The book of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

3 J udá gerou Perez e Zerá, cuja mãe foi Tamar; Perez gerou Esrom; Esrom gerou Arão;

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Aram,

4 A rão gerou Aminadabe; Aminadabe gerou Naassom; Naassom gerou Salmom;

Aram the father of Aminadab, Aminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 S almom gerou Boaz, cuja mãe foi Raabe; Boaz gerou Obede, cuja mãe foi Rute; Obede gerou Jessé;

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,

6 e Jessé gerou o rei Davi. Davi gerou Salomão, cuja mãe tinha sido mulher de Urias;

Jesse the father of King David, King David the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah,

7 S alomão gerou Roboão; Roboão gerou Abias; Abias gerou Asa;

Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,

8 A sa gerou Josafá; Josafá gerou Jorão; Jorão gerou Uzias;

Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah,

9 U zias gerou Jotão; Jotão gerou Acaz; Acaz gerou Ezequias;

Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,

10 E zequias gerou Manassés; Manassés gerou Amom; Amom gerou Josias;

Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,

11 e Josias gerou Jeconias e seus irmãos, no tempo do exílio na Babilônia.

And Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers about the time of the removal (deportation) to Babylon.

12 D epois do exílio na Babilônia: Jeconias gerou Salatiel; Salatiel gerou Zorobabel;

After the exile to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

17 A ssim, ao todo houve catorze gerações de Abraão a Davi, catorze de Davi até o exílio na Babilônia, e catorze do exílio até o Cristo. O Nascimento de Jesus Cristo

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen, from David to the Babylonian exile (deportation) fourteen generations, from the Babylonian exile to the Christ fourteen generations.

18 F oi assim o nascimento de Jesus Cristo: Maria, sua mãe, estava prometida em casamento a José, mas, antes que se unissem, achou-se grávida pelo Espírito Santo.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place under these circumstances: When His mother Mary had been promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant of the Holy Spirit.

19 P or ser José, seu marido, um homem justo, e não querendo expô-la à desonra pública, pretendia anular o casamento secretamente.

And her husband Joseph, being a just and upright man and not willing to expose her publicly and to shame and disgrace her, decided to repudiate and dismiss (divorce) her quietly and secretly.

20 M as, depois de ter pensado nisso, apareceu-lhe um anjo do Senhor em sonho e disse: “José, filho de Davi, não tema receber Maria como sua esposa, pois o que nela foi gerado procede do Espírito Santo.

But as he was thinking this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of (from, out of) the Holy Spirit.

21 E la dará à luz um filho, e você deverá dar-lhe o nome de Jesus, porque ele salvará o seu povo dos seus pecados”.

She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins '> failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].

22 T udo isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse o que o Senhor dissera pelo profeta:

All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet,

23 “ A virgem ficará grávida e dará à luz um filho, e lhe chamarão Emanuel”, que significa “Deus conosco”.

Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel—which, when translated, means, God with us.

24 A o acordar, José fez o que o anjo do Senhor lhe tinha ordenado e recebeu Maria como sua esposa.

Then Joseph, being aroused from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him: he took his wife.

25 M as não teve relações com ela enquanto ela não deu à luz um filho. E ele lhe pôs o nome de Jesus.

But he had no union with her as her husband until she had borne her firstborn Son; and he called His name Jesus.
