leones de Moab: y él mismo descendió, e hirió un león en medio de un foso en el tiempo de la nieve.

And Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many notable acts, slew two lionlike men of Moab. He went down also and slew a lion in a pit on a snowy day.

21 T ambién hirió él a un egipcio, hombre de grande estatura; y tenía el egipcio una lanza en su mano; mas descendió a él con un palo, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con su propia lanza.

And he slew an Egyptian, a handsome man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff, snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew the man with his own spear.

22 E sto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y tuvo nombre entre los tres valientes.

These things Benaiah son of Jehoiada did, and won a name beside the three mighty men.

23 D e los treinta fue el más noble; pero no llegó a los tres primeros. Y lo puso David en su consejo.

He was more renowned than the Thirty, but he attained not to the Three. David set him over his guard or council.

24 A sael hermano de Joab fue de los treinta; Elhanán hijo de Dodo de Belén;

Asahel brother of Joab was one of the Thirty; then Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

25 S ama de Harodi, Elica de Harodi;

Shammah of Harod, Elika of Harod,

26 H eles de Palti, Ira, hijo de Iques, de Tecoa;

Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh of Tekoa,

27 A biezer de Anatot, Mebunai de Husa;

Abiezer of Anathoth, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28 S almón de Hahoh, Maharai de Netofat;

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai of Netophah,

29 H eleb hijo de Baana de Netofat, Itai hijo de Ribai de Gabaa de los hijos de Benjamín;

Heleb son of Baanah of Netophah, Ittai son of Ribai of Gibeah of the Benjamites.

30 B enaía, el piratonita, Hidai del arroyo de Gaas;

Benaiah of Pirathon, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

31 A bi-albón de Arbat, Azmavet de Barhum;

Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

Eliahba of Shaalbon, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

Eliphelet son of Ahasbai, son of Maacah, Eliam son of Ahithophel of Giloh,

35 H esrai del Carmelo, Paarai de Arbi;

Hezro (Hezrai) of Carmel, Paarai the Arbite,

36 I gal hijo de Natán de Soba, Bani de Gadi;

Igal son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

37 S elec de Amón, Naharai de Beerot, escudero de Joab hijo de Sarvia;

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai of Beeroth, armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,

Uriah the Hittite—thirty-seven in all.
