1 P orque he aquí que el Señor DIOS de los ejércitos quita de Jerusalén y de Judá al sustentador y la sustentadora, todo sustento de pan y todo socorro de agua;

For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread and the whole stay of water,

2 e l valiente, y el hombre de guerra, el juez, y el profeta, el adivino, y el anciano;

The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, the one who foretells by divination and the old man,

3 e l capitán de cincuenta, y el hombre de respeto, y el consejero, y el artífice excelente, y el sabio de elocuencia.

The captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counselor and the expert craftsman and the skillful enchanter.

4 Y les pondrá niños por príncipes, y muchachos serán sus señores.

And I will make boys their princes, and with childishness shall they rule over them.

5 Y el pueblo hará violencia los unos a los otros, cada cual contra su vecino; el niño se levantará contra el viejo, y el villano contra el noble.

And the people shall be oppressed, each one by another, and each one by his neighbor; the child shall behave himself proudly and with insolence against the old man, and the lowborn against the honorable.

6 C uando alguno tomare de la mano a su hermano, de la familia de su padre, y le dijere: ¿Qué vestido tienes? Tú serás nuestro príncipe, y sea en tu mano esta ruina;

When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, You have a robe, you shall be our judge and ruler, and this heap of ruins shall be under your control—

7 é l jurará aquel día, diciendo: No tomaré ese cuidado; porque en mi casa ni hay pan, ni qué vestir; no me hagáis príncipe del pueblo.

In that day he will answer, saying, I will not be a healer and one who binds up; I am not a physician. For in my house is neither bread nor clothing; you shall not make me judge and ruler of the people.

8 P ues arruinada está Jerusalén, y Judá ha caído; porque la lengua de ellos y sus obras han sido contra el SEÑOR, para irritar los ojos de su majestad.

For Jerusalem is ruined and Judah is fallen, because their speech and their deeds are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of His glory and defy His glorious presence.

9 L a prueba del rostro de ellos los convence; que como Sodoma predican su pecado, no lo disimulan. ¡Ay del alma de ellos! Porque amontonaron mal para sí.

Their respecting of persons and showing of partiality witnesses against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil.

10 D ecid al justo que le irá bien, porque comerá de los frutos de sus manos.

Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

11 ¡ Ay del impío! Mal le irá, porque según las obras de sus manos le será pagado.

Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with them, for what their hands have done shall be done to them.

12 L os opresores de mi pueblo son muchachos, y mujeres se enseñorearon de él. Pueblo mío, los que te guían te engañan, y tuercen la carrera de tus caminos.

As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people, your leaders cause you to err, and they confuse (destroy and swallow up) the course of your paths.

13 E l SEÑOR está en pie para litigar, y está para juzgar a los pueblos.

The Lord stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples and His people.

14 E l SEÑOR vendrá a juicio contra los ancianos de su pueblo, y contra sus príncipes; porque vosotros habéis devorado la viña, y el despojo del pobre está en vuestras casas.

The Lord enters into judgment with the elders of His people and their princes: For you have devoured the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

15 ¿ Qué pensáis vosotros que majáis a mi pueblo, y moléis las caras de los pobres? Dice el Señor DIOS de los ejércitos.

What do you mean by crushing My people and grinding the faces of the poor? says the Lord God of hosts.

16 A simismo dice el SEÑOR: Por cuanto las hijas de Sion se ensoberbecen, y andan con cuello erguido y los ojos descompuestos; y cuando andan, van como danzando, y haciendo son con los pies;

Moreover, the Lord said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks and with undisciplined (flirtatious and alluring) eyes, tripping along with mincing and affected gait, and making a tinkling noise with their feet,

17 p or tanto, pelará el Señor la mollera de las hijas de Sion, y el SEÑOR descubrirá sus vergüenzas.

Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will cause them to be stripped naked.

18 A quel día quitará el Señor el atavío del calzado, y las redecillas, y las lunetas;

In that day the Lord will take away the finery of their tinkling anklets, the caps of network, the crescent head ornaments,

19 l os collares, los joyeles, y los brazaletes;

The pendants, the bracelets or chains, and the spangled face veils and scarfs,

20 l as escofietas, y los atavíos de las piernas, los partidores del pelo, los pomitos de olor, y los zarcillos;

The headbands, the short ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume boxes, the amulets or charms,

21 l os anillos, y los joyeles de las narices;

The signet rings and nose rings,

22 l as ropas de gala, los mantoncillos, los velos, y los alfileres;

The festal robes, the cloaks, the stoles and shawls, and the handbags,

23 l os espejos, los pañizuelos, las gasas, y los tocados.

The hand mirrors, the fine linen, the turbans, and the veils.

24 Y será que en lugar de los perfumes aromáticos vendrá hediondez; y desgarrón en lugar de cinta; y calvicie en lugar de la compostura del cabello; y en lugar de faja ceñimiento de cilicio; y quemadura en vez de hermosura.

And it shall come to pass that instead of the sweet odor of spices there shall be the stench of rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; and searing instead of beauty.

25 T us varones caerán a espada, y tu fuerza en la guerra.

Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty men in battle.

26 S us puertas se entristecerán y enlutarán, y ella, desamparada, se sentará en tierra.

And gates shall lament and mourn; and she, being ruined and desolate, shall sit upon the ground.
