1 C om os nossos próprios ouvidos ouvimos, ó Deus; os nossos antepassados nos contaram os feitos que realizaste no tempo deles, nos dias da antigüidade.

We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us work You did in their days, in the days of old.

2 C om a tua própria mão expulsaste as nações para estabelecer os nossos antepassados; arruinaste povos e fizeste prosperar os nossos antepassados.

You drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave a home by rooting out the peoples, but You spread out.

3 N ão foi pela espada que conquistaram a terra, nem pela força do seu braço que alcançaram a vitória; foi pela tua mão direita, pelo teu braço, e pela luz do teu rosto, por causa do teu amor para com eles.

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance, because You were favorable toward and did delight in them.

4 É s tu, meu Rei e meu Deus! És tu que decretas vitórias para Jacó!

You are my King, O God; command victories and deliverance for Jacob (Israel).

5 C ontigo pomos em fuga os nossos adversários; pelo teu nome pisoteamos os que nos atacam.

Through You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall we tread them under who rise up against us.

6 N ão confio em meu arco, minha espada não me concede a vitória;

For I will not trust in and lean on my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7 m as tu nos concedes a vitória sobre os nossos adversários e humilhas os que nos odeiam.

But You have saved us from our foes and have put them to shame who hate us.

8 E m Deus nos gloriamos o tempo todo, e louvaremos o teu nome para sempre. Pausa

In God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah!

9 M as agora nos rejeitaste e nos humilhaste; já não sais com os nossos exércitos.

But now You have cast us off and brought us to dishonor, and You go not out with our armies.

10 D iante dos nossos adversários fizeste-nos bater em retirada, e os que nos odeiam nos saquearam.

You make us to turn back from the enemy, and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.

11 T u nos entregaste para sermos devorados como ovelhas e nos dispersaste entre as nações.

You have made us like sheep intended for mutton and have scattered us in exile among the nations.

12 V endeste o teu povo por uma ninharia, nada lucrando com a sua venda.

You sell Your people for nothing, and have not increased Your wealth by their price.

13 T u nos fizeste motivo de vergonha dos nossos vizinhos, objeto de zombaria e menosprezo dos que nos rodeiam.

You have made us the taunt of our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are round about us.

14 F izeste de nós um provérbio entre as nações; os povos meneiam a cabeça quando nos vêem.

You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the heads among the people.

15 S ofro humilhação o tempo todo, e o meu rosto está coberto de vergonha

My dishonor is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face

16 p or causa da zombaria dos que me censuram e me provocam, por causa do inimigo, que busca vingança.

At the words of the taunter and reviler, by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.

17 T udo isso aconteceu conosco, sem que nos tivéssemos esquecido de ti, nem tivéssemos traído a tua aliança.

All this is come upon us, yet have we not forgotten You, neither have we been false to Your covenant.

18 N ossos corações não voltaram atrás, nem os nossos pés se desviaram da tua vereda.

Our hearts are not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Your path,

19 T odavia, tu nos esmagaste e fizeste de nós um covil de chacais, e de densas trevas nos cobriste.

Though You have distressingly broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with deep darkness, even with the shadow of death.

20 S e tivéssemos esquecido o nome do nosso Deus e tivéssemos estendido as nossas mãos a um deus estrangeiro,

If we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god,

21 D eus não o teria descoberto? Pois ele conhece os segredos do coração!

Would not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

22 C ontudo, por amor de ti enfrentamos a morte todos os dias; somos considerados como ovelhas destinadas ao matadouro.

No, but for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

23 D esperta, Senhor! Por que dormes? Levanta-te! Não nos rejeites para sempre.

Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arouse Yourself, cast us not off forever!

24 P or que escondes o teu rosto e esqueces o nosso sofrimento e a nossa aflição?

Why do You hide Your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

25 F omos humilhados até o pó; nossos corpos se apegam ao chão.

For our lives are bowed down to the dust; our bodies cleave to the ground.

26 L evanta-te! Socorre-nos! Resgata-nos por causa da tua fidelidade.

Rise up! Come to our help, and deliver us for Your mercy’s sake and because of Your steadfast love!
