1 C uando Pablo y Bernabé entraron juntos en la sinagoga de los Judíos en Iconio, hablaron de tal manera que creyó una gran multitud, tanto de Judíos como de Griegos.

Now at Iconium went into the Jewish synagogue together and spoke with such power that a great number both of Jews and of Greeks believed (became Christians);

2 P ero los Judíos que no creyeron, excitaron y llenaron de odio los ánimos (las almas) de los Gentiles contra los hermanos.

But the unbelieving Jews aroused the Gentiles and embittered their minds against the brethren.

3 C on todo, se detuvieron allí mucho tiempo hablando valientemente, confiados en el Señor que confirmaba la palabra de Su gracia, concediendo que se hicieran señales (milagros) y prodigios por medio de sus manos.

So stayed on there for a long time, speaking freely and fearlessly and boldly in the Lord, Who continued to bear testimony to the Word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be performed by their hands.

4 P ero la gente de la ciudad estaba dividida, y unos estaban con los Judíos y otros con los apóstoles.

But the residents of the town were divided, some siding with the Jews and some with the apostles.

5 C uando los Gentiles y los Judíos, con sus gobernantes, prepararon un atentado para maltratarlos y apedrearlos,

When there was an attempt both on the part of the Gentiles and the Jews together with their rulers, to insult and abuse and molest and to stone them,

6 l os apóstoles se dieron cuenta de ello y huyeron a las ciudades de Licaonia, Listra, Derbe, y sus alrededores;

They, aware of the situation, made their escape to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and the neighboring districts;

7 y allí continuaron anunciando el evangelio (las buenas nuevas). Pablo y Bernabé en Listra

And there they continued to preach the glad tidings (Gospel).

8 Y había en Listra un hombre que estaba sentado, imposibilitado de los pies, cojo desde el seno de su madre y que nunca había andado.

Now at Lystra a man sat who found it impossible to use his feet, for he was a cripple from birth and had never walked.

9 E ste escuchaba hablar a Pablo, el cual, fijando la mirada en él, y viendo que tenía fe para ser sanado,

He was listening to Paul as he talked, and gazing intently at him and observing that he had faith to be healed,

10 d ijo con voz fuerte: “Levántate derecho sobre tus pies.” Y él dio un salto y comenzó a andar.

Shouted at him, saying, Stand erect on your feet! And he leaped up and walked.

11 C uando la multitud vio lo que Pablo había hecho, alzaron la voz, diciendo en el idioma de Licaonia: “Los dioses se han hecho semejantes a hombres y han descendido a nosotros.”

And the crowds, when they saw what Paul had done, lifted up their voices, shouting in the Lycaonian language, The gods have come down to us in human form!

12 Y llamaban a Bernabé, Júpiter, y a Pablo, Mercurio, porque éste era el que dirigía la palabra.

They called Barnabas Zeus, and they called Paul, because he led in the discourse, Hermes.

13 E l sacerdote de Júpiter, cuyo templo estaba en las afueras de la ciudad, trajo toros y guirnaldas a las puertas, y quería ofrecer sacrificios junto con la multitud.

And the priest of Zeus, whose was at the entrance of the town, brought bulls and garlands to the gates and wanted to join the people in offering sacrifice.

14 P ero cuando lo oyeron los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo, rasgaron sus ropas y se lanzaron en medio de la multitud, gritando:

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothing and dashed out among the crowd, shouting,

15 “ Señores, ¿por qué hacen estas cosas? Nosotros también somos hombres de igual naturaleza que ustedes, y les anunciamos el evangelio para que se vuelvan de estas cosas vanas (de estos ídolos) a un Dios vivo, que hizo el cielo, la tierra, el mar, y todo lo que hay en ellos.

Men, why are you doing this? We also are human beings, of nature like your own, and we bring you the good news (Gospel) that you should turn away from these foolish and vain things to the living God, Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that they contain.

16 E n las generaciones pasadas El permitió que todas las naciones (todos los Gentiles) siguieran sus propios caminos;

In generations past He permitted all the nations to walk in their own ways;

17 y sin embargo, no dejó de dar testimonio de El mismo, haciendo bien y dándoles lluvias del cielo y estaciones fructíferas, llenando sus corazones de sustento y de alegría.”

Yet He did not neglect to leave some witness of Himself, for He did you good and kindness and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with nourishment and happiness.

18 A un diciendo estas palabras, apenas pudieron impedir que las multitudes les ofrecieran sacrificio. Pablo Apedreado en Listra

Even in these words they with difficulty prevented the people from offering sacrifice to them.

19 P ero vinieron algunos Judíos de Antioquía y de Iconio, y habiendo persuadido a la multitud, apedrearon a Pablo y lo arrastraron fuera de la ciudad, pensando que estaba muerto.

But some Jews arrived there from Antioch and Iconium; and having persuaded the people and won them over, they stoned Paul and '> afterward] dragged him out of the town, thinking that he was dead.

20 P ero mientras los discípulos lo rodeaban, él se levantó y entró en la ciudad. Al día siguiente Pablo partió con Bernabé a Derbe.

But the disciples formed a circle about him, and he got up and went back into the town; and on the morrow he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 D espués de anunciar el evangelio a aquella ciudad y de hacer muchos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía,

When they had preached the good news (Gospel) to that town and made disciples of many of the people, they went back to Lystra and Iconium and Antioch,

22 f ortaleciendo los ánimos (las almas) de los discípulos, exhortándolos a que perseveraran en la fe, y diciendo: “Es necesario que a través de muchas tribulaciones entremos en el reino de Dios.”

Establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in the faith, and that it is through many hardships and tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

23 D espués que les designaron ancianos en cada iglesia, habiendo orado con ayunos, los encomendaron al Señor en quien habían creído.

And when they had appointed and ordained elders for them in each church with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in Whom they had come to believe.

24 P asaron por Pisidia y llegaron a Panfilia.

Then they went through Pisidia and arrived at Pamphylia.

25 D espués de predicar la palabra en Perge, descendieron a Atalia;

And when they had spoken the Word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

26 y de allí se embarcaron para Antioquía, donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para la obra que habían cumplido.

And from there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

27 C uando llegaron y reunieron a la iglesia, informaron de todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos, y cómo había abierto a los Gentiles la puerta de la fe.

Arriving there, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had accomplished with them and how He had opened to the Gentiles a door of faith.

28 Y se quedaron mucho tiempo con los discípulos.

And there they stayed no little time with the disciples.
