1 “ Y sucederá que si obedeces diligentemente al Señor tu Dios, cuidando de cumplir todos Sus mandamientos que yo te mando hoy, el Señor tu Dios te pondrá en alto sobre todas las naciones de la tierra.

If you will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

2 Y todas estas bendiciones vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán, si obedeces al Señor tu Dios:

And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God.

3 B endito serás en la ciudad, y bendito serás en el campo.

Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the field.

4 B endito el fruto de tu vientre, el producto de tu suelo, el fruto de tu ganado, el aumento de tus vacas y las crías de tus ovejas.

Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock.

5 B enditas serán tu canasta y tu artesa.

Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading trough.

6 B endito serás cuando entres, y bendito serás cuando salgas.

Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out.

7 “ El Señor hará que los enemigos que se levanten contra ti sean derrotados delante de ti; saldrán contra ti por un camino y huirán delante de ti por siete caminos.

The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

8 E l Señor mandará que la bendición sea contigo en tus graneros y en todo aquello en que pongas tu mano, y te bendecirá en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouse and in all that you undertake. And He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

9 T e establecerá el Señor como pueblo santo para sí, como te juró, si guardas los mandamientos del Señor tu Dios y andas en Sus caminos.

The Lord will establish you as a people holy to Himself, as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.

10 E ntonces verán todos los pueblos de la tierra que sobre ti es invocado el nombre del Señor; y te temerán.

And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.

11 E l Señor te hará abundar en bienes, en el fruto de tu vientre, en el fruto de tu ganado y en el producto de tu suelo, en la tierra que el Señor juró a tus padres que te daría.

And the Lord shall make you have a surplus of prosperity, through the fruit of your body, of your livestock, and of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.

12 E l Señor abrirá para ti Su buen tesoro, los cielos, para dar lluvia a tu tierra a su tiempo y para bendecir toda la obra de tu mano; y tú prestarás a muchas naciones, pero no tomarás prestado.

The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

13 E l Señor te pondrá a la cabeza y no a la cola, sólo estarás encima y nunca estarás debajo, si escuchas los mandamientos del Señor tu Dios que te ordeno hoy, para que los guardes cuidadosamente.

And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.

14 N o te desvíes de ninguna de las palabras que te ordeno hoy, ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para ir tras otros dioses y servirles. Consecuencias de la Desobediencia

And you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15 “ Pero sucederá que si no obedeces al Señor tu Dios, y no guardas todos Sus mandamientos y estatutos que hoy te ordeno, vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones y te alcanzarán:

But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you:

16 “ Maldito serás en la ciudad, y maldito serás en el campo.

Cursed shall you be in the city and cursed shall you be in the field.

17 “ Malditas serán tu canasta y tu artesa.

Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading trough.

18 “ Maldito el fruto de tu vientre y el producto de tu suelo, el aumento de tu ganado y las crías de tu rebaño.

Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, of your land, of the increase of your cattle and the young of your sheep.

19 “ Maldito serás cuando entres y maldito serás cuando salgas.

Cursed shall you be when you come in and cursed shall you be when you go out.

20 “ El Señor enviará sobre ti maldición, confusión y censura en todo lo que emprendas, hasta que seas destruido y hasta que perezcas rápidamente, a causa de la maldad de tus hechos, porque Me has abandonado.

The Lord shall send you curses, confusion, and rebuke in every enterprise to which you set your hand, until you are destroyed, perishing quickly because of the evil of your doings by which you have forsaken me.

21 E l Señor hará que la peste se te pegue hasta que te haya consumido de sobre la tierra adonde vas a entrar para poseerla.

The Lord will make the pestilence cling to you until He has consumed you from the land into which you go to possess.

22 T e herirá el Señor de tisis, de fiebre, de inflamación y de gran ardor, con la espada, con pestes y plagas; y te perseguirán hasta que perezcas.

The Lord will smite you with consumption, with fever and inflammation, fiery heat, sword and drought, blasting and mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish.

23 E l cielo que está encima de tu cabeza será de bronce, y la tierra que está debajo de ti, de hierro.

The heavens over your head shall be brass and the earth under you shall be iron.

24 E l Señor hará que la lluvia de tu tierra sea polvo y ceniza; descenderá del cielo sobre ti hasta que seas destruido.

The Lord shall make the rain of your land powdered soil and dust; from the heavens it shall come down upon you until you are destroyed.

25 E l Señor hará que seas derrotado delante de tus enemigos; saldrás contra ellos por un camino, pero huirás por siete caminos delante de ellos, y serás ejemplo de terror para todos los reinos de la tierra.

The Lord shall cause you to be struck down before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them, and you shall be tossed to and fro and be a terror among all the kingdoms of the earth.

26 “ Y tus cadáveres serán alimento para todas las aves del cielo y para los animales de la tierra, y no habrá nadie que los espante.

And your dead body shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away.

27 “ El Señor te herirá con los tumores de Egipto y con úlceras, sarna y comezón, de los que no podrás ser sanado.

The Lord will smite you with the boils of Egypt and the tumors, the scurvy and the itch, from which you cannot be healed.

