Call now—is there any who will answer you? And to which of the holy will you turn?

For vexation and rage kill the foolish man; jealousy and indignation slay the simple.

5 O s famintos devoram a sua colheita, tirando-a até do meio dos espinhos, e os sedentos sugam a sua riqueza.

His harvest the hungry eat and take it even among the thorns; the snare opens for wealth.

6 P ois o sofrimento não brota do pó, e as dificuldades não nascem do chão.

For affliction comes not forth from the dust, neither does trouble spring forth out of the ground.

7 N o entanto, o homem nasce para as dificuldades tão certamente como as fagulhas voam para cima.

But man is born to trouble as the sparks and the flames fly upward.

As for me, I would seek God and inquire of and require Him, and to God would I commit my cause—

Who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number,

10 D errama chuva sobre a terra, e envia água sobre os campos.

Who gives rain upon the earth and sends waters upon the fields,

11 O s humildes, ele os exalta, e traz os que pranteiam a um lugar de segurança.

So that He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn He lifts to safety.

12 E le frustra os planos dos astutos, para que fracassem as mãos deles.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise or anything of worth.

13 A panha os sábios na astúcia deles, e as maquinações dos astutos são malogradas por sua precipitação.

He catches the wise in their own trickiness, and the counsel of the schemers is brought to a quick end.

14 A s trevas vêm sobre eles em pleno dia; ao meio-dia eles tateiam como se fosse noite.

In the daytime they meet in darkness, and at noon they grope as in the night.

15 E le salva o oprimido da espada que trazem na boca; salva-o das garras dos poderosos.

But saves from the sword of their mouth, and the needy from the hand of the mighty.

16 P or isso os pobres têm esperança, e a injustiça cala a própria boca.

So the poor have hope, and iniquity shuts her mouth.

17 “ Como é feliz o homem a quem Deus corrige; portanto, não despreze a disciplina do Todo-poderoso.

Happy and fortunate is the man whom God reproves; so do not despise or reject the correction of the Almighty.

18 P ois ele fere, mas trata do ferido; ele machuca, mas suas mãos também curam.

For He wounds, but He binds up; He smites, but His hands heal.

19 D e seis desgraças ele o livrará; em sete delas você nada sofrerá.

He will rescue you in six troubles; in seven nothing that is evil will touch you.

20 N a fome ele o livrará da morte, e na guerra o livrará do golpe da espada.

In famine He will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

21 V ocê será protegido do açoite da língua, e não precisará ter medo quando a destruição chegar.

You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.

22 V ocê rirá da destruição e da fome, e não precisará temer as feras da terra.

At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the living creatures of the earth.

23 P ois fará aliança com as pedras do campo, e os animais selvagens estarão em paz com você.

For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.

24 V ocê saberá que a sua tenda é segura; contará os bens da sua morada e de nada achará falta.

And you shall know that your tent shall be in peace, and you shall visit your fold and your dwelling and miss nothing.

25 V ocê saberá que os seus filhos serão muitos, e que os seus descendentes serão como a relva da terra.

You shall know also that your children shall be many, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.

26 V ocê irá para a sepultura em pleno vigor, como um feixe recolhido no devido tempo.

You shall come to your grave in ripe old age, and as a shock of grain goes up in its season.

27 “ Verificamos isso e vimos que é verdade. Portanto, ouça e aplique isso à sua vida”.
