1 H abía un hombre de la región montañosa de Efraín, llamado Micaía.

There was a man of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah.

2 Y él dijo a su madre: “Las 1, 100 monedas de plata que te quitaron, acerca de las cuales proferiste una maldición a mis oídos, mira, esa plata está en mi poder; yo la tomé.” “Bendito sea mi hijo por el Señor,” le dijo su madre.

And he said to his mother, The 1, 100 shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed and also spoke about in my hearing, behold, I have the silver with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be you by the Lord, my son!

3 E ntonces él devolvió las 1, 100 monedas de plata a su madre, y su madre dijo: “Yo de corazón dedico la plata de mi mano al Señor por mi hijo, para hacer una imagen tallada y una de fundición; ahora, por tanto, yo te las devuelvo.”

He restored the 1, 100 shekels of silver to his mother, and she said, I had truly dedicated the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will restore it to you.

4 C uando él devolvió la plata a su madre, su madre tomó 200 monedas de plata y se las dio al platero que las convirtió en una imagen tallada y una de fundición, las cuales quedaron en casa de Micaía.

So when he restored the money to his mother, she took 200 pieces of silver and gave them to the silversmith, who made of it a graven image and a molten image; and they were in the house of Micah.

5 Y este hombre Micaía tenía un santuario. Hizo un efod e ídolos domésticos, y consagró a uno de sus hijos para que fuera su sacerdote.

And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod and teraphim and dedicated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 E n aquellos días no había rey en Israel. Cada uno hacía lo que le parecía bien ante sus propios ojos.

In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.

7 H abía un joven de Belén (Casa del Pan) de Judá, de la familia de Judá, que era Levita y extranjero allí.

And there was a young man in Bethlehem of Judah, of the family of Judah, who was a Levite; and he sojourned there.

8 Y el hombre salió de la ciudad, de Belén de Judá, para residir donde encontrara lugar; y mientras proseguía su camino, llegó a la región montañosa de Efraín, a la casa de Micaía.

And the man departed from the town of Bethlehem in Judah to sojourn where he could find a place, and as he journeyed he came to the hill country of Ephraim to the house of Micah.

9 “ ¿De dónde vienes?” le pregunto Micaía. “Soy un Levita de Belén de Judá,” le respondió él; “y voy a residir donde encuentre lugar.”

And Micah said to him, From where do you come? And he said to him, I am a Levite of Bethlehem in Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

10 E ntonces Micaía le dijo: “Quédate conmigo y sé padre y sacerdote para mí, y yo te daré diez monedas de plata por año, el vestido y la comida.” Entonces el Levita entró.

And Micah said to him, Dwell with me and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver each year, a suit of clothes, and your living. So the Levite went in.

11 E l Levita consintió en quedarse con el hombre, y el joven fue para él como uno de sus hijos.

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, and the young man was to Micah as one of his sons.

12 M icaía consagró al Levita, y el joven vino a ser su sacerdote, y vivió en la casa de Micaía.

And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest and was in the house of Micah.

13 E ntonces Micaía dijo: “Ahora sé que el Señor me prosperará, porque tengo un Levita por sacerdote.”

Then said Micah, Now I know that the Lord will favor me, since I have a Levite to be my priest.