28 T e herirá el Señor con locura, con ceguera y con turbación de corazón;

The Lord will smite you with madness and blindness and dismay of heart.

29 y andarás a tientas a mediodía como el ciego anda a tientas en la oscuridad, y no serás prosperado en tus caminos; más bien serás oprimido y robado continuamente, sin que nadie te salve.

And you shall grope at noonday as the blind grope in darkness. And you shall not prosper in your ways; and you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to save you.

30 T e desposarás con una mujer, pero otro hombre se acostará con ella; edificarás una casa, pero no habitarás en ella; plantarás una viña, pero no aprovecharás su fruto.

You shall betroth a wife, but another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house, but not live in it; you shall plant a vineyard, but not gather its grapes.

31 T u buey será degollado delante de tus ojos, pero no comerás de él; tu asno será arrebatado, y no te será devuelto; tu oveja será dada a tus enemigos, y no tendrás quien te salve.

Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, but you shall not eat of it; your donkey shall be violently taken away before your face and not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have no one to help you.

32 T us hijos y tus hijas serán dados a otro pueblo, mientras tus ojos miran y desfallecen por ellos continuamente, pero no habrá nada que puedas hacer.

Your sons and daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day; and there shall be no power in your hands to prevent it.

33 U n pueblo que no conoces comerá el producto de tu suelo y de todo tu trabajo, y no serás más que un pueblo oprimido y quebrantado todos los días.

A nation which you have not known shall eat up the fruit of your land and of all your labors, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually,

34 Y te volverás loco por lo que verán tus ojos.

So that you shall be driven mad by the sights which your eyes shall see.

35 T e herirá el Señor en las rodillas y en las piernas con llagas malignas de las que no podrás ser sanado, desde la planta de tu pie hasta la coronilla.

The Lord will smite you on the knees and on the legs with a sore boil that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.

36 E l Señor te llevará a ti y a tu rey, al que hayas puesto sobre ti, a una nación que ni tú ni tus padres han conocido, y allí servirás a otros dioses de madera y de piedra.

The Lord shall bring you and your king whom you have set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone.

37 Y vendrás a ser motivo de horror, proverbio y burla entre todos los pueblos donde el Señor te lleve.

And you shall become an amazement, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples to which the Lord will lead you.

38 “ Sacarás mucha semilla al campo, pero recogerás poco, porque la langosta la devorará.

You shall carry much seed out into the field and shall gather little in, for the locust shall consume it.

39 P lantarás y cultivarás viñas, pero no beberás del vino ni recogerás las uvas, porque el gusano se las comerá.

You shall plant vineyards and dress them but shall neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worm shall eat them.

40 T endrás olivos por todo tu territorio pero no te ungirás con el aceite, porque tus aceitunas se caerán.

You shall have olive trees throughout all your territory but you shall not anoint yourselves with the oil, for your olive trees shall drop their fruit.

41 T endrás hijos e hijas, pero no serán tuyos, porque irán al cautiverio.

You shall beget sons and daughters but shall not enjoy them, for they shall go into captivity.

42 T odos tus árboles y el fruto de tu suelo los consumirá la langosta.

All your trees and the fruit of your ground shall the locust possess.

43 E l extranjero que esté en medio de ti se elevará sobre ti cada vez más alto, pero tú descenderás cada vez más bajo.

The transient (stranger) among you shall mount up higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower.

44 E l te prestará, pero tú no le podrás prestar. El será la cabeza y tú serás la cola.

He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.

45 “ Todas estas maldiciones vendrán sobre ti y te perseguirán y te alcanzarán hasta que seas destruido, porque tú no escuchaste la voz del Señor tu Dios, y no guardaste los mandamientos y estatutos que El te mandó.

All these curses shall come upon you and shall pursue you and overtake you till you are destroyed, because you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.

46 E llas serán señal y maravilla sobre ti y sobre tu descendencia para siempre.

They shall be upon you for a sign and for a wonder, and upon your descendants forever.

47 P or cuanto no serviste al Señor tu Dios con alegría y con gozo de corazón, cuando tenías la abundancia de todas las cosas,

Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness of heart for the abundance of all,

48 p or tanto servirás a tus enemigos, los cuales el Señor enviará contra ti: en hambre, en sed, en desnudez y en escasez de todas las cosas. El pondrá yugo de hierro sobre tu cuello hasta que te haya destruido.

Therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord shall send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and in want of all things; and He will put a yoke of iron upon your neck until He has destroyed you.

49 “ El Señor levantará contra ti una nación de lejos, desde el extremo de la tierra, que descenderá veloz como águila, una nación cuya lengua no entenderás,

The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you shall not understand,

50 u na nación de rostro fiero que no tendrá respeto al anciano ni tendrá compasión del niño.

A nation of unyielding countenance who will not regard the person of the old or show favor to the young,

51 S e comerá la cría de tu ganado y el fruto de tu suelo, hasta que seas destruido; tampoco te dejará grano, ni vino nuevo, ni aceite, ni el aumento de tu ganado, ni las crías de tu rebaño, hasta que te haya hecho perecer.

