1 F erice de omul care nu se duce la sfatul celor răi, nu se opreşte pe calea celor păcătoşi, şi nu se aşează pe scaunul celor batjocoritori!

Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down where the scornful gather.

2 C i îşi găseşte plăcerea în Legea Domnului, şi zi şi noapte cugetă la Legea Lui!

But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.

3 E l este ca un pom sădit lîngă un izvor de apă, care îşi dă rodul la vremea lui, şi ale cărui frunze nu se veştejesc: tot ce începe, duce la bun sfîrşit.

And he shall be like a tree firmly planted by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper.

4 N u tot aşa este cu cei răi: ci ei sînt ca pleava, pe care o spulberă vîntul.

Not so the wicked. But they are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

5 D eaceea cei rău nu pot ţinea capul sus în judecăţii, nici păcătoşii în adunarea celor neprihăniţi.

Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 C ăci Domnul cunoaşte calea celor neprihăniţi, dar calea păcătoşilor duce la pieire.

For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish (end in ruin and come to nought).
