1 E stos son los territorios que los Israelitas recibieron como heredad en la tierra de Canaán, los cuales les repartieron como heredad el sacerdote Eleazar y Josué, hijo de Nun, y las cabezas de familias de las tribus de los Israelitas.

These are the inheritances in the land of Canaan distributed to the Israelites by Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of their tribes.

2 R epartieron por suerte su heredad a las nueve tribus y a la media tribu, tal como el Señor había ordenado por medio de Moisés.

Their inheritance was by lot, as the Lord commanded Moses, for the nine and one-half tribes.

3 P ues Moisés había dado la heredad de las dos tribus (Rubén y Gad) y de la media tribu (Manasés) al otro lado del Jordán; pero no dio heredad entre ellos a los Levitas.

For Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them,

4 P orque los hijos de José eran dos tribus, Manasés y Efraín. Ellos no dieron a los Levitas ninguna porción en su tierra, sino ciudades donde habitar, con sus tierras de pasto para sus ganados y para sus posesiones.

For the people of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. And no part was given in the land to the Levites except cities in which to live, with their pasturelands for their livestock and for their possessions.

5 T al como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés, así hicieron los Israelitas, y repartieron la tierra. La Heredad de Caleb

As the Lord commanded Moses, so the Israelites did, and they divided the land.

6 E ntonces los hijos de Judá vinieron a Josué en Gilgal, y Caleb, hijo de Jefone el Cenezeo, le dijo: “Tú sabes lo que el Señor dijo a Moisés, hombre de Dios, acerca de ti y de mí en Cades Barnea.

Then the people of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning me and you in Kadesh-barnea.

7 Y o tenía cuarenta años cuando Moisés, siervo del Señor, me envió de Cades Barnea a reconocer la tierra, y le informé como yo lo sentía en mi corazón.

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to scout out the land. And I brought him a report as it was in my heart.

8 S in embargo, mis hermanos que subieron conmigo, hicieron atemorizar el corazón del pueblo. Pero yo seguí plenamente al Señor mi Dios.

But my brethren who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God.

9 Y aquel día Moisés juró y dijo: ‘Ciertamente, la tierra que ha pisado tu pie será herencia tuya y de tus hijos para siempre, porque has seguido plenamente al Señor mi Dios.’

And Moses swore on that day, Surely the land on which your feet have walked shall be an inheritance to you and your children always, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.

10 E l Señor me ha permitido vivir, tal como prometió, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el día en que el Señor habló estas palabras a Moisés, cuando Israel caminaba en el desierto; así que ahora tengo ochenta y cinco años.

And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while the Israelites wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old.

11 T odavía estoy tan fuerte como el día en que Moisés me envió. Como era entonces mi fuerza, así es ahora mi fuerza para la guerra, y para salir y para entrar.

Yet I am as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so is my strength now for war and to go out and to come in.

12 A hora pues, dame esta región montañosa de la cual el Señor habló aquel día, porque tú oíste aquel día que allí había Anaceos con grandes ciudades fortificadas. Tal vez el Señor esté conmigo y los expulsaré como el Señor ha dicho.”

So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke that day. For you heard then how the Anakim were there and that the cities were great and fortified; if the Lord will be with me, I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.

13 Y Josué lo bendijo, y dio Hebrón por heredad a Caleb, hijo de Jefone.

Then Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

14 P or tanto, Hebrón vino a ser hasta hoy heredad de Caleb, hijo de Jefone el Cenezeo, porque siguió plenamente al Señor, Dios de Israel.

So Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel.

15 Y el nombre de Hebrón antes era Quiriat Arba (la ciudad de Arba). Pues Arba era el hombre más grande entre los Anaceos. Entonces la tierra descansó de la guerra.

The name of Hebron before was Kiriath-arba. This Arba was the greatest of the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