And shall eat the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your ground until you are destroyed, who also shall not leave you grain, new wine, oil, the increase of your cattle or the young of your sheep until they have caused you to perish.

52 Y esa nación te pondrá sitio en todas tus ciudades, hasta que tus muros altos y fortificados en los cuales tú confiabas caigan por toda tu tierra; y te sitiará en todas tus ciudades, por toda la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te ha dado.

They shall besiege you in all your towns until your high and fortified walls in which you trusted come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land which the Lord your God has given you.

53 E ntonces comerás el fruto de tu vientre, la carne de tus hijos y de tus hijas que el Señor tu Dios te ha dado, en el asedio y en la angustia con que tu enemigo te oprimirá.

And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you, in the siege and in the misery with which your enemies shall distress you.

54 E l hombre que es tierno y muy delicado en medio de ti, será hostil hacia su hermano, hacia la mujer que ama y hacia el resto de sus hijos que le queden,

The man who is most tender among you and extremely particular and well-bred, his eye shall be cruel and grudging of food toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward those of his children still remaining,

55 y no dará a ninguno de ellos nada de la carne de sus hijos que se comerá, ya que no le quedará nada en el asedio y en la angustia con que tu enemigo te oprimirá en todas tus ciudades.

So that he will not give to any of them any of the flesh of his children which he is eating, because he has nothing left to him in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you in all your towns.

56 L a mujer tierna y delicada en medio tuyo, que no osaría poner la planta de su pie en tierra por ser delicada y tierna, será hostil hacia el esposo que ama, también hacia su hijo, hacia su hija,

The most tender and daintily bred woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground because she is so dainty and kind, will grudge to the husband of her bosom, to her son and to her daughter

57 h acia la placenta que salga de su seno y hacia los hijos que dé a luz; porque se los comerá en secreto por falta de otra cosa, en el asedio y en la angustia con que tu enemigo te oprimirá en tus ciudades.

Her afterbirth that comes out from her body and the children whom she shall bear. For she will eat them secretly for want of anything else in the siege and distress with which your enemies shall distress you in your towns.

58 “ Si no cuidas de poner en práctica todas las palabras de esta ley que están escritas en este libro, temiendo (reverenciando) este nombre glorioso y temible, el Señor tu Dios,

If you will not be watchful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name — the lord your god—

59 e ntonces el Señor hará horribles tus plagas y las plagas de tus descendientes, plagas severas y duraderas, y enfermedades perniciosas y crónicas.

Then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary strokes and blows, great plagues of long continuance, and grievous sicknesses of long duration.

60 Y traerá de nuevo sobre ti todas las enfermedades de Egipto de las cuales tenías temor, y no te dejarán.

Moreover, He will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you.

61 T ambién el Señor traerá sobre ti toda enfermedad y toda plaga que no están escritas en el libro de esta ley, hasta que seas destruido.

Also every sickness and every affliction which is not written in this Book of the Law the Lord will bring upon you until you are destroyed.

62 E ntonces quedarán pocos de ustedes en número, aunque eran multitud como las estrellas del cielo, porque no obedeciste al Señor tu Dios.

And you shall be left few in number, whereas you had been as the stars of the heavens for multitude, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.

63 Y sucederá que tal como el Señor se deleitaba en ustedes para prosperarlos y multiplicarlos, así el Señor se deleitará en ustedes para hacerlos perecer y destruirlos; y serán arrancados de la tierra en la cual entran para poseerla.

And as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice to bring ruin upon you and to destroy you; and you shall be plucked from the land into which you go to possess.

64 A demás, el Señor te dispersará entre todos los pueblos de un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro extremo de la tierra; y allí servirás a otros dioses, de madera y de piedra, que ni tú ni tus padres han conocido.

And the Lord shall scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.

65 Y entre esas naciones no hallarás descanso, ni habrá reposo para la planta de tu pie, sino que allí el Señor te dará un corazón temeroso, desfallecimiento de ojos y desesperación de alma.

And among these nations you shall find no ease and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot; but the Lord will give you there a trembling heart, failing of eyes, fainting of mind, and languishing of spirit.

66 T endrás la vida pendiente de un hilo; y estarás aterrado de noche y de día, y no tendrás seguridad de tu vida.

Your life shall hang in doubt before you; day and night you shall be worried, and have no assurance of your life.

67 P or la mañana dirás: ‘¡Oh, si fuera la tarde!’ Y por la tarde dirás: ‘¡Oh, si fuera la mañana!’ por causa del espanto de tu corazón con que temerás y por lo que verán tus ojos.

In the morning you shall say, Would that it were evening! and at evening you shall say, Would that it were morning!—because of the anxiety and dread of your hearts and the sights which you shall see with your eyes.

68 Y el Señor te hará volver a Egipto en naves, por el camino del cual yo te había dicho: ‘Nunca más volverás a verlo.’ Y allí ustedes se ofrecerán en venta como esclavos y esclavas a sus enemigos, pero no habrá comprador.”

And the Lord shall bring you into Egypt again with ships by the way about which I said to you, You shall never see it again. And there you shall be sold to your enemies as bondmen and bondwomen, but no man shall buy you.
