The book of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.

2 A braham fue padre de Isaac, Isaac de Jacob, y Jacob de Judá y de sus hermanos;

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

3 J udá fue padre de Fares y de Zara, cuya madre fue Tamar; Fares fue padre de Esrom, y Esrom de Aram;

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Aram,

4 A ram fue padre de Aminadab, Aminadab de Naasón, y Naasón de Salmón;

Aram the father of Aminadab, Aminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 S almón fue padre de Booz, cuya madre fue Rahab; Booz fue padre de Obed, cuya madre fue Rut; y Obed fue padre de Isaí;

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,

6 I saí fue padre del rey David. Y David fue padre de Salomón, cuya madre Betsabé había sido mujer de Urías.

Jesse the father of King David, King David the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah,

7 S alomón fue padre de Roboam, Roboam de Abías, y Abías de Asa;

Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,

8 A sa fue padre de Josafat, Josafat de Joram, y Joram de Uzías;

Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah,

9 U zías fue padre de Jotam, Jotam de Acaz, y Acaz de Ezequías;

Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,

10 E zequías fue padre de Manasés, Manasés de Amón, y Amón de Josías;

Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,

11 J osías fue padre de Jeconías (llamado también Joaquín) y de sus hermanos durante la deportación a Babilonia.

And Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers about the time of the removal (deportation) to Babylon.

12 D espués de la deportación a Babilonia, Jeconías fue padre de Salatiel, y Salatiel de Zorobabel;

After the exile to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

13 Z orobabel fue padre de Abiud, Abiud de Eliaquim, y Eliaquim de Azor;

Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,

14 A zor fue padre de Sadoc, Sadoc de Aquim, y Aquim de Eliud;

Azor the father of Sadoc, Sadoc the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud,

15 E liud fue padre de Eleazar, Eleazar de Matán, y Matán de Jacob;

Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 J acob fue padre de José, el marido de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado el Cristo (el Mesías).

Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, Who is called the Christ. (the Messiah, the Anointed)

17 D e manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce generaciones; y desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce generaciones; y desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones. Nacimiento de Jesucristo

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen, from David to the Babylonian exile (deportation) fourteen generations, from the Babylonian exile to the Christ fourteen generations.

18 E l nacimiento de Jesucristo fue como sigue: estando Su madre María comprometida para casarse con José, antes de que se llevara a cabo el matrimonio, se halló que había concebido por obra del Espíritu Santo.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place under these circumstances: When His mother Mary had been promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant of the Holy Spirit.

19 E ntonces José su marido, siendo un hombre justo y no queriendo denunciarla públicamente, quiso abandonarla en secreto.

And her husband Joseph, being a just and upright man and not willing to expose her publicly and to shame and disgrace her, decided to repudiate and dismiss (divorce) her quietly and secretly.

20 P ero mientras pensaba en esto, se le apareció en sueños un ángel del Señor, diciéndole: “José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María tu mujer, porque el Niño que se ha engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo.

But as he was thinking this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of (from, out of) the Holy Spirit.

21 Y dará a luz un Hijo, y Le pondrás por nombre Jesús, porque El salvará a Su pueblo de sus pecados.”

She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins '> failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].

22 T odo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que el Señor había hablado por medio del profeta (Isaías), diciendo:

All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet,

23 “ He aqui, la virgen concebira y dara a luz un Hijo, y Le pondran por nombre Emmanuel,” que traducido significa: “ Dios con nosotros.”

Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel—which, when translated, means, God with us.

24 C uando José despertó del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y tomó consigo a María como su mujer;

Then Joseph, being aroused from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him: he took his wife.

25 y la conservó virgen hasta que dio a luz un Hijo; y Le puso por nombre Jesús.

But he had no union with her as her husband until she had borne her firstborn Son; and he called His name Jesus.
