1 A sí que el rey Salomón fue rey sobre todo Israel.

King Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 Y éstos fueron los príncipes que tuvo: Azarías hijo de Sadoc, el sacerdote;

These were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok was the priest;

3 E lihoref y Ahías, hijos de Sisa, los escribas; Josafat hijo de Ahilud, el escritor de las crónicas;

Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha, were secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;

4 B enaía hijo de Joiada era sobre el ejército; y Sadoc y Abiatar eran los sacerdotes;

Benaiah son of Jehoiada commanded the army; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

5 A zarías hijo de Natán era sobre los gobernadores; Zabud hijo de Natán era el sacerdote, compañero especial del rey;

Azariah son of Nathan was over the officers; Zabud son of Nathan was priest and the king’s friend and private advisor;

6 y Ahisar era mayordomo; y Adoniram hijo de Abda era sobre el tributo.

Ahishar was in charge of the palace; and Adoniram son of Abda was in charge of the forced labor.

7 Y tenía Salomón doce gobernadores sobre todo Israel, los cuales mantenían al rey y a su casa. Cada uno de ellos estaba obligado a abastecer por un mes en el año.

Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who secured provisions for the king and his household; each man had to provide for a month in a year.

8 Y éstos son los nombres de ellos: el hijo de Hur en el monte de Efraín;

These were their names: Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;

9 e l hijo de Decar, en Macaz, en Saalbim, en Bet-semes, en Elón, y en Bet-hanán;

Ben-deker, in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan;

10 e l hijo de Hesed, en Arubot; éste tenía también a Soco y toda la tierra de Hefer.

Ben-hesed, in Arubboth (to him belonged Socoh and all the land of Hepher);

11 E l hijo de Abinadab, en todos los términos de Dor; éste tenía por mujer a Tafat hija de Salomón;

Ben-abinadab, in Naphoth-dor (he had Taphath, Solomon’s daughter, as wife);

12 B aana hijo de Ahilud, en Taanac y Meguido, y en toda Bet-seán, que es cerca de Saretán, abajo de Jezreel, desde Bet-seán hasta Abel-mehola, y hasta el otro lado de Jocmeam;

Baana son of Ahilud, in Taanach, Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah as far as beyond Jokmeam;

13 e l hijo de Geber, en Ramot de Galaad; éste tenía también las ciudades de Jair hijo de Manasés, las cuales estaban en Galaad; tenía también la provincia de Argob, que estaba en Basán, sesenta grandes ciudades con muro y cerraduras de bronce;

Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (to him belonged the villages of Jair son of Manasseh which are in Gilead, also the region of Argob which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars);

14 A hinadab hijo de Iddo, en Mahanaim;

Ahinadab son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;

15 A himaas en Neftalí; éste tomó también por mujer a Basemat hija de Salomón.

Ahimaaz, in Naphtali (he had taken Basemath, Solomon’s daughter, as his wife);

16 B aana hijo de Husai, en Aser y en Alot;

Baana son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;

17 J osafat hijo de Parúa, en Isacar;

Jehoshaphat son of Paruah, in Issachar;

18 S imei hijo de Ela, en Benjamín;

Shimei son of Ela, in Benjamin;

19 G eber hijo de Uri, en la tierra de Galaad, y en la tierra de Sehón rey de los amorreos, y de Og rey de Basán; y además de éstos había un gobernador general en toda la tierra.

Geber son of Uri, in Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan; only one officer was over all the country.

20 L os de Judá y de Israel eran muchos, como la arena que está junto al mar en multitud, comiendo y bebiendo y alegrándose.

Judah and Israel were many, like the sand which is by the sea in multitude; they ate, drank, and rejoiced.

21 ¶ Y Salomón señoreaba sobre todos los reinos, desde el río hasta la tierra de los filisteos, hasta el término de Egipto; y traían presentes, y sirvieron a Salomón todos los días que vivió.

Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt; they brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 Y la despensa de Salomón era cada día de treinta coros de flor de harina, y sesenta coros de harina.

Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, sixty measures of meal,

23 D iez bueyes engordados, y veinte bueyes de pasto, y cien ovejas; sin los ciervos, cabras, búfalos, y aves engordados.

Ten fat oxen, twenty pasture-fed cattle, a hundred sheep, besides harts, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl of choice kinds.

24 P orque él señoreaba en toda la región que estaba al otro lado del río y desde Tifsa hasta Gaza, sobre todos los reyes del otro lado del río; y tuvo paz por todos lados en derredor suyo.

For he had dominion over all the region west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, over all the kings west of the River, and he had peace on all sides around him.

25 Y Judá e Israel vivían seguros, cada uno debajo de su vid y debajo de su higuera, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, todos los días de Salomón.

Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba, all of Solomon’s days.

26 T enía además de esto Salomón cuarenta mil caballos en sus caballerizas para sus carros, y doce mil caballos de cabalgar.

Solomon also had 40, 000 stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12, 000 horsemen.

27 Y estos gobernadores mantenían al rey Salomón, y a todos los que a la mesa del rey Salomón venían, cada uno su mes; y hacían que nada faltara.

And those officers provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to his table, every man in his month; they let nothing be lacking.

28 Y traían también cebada y paja para los caballos, y para las bestias de carga, al lugar donde él estaba, cada uno conforme al cargo que tenía.

Barley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds they brought to the place where it was needed, each according to his assignment.

29 Y dio Dios a Salomón sabiduría, e inteligencia muy grande, y magnanimidad de corazón, como la arena que está a la orilla del mar.

And God gave Solomon exceptionally much wisdom and understanding, and breadth of mind like the sand of the seashore.

30 Q ue fue mayor la sabiduría de Salomón que la de todos los hijos del oriente, y que toda la sabiduría de los egipcios.

Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the people of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 Y aun fue más sabio que todos los hombres; más que Etán, el ezraíta, y que Hemán, Calcol y Darda, hijos de Mahol; y fue nombrado entre todas las naciones de alrededor.

For he was wiser than all other men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. His fame was in all the nations round about.

32 Y propuso tres mil proverbios; y sus canciones fueron mil cinco.

He also originated 3, 000 proverbs, and his songs were 1, 005.

33 T ambién disertó de los árboles, desde el cedro del Líbano hasta el hisopo que nace en la pared. Asimismo disertó de los animales, de las aves, de las serpientes, y de los peces.

He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall; he spoke also of beasts, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.

34 Y venían de todos los pueblos a oír la sabiduría de Salomón, y de todos los reyes de la tierra, donde había llegado la fama de su sabiduría.

Men came from all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
