1 P ortanto, sejam imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados,

Therefore be imitators of God, as well-beloved children.

2 e vivam em amor, como também Cristo nos amou e se entregou por nós como oferta e sacrifício de aroma agradável a Deus.

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God a sweet fragrance.

3 E ntre vocês não deve haver nem sequer menção de imoralidade sexual como também de nenhuma espécie de impureza e de cobiça; pois essas coisas não são próprias para os santos.

But immorality (sexual vice) and all impurity '> of lustful, rich, wasteful living] or greediness must not even be named among you, as is fitting and proper among saints (God’s consecrated people).

4 N ão haja obscenidade, nem conversas tolas, nem gracejos imorais, que são inconvenientes, mas, ao invés disso, ações de graças.

Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness.

5 P orque vocês podem estar certos disto: nenhum imoral, ou impuro, ou ganancioso, que é idólatra, tem herança no Reino de Cristo e de Deus.

For be sure of this: that no person practicing sexual vice or impurity in thought or in life, or one who is covetous —for he is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 N inguém os engane com palavras tolas, pois é por causa dessas coisas que a ira de Deus vem sobre os que vivem na desobediência.

Let no one delude and deceive you with empty excuses and groundless arguments, for through these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of rebellion and disobedience.

7 P ortanto, não participem com eles dessas coisas.

So do not associate or be sharers with them.

8 P orque outrora vocês eram trevas, mas agora são luz no Senhor. Vivam como filhos da luz,

For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.

9 p ois o fruto da luz consiste em toda bondade, justiça e verdade;

For the fruit (the effect, the product) of the Light or the Spirit in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart, and trueness of life.

10 e aprendam a discernir o que é agradável ao Senhor.

And try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

11 N ão participem das obras infrutíferas das trevas; antes, exponham-nas à luz.

Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead expose and reprove and convict them.

12 P orque aquilo que eles fazem em oculto, até mencionar é vergonhoso.

For it is a shame even to speak of or mention the things that practice in secret.

13 M as, tudo o que é exposto pela luz torna-se visível, pois a luz torna visíveis todas as coisas.

But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.

14 P or isso é que foi dito: “Desperta, ó tu que dormes, levanta-te dentre os mortos e Cristo resplandecerá sobre ti”. Vida em Comunidade

Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.

15 T enham cuidado com a maneira como vocês vivem; que não seja como insensatos, mas como sábios,

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

16 a proveitando ao máximo cada oportunidade, porque os dias são maus.

Making the very most of the time, because the days are evil.

17 P ortanto, não sejam insensatos, mas procurem compreender qual é a vontade do Senhor.

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

18 N ão se embriaguem com vinho, que leva à libertinagem, mas deixem-se encher pelo Espírito,

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the Spirit.

19 f alando entre si com salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais, cantando e louvando de coração ao Senhor,

Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices '> and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord,

20 d ando graças constantemente a Deus Pai por todas as coisas, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

21 S ujeitem-se uns aos outros, por temor a Cristo. Deveres Conjugais

Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

22 M ulheres, sujeite-se cada uma a seu marido, como ao Senhor,

Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as to the Lord.

23 p ois o marido é o cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é o cabeça da igreja, que é o seu corpo, do qual ele é o Salvador.

For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of body.

24 A ssim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, também as mulheres estejam em tudo sujeitas a seus maridos.

As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

25 M aridos, ame cada um a sua mulher, assim como Cristo amou a igreja e entregou-se por ela

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

26 p ara santificá-la, tendo-a purificado pelo lavar da água mediante a palavra,

So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,

27 e para apresentá-la a si mesmo como igreja gloriosa, sem mancha nem ruga ou coisa semelhante, mas santa e inculpável.

That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things.

28 D a mesma forma, os maridos devem amar cada um a sua mulher como a seu próprio corpo. Quem ama sua mulher, ama a si mesmo.

Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

29 A lém do mais, ninguém jamais odiou o seu próprio corpo, antes o alimenta e dele cuida, como também Cristo faz com a igreja,

For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,

30 p ois somos membros do seu corpo.

Because we are members (parts) of His body.

31 “ Por essa razão, o homem deixará pai e mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, e os dois se tornarão uma só carne.”

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.

32 E ste é um mistério profundo; refiro-me, porém, a Cristo e à igreja.

This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 P ortanto, cada um de vocês também ame a sua mulher como a si mesmo, e a mulher trate o marido com todo o respeito.

However, let each man of you love his wife as his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband '> that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].
