1 ¶ Hubo un varón del monte de Efraín, que se llamaba Micaía.

There was a man of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah.

2 E l cual dijo a su madre: Los mil cien siclos de plata que te fueron hurtados, por lo que tú maldecías oyéndolo yo, he aquí que yo tengo este dinero; yo lo había tomado. Entonces la madre dijo: Bendito seas del SEÑOR, hijo mío.

And he said to his mother, The 1, 100 shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed and also spoke about in my hearing, behold, I have the silver with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be you by the Lord, my son!

3 Y luego que él devolvió a su madre los mil cien siclos de plata, su madre dijo: Yo he dedicado este dinero al SEÑOR de mi mano para ti, hijo mío, para que hagas una imagen de talla y una de fundición; ahora, pues, yo te lo devuelvo.

He restored the 1, 100 shekels of silver to his mother, and she said, I had truly dedicated the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will restore it to you.

4 M as él devolvió a su madre el dinero, tomó su madre doscientos siclos de plata, y los dio al fundidor; y él le hizo de ellos una imagen de talla y una de fundición, la cual fue puesta en casa de Micaía.

So when he restored the money to his mother, she took 200 pieces of silver and gave them to the silversmith, who made of it a graven image and a molten image; and they were in the house of Micah.

5 Y tuvo este hombre Micaía burdel de idolatría, y se hizo hacer efod y terafín (los vasos, vestidos e instrumentos pertenecientes al culto idolátrico), y consagró uno de sus hijos; y le fue por sacerdote.

And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod and teraphim and dedicated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 E n estos días no había rey en Israel; cada uno hacía como mejor le parecía.

In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.

7 ¶ Y había un joven de Belén de Judá, de la familia de Judá, el cual era levita; y peregrinaba allí.

And there was a young man in Bethlehem of Judah, of the family of Judah, who was a Levite; and he sojourned there.

8 E ste varón había partido de la ciudad de Belén de Judá, para ir a vivir donde hallara lugar; y llegando al monte de Efraín, vino a casa de Micaía, para de allí hacer su camino.

And the man departed from the town of Bethlehem in Judah to sojourn where he could find a place, and as he journeyed he came to the hill country of Ephraim to the house of Micah.

9 Y Micaía le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes? Y él le respondió: Soy levita de Belén de Judá, y voy a vivir donde hallare lugar.

And Micah said to him, From where do you come? And he said to him, I am a Levite of Bethlehem in Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

10 E ntonces Micaía le dijo: Quédate en mi casa, y me serás en lugar de padre y sacerdote; y yo te daré diez siclos de plata por año, y el ordinario de vestidos, y tu comida. Y el levita se quedó.

And Micah said to him, Dwell with me and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver each year, a suit of clothes, and your living. So the Levite went in.

11 A cordó, pues, el levita en morar con aquel hombre, y él lo tenía como a uno de sus hijos.

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, and the young man was to Micah as one of his sons.

12 Y Micaía consagró al levita, y aquel joven le servía de sacerdote, y estaba en casa de Micaía.

And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest and was in the house of Micah.

13 Y Micaía dijo: Ahora sé que el SEÑOR me hará bien, pues que el levita es hecho mi sacerdote.

Then said Micah, Now I know that the Lord will favor me, since I have a Levite to be my priest.
