1 P or que se amotinam as nações e os povos tramam em vão?

Why do the nations assemble with commotion, and why do the people imagine (meditate upon and devise) an empty scheme?

2 O s reis da terra tomam posição e os governantes conspiram unidos contra o Senhor e contra o seu ungido, e dizem:

The kings of the earth take their places; the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed One (the Messiah, the Christ). They say,

3 “ Façamos em pedaços as suas correntes, lancemos de nós as suas algemas!”

Let us break Their bands asunder and cast Their cords from us.

4 D o seu trono nos céus o Senhor põe-se a rir e caçoa deles.

He Who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord has them in derision.

5 E m sua ira os repreende e em seu furor os aterroriza, dizendo:

He speaks to them in His deep anger and troubles (terrifies and confounds) them in His displeasure and fury, saying,

6 “ Eu mesmo estabeleci o meu rei em Sião, no meu santo monte”.

Yet have I anointed (installed and placed) My King on My holy hill of Zion.

7 P roclamarei o decreto do Senhor: Ele me disse: “Tu és meu filho; eu hoje te gerei.

I will declare the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; this day I have begotten You.

8 P ede-me, e te darei as nações como herança e os confins da terra como tua propriedade.

Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession.

9 T u as quebrarás com vara de ferro e as despedaçarás como a um vaso de barro”.

You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like potters’ ware.

10 P or isso, ó reis, sejam prudentes; aceitem a advertência, autoridades da terra.

Now therefore, O you kings, act wisely; be instructed and warned, O you rulers of the earth.

11 A dorem o Senhor com temor; exultem com tremor.

Serve the Lord with reverent awe and worshipful fear; rejoice and be in high spirits with trembling.

12 B eijem o filho, para que ele não se ire e vocês não sejam destruídos de repente, pois num instante acende-se a sua ira. Como são felizes todos os que nele se refugiam!

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for soon shall His wrath be kindled. O blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in Him!
