1 O h Dios, ¿por qué nos has rechazado para siempre ? ¿ Por qué se enciende Tu ira contra las ovejas de Tu prado ?

O God, why do You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger burn and smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

2 A cuérdate de Tu congregación, la que adquiriste desde los tiempos antiguos, La que redimiste para que fuera la tribu de Tu heredad, Y de este Monte Sion donde has habitado.

remember Your congregation which You have acquired of old, which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your heritage; remember Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.

3 D irige Tus pasos hacia las ruinas eternas; Todo lo que hay en el santuario lo ha dañado el enemigo.

Direct Your feet to the perpetual ruins and desolations; the foe has devastated and desecrated everything in the sanctuary.

4 T us adversarios han rugido en medio de Tu lugar de reunión; Han puesto sus estandartes por señales.

In the midst of Your Holy Place Your enemies have roared; they set up their own emblems for signs.

5 P arece como si alguien hubiera levantado El hacha en espeso bosque.

They seemed like men who lifted up axes upon a thicket of trees to make themselves a record.

6 Y ahora, toda su obra de talla Hacen pedazos con hachas y martillos.

And then all the carved wood of the Holy Place they broke down with hatchets and hammers.

7 H an quemado Tu santuario hasta los cimientos; Han profanado la morada de Tu nombre.

They have set Your sanctuary on fire; they have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name by casting it to the ground.

8 D ijeron en su corazón: “Arrasémoslos por completo.” Han quemado todos los santuarios de Dios en la tierra.

They said in their hearts, Let us make havoc altogether. They have burned up all God’s meetinghouses in the land.

9 N o vemos nuestras señales; Ya no queda profeta, Ni hay entre nosotros quien sepa hasta cuándo.

We do not see our symbols; there is no longer any prophet, neither does any among us know for how long.

10 ¿ Hasta cuándo, oh Dios, blasfemará el adversario ? ¿Despreciará el enemigo Tu nombre para siempre ?

O God, how long is the adversary to scoff and reproach? Is the enemy to blaspheme and revile Your name forever?

11 ¿ Por qué retiras Tu mano, Tu diestra ? ¡ Sácala de dentro de Tu seno, destrúye los!

Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? Draw it out of Your bosom and consume them!

12 C on todo, Dios es mi rey desde la antigüedad, El que hace obras de salvación en medio de la tierra.

Yet God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

13 T ú dividiste el mar con Tu poder; Quebraste las cabezas de los monstruos en las aguas.

You did divide the Sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the dragons in the waters.

14 T ú aplastaste las cabezas de Leviatán; Lo diste por comida a los moradores del desierto.

You crushed the heads of Leviathan (Egypt); You did give him as food for the creatures inhabiting the wilderness.

15 T ú abriste fuentes y torrentes; Tú secaste ríos inagotables.

You did cleave open fountains and streams; You dried up mighty, ever-flowing rivers (the Jordan).

16 T uyo es el día, Tuya es también la noche; Tú has preparado la lumbrera y el sol.

The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have established the light and the sun.

17 T ú has establecido todos los términos de la tierra; Tú has hecho el verano y el invierno.

You have fixed all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

18 A cuérdate de esto, Señor: que el enemigo ha blasfemado, Y que un pueblo insensato ha despreciado Tu nombre.

remember how the enemy has scoffed, O Lord, and reproached You, and how a foolish and impious people has blasphemed Your name.

19 N o entregues a las fieras el alma de Tu tórtola; No olvides para siempre la vida de Tus afligidos.

Oh, do not deliver the life of your turtledove to the wild beast (to the greedy multitude); forget not the life of Your poor forever.

20 M ira el pacto, Señor, Porque los lugares tenebrosos de la tierra están llenos de moradas de violencia.

Have regard for the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.

21 N o vuelva avergonzado el oprimido; Alaben Tu nombre el afligido y el necesitado.

Oh, let not the downtrodden return in shame; let the oppressed and needy praise Your name.

22 L evántate, oh Dios, defiende Tu causa; Acuérdate de cómo el necio Te injuria todo el día.

Arise, O God, plead Your own cause; remember how the foolish and impious man scoffs and reproaches You day after day and all day long.

23 N o Te olvides del vocerío de Tus adversarios, Del tumulto de los que se levantan contra Ti, que sube continuamente.

Do not forget the voices of Your adversaries, the tumult of those who rise up against You, which ascends continually.
