1 ( Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al fiilor lui Core. O cîntare.) Dumnezeule, am auzit cu urechile noastre, şi părinţii noştri ne-au povestit lucrările, pe cari le-ai făcut pe vremea lor, în zilele de odinioară.

We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us work You did in their days, in the days of old.

2 C u mîna Ta, ai izgonit neamuri, ca să -i sădeşti pe ei, ai lovit popoare, ca să -i întinzi pe ei.

You drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave a home by rooting out the peoples, but You spread out.

3 C ăci nu prin sabia lor au pus mîna pe ţară, nu braţul lor i -a mîntuit, ci dreapta Ta, braţul Tău, lumina Feţei Tale, pentrucă îi iubeai.

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance, because You were favorable toward and did delight in them.

4 D umnezeule, Tu eşti Împăratul meu: porunceşte izbăvirea lui Iacov!

You are my King, O God; command victories and deliverance for Jacob (Israel).

5 C u Tine doborîm pe vrăjmaşii noştri, cu Numele Tău zdrobim pe protivnicii noştri.

Through You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall we tread them under who rise up against us.

6 C ăci nu în arcul meu mă încred, nu sabia mea mă va scăpa;

For I will not trust in and lean on my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7 c i Tu ne izbăveşti de vrăjmaşii noştri, şi dai de ruşine pe cei ce ne urăsc.

But You have saved us from our foes and have put them to shame who hate us.

8 N oi, în fiecare zi, ne lăudăm cu Dumnezeu, şi pururea slăvim Numele Tău. -(Oprire).

In God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah!

9 D ar Tu ne lepezi, ne acoperi de ruşine, nu mai ieşi cu oştirile noastre;

But now You have cast us off and brought us to dishonor, and You go not out with our armies.

10 n e faci să dăm dosul înaintea vrăjmaşului, şi ceice ne urăsc, ridică prăzi luate dela noi.

You make us to turn back from the enemy, and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.

11 N e dai ca pe nişte oi de mîncat, şi ne risipeşti printre neamuri.

You have made us like sheep intended for mutton and have scattered us in exile among the nations.

12 V inzi pe poporul Tău pe nimic, şi nu -l socoteşti de mare preţ.

You sell Your people for nothing, and have not increased Your wealth by their price.

13 N e faci de ocara vecinilor noştri, de batjocura şi de rîsul celor ce ne înconjoară.

You have made us the taunt of our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are round about us.

14 N e faci de pomină printre neamuri, şi pricină de clătinare din cap printre popoare.

You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the heads among the people.

15 O cara mea este totdeauna înaintea mea, şi ruşinea îmi acopere faţa,

My dishonor is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face

16 l a glasul celui ce mă batjocoreşte şi mă ocărăşte, la vederea vrăjmaşului şi răzbunătorului.

At the words of the taunter and reviler, by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.

17 T oate acestea ni se întîmplă, fără ca noi să Te fi uitat, fără să fi călcat legămîntul Tău:

All this is come upon us, yet have we not forgotten You, neither have we been false to Your covenant.

18 d a, inima nu ni s'a abătut, paşii nu ni s'au depărtat de pe cărarea Ta,

Our hearts are not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Your path,

19 c a să ne zdrobeşti în locuinţa şacalilor, şi să ne acoperi cu umbra morţii.

Though You have distressingly broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with deep darkness, even with the shadow of death.

20 D acă am fi uitat Numele Dumnezeului nostru, şi ne-am fi întins mînile spre un dumnezeu străin,

If we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god,

21 n 'ar şti Dumnezeu lucrul acesta, El, care cunoaşte tainele inimii?

Would not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

22 D ar din pricina Ta sîntem junghiaţi în toate zilele, sîntem priviţi ca nişte oi sortite pentru măcelărie.

No, but for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

23 T rezeşte-Te! Pentruce dormi, Doamne? Trezeşte-Te! Nu ne lepăda pe vecie!

Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arouse Yourself, cast us not off forever!

24 P entruce Îţi ascunzi Faţa? Pentruce uiţi de nenorocirea şi apăsarea noastră?

Why do You hide Your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

25 C ăci sufletul ne este doborît în ţărînă de mîhnire, trupul nostru este lipit de pămînt.

For our lives are bowed down to the dust; our bodies cleave to the ground.

26 S coală-Te, ca să ne ajuţi! Izbăveşte-ne, pentru bunătatea Ta!

Rise up! Come to our help, and deliver us for Your mercy’s sake and because of Your steadfast love!
