1 ( Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David, robul Domnului. El a spus Domnului cuvintele cîntării acesteia, cînd l -a scăpat Domnul din mîna tuturor vrăjmaşilor săi şi din mîna lui Saul. El a zis:),, Te iubesc din inimă, Doamne, tăria mea!

I love You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength.

2 D oamne, Tu eşti stînca mea, cetăţuia mea, izbăvitorul meu! Dumnezeule, Tu eşti stînca mea, în care mă ascund, scutul meu, tăria care mă scapă, şi întăritura mea!

The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower.

3 E u strig:, Lăudat să fie Domnul!` şi sînt izbăvit de vrăjmaşii mei.

I will call upon the Lord, Who is to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

4 M ă înconjuraseră legăturile morţii, şi mă îngroziseră rîurile pieirii;

The cords or bands of death surrounded me, and the streams of ungodliness and the torrents of ruin terrified me.

5 m ă înfăşuraseră legăturile mormîntului, şi mă prinseseră laţurile morţii.

The cords of Sheol (the place of the dead) surrounded me; the snares of death confronted and came upon me.

6 D ar, în strîmtorarea mea, am chemat pe Domnul, şi am strigat către Dumnezeul meu: din locaşul Lui, El mi -a auzit glasul, şi strigătul meu a ajuns pînă la El, pînă la urechile Lui.

In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His ears.

7 A tunci s'a sguduit pămîntul şi s'a cutremurat, temeliile munţilor s'au mişcat, şi s'au clătinat, pentru că El se mîniase.

Then the earth quaked and rocked, the foundations also of the mountains trembled; they moved and were shaken because He was indignant and angry.

8 D in nările Lui se ridica fum, şi un foc mistuitor ieşea din gura Lui: cărbuni aprinşi ţîşneau din ea.

There went up smoke from His nostrils; and lightning out of His mouth devoured; coals were kindled by it.

9 A plecat cerurile, şi S'a pogorît: un nor gros era supt picioarele Lui.

He bowed the heavens also and came down; and thick darkness was under His feet.

10 C ălărea pe un heruvim, şi sbura, venea plutind pe aripile vîntului.

And He rode upon a cherub and flew; yes, He sped on with the wings of the wind.

11 Î ntunerecul Şi -l făcuse învelitoare, iar cortul Lui, împrejurul Lui, erau nişte ape întunecoase şi nori negri.

He made darkness His secret hiding place; as His pavilion (His canopy) round about Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 D in strălucirea, care se răsfrîngea înaintea Lui, ieşeau nori, cari aruncau grindină şi cărbuni de foc.

Out of the brightness before Him there broke forth through His thick clouds hailstones and coals of fire.

13 D omnul a tunat în ceruri, Cel Prea Înalt a făcut să -I răsune glasul, cu grindină şi cărbuni de foc.

The Lord also thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered His voice, amid hailstones and coals of fire.

14 A aruncat săgeţi şi a risipit pe vrăjmaşii mei, a înmulţit loviturile trăsnetului şi i -a pus pe fugă.

And He sent out His arrows and scattered them; and He flashed forth lightnings and put them to rout.

15 A tunci s'a văzut albia apelor, şi s'au descoperit temeliile lumii, la mustrarea Ta, Doamne, la vuietul suflării nărilor Tale.

Then the beds of the sea appeared and the foundations of the world were laid bare at Your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

16 E l Şi -a întins mîna de sus, m'a apucat, m'a scos din apele cele mari; Ps. 144. 7.

He reached from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.

17 m 'a izbăvit de protivnicul meu cel puternic, de vrăjmaşii mei, cari erau mai tari decît mine.

He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated and abhorred me, for they were too strong for me.

18 E i năvăliseră deodată peste mine în ziua strîmtorării mele; dar Domnul a fost sprijinul meu.

They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support.

19 E l m'a scos la loc larg, şi m'a scăpat, pentrucă mă iubeşte.

He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.

20 D omnul mi -a făcut după neprihănirea mea, mi -a răsplătit după curăţia mînilor mele:

The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness (my conscious integrity and sincerity with Him); according to the cleanness of my hands has He recompensed me.

21 c ăci am păzit căile Domnului, şi n'am păcătuit împotriva Dumnezeului meu.

For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 T oate poruncile Lui au fost înaintea mea, şi nu m'am depărtat dela legile Lui.

For all His ordinances were before me, and I put not away His statutes from me.

23 A m fost fără vină faţă de El, şi m'am păzit de fărădelegea mea.

I was upright before Him and blameless with Him, ever to keep myself free from my sin and guilt.

24 D eaceea, Domnul mi -a răsplătit după neprihănirea mea, după curăţia mînilor mele înaintea ochilor Lui.

Therefore has the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness (my uprightness and right standing with Him), according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.

25 C u cel bun Tu Te arăţi bun, cu omul neprihănit Te arăţi neprihănit;

With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful, with an upright man You will show Yourself upright,

26 c u cel curat Te arăţi curat, şi cu cel stricat Te porţi după stricăciunea lui.

With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary.

27 T u mîntuieşti pe poporul care se smereşte, şi smereşti privirile trufaşe.

For You deliver an afflicted and humble people but will bring down those with haughty looks.

28 D a, Tu îmi aprinzi lumina mea. Domnul, Dumnezeul meu, îmi luminează întunerecul meu.

For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.

29 C u Tine mă năpustesc asupra unei oşti înarmate, cu Dumnezeul meu sar peste un zid întărit.

For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.

30 C ăile lui Dumnezeu sînt desăvîrşite, Cuvîntul Domnului este încercat: El este un scut pentru toţi cei ce aleargă la El.

As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.

31 C ăci cine este Dumnezeu, afară de Domnul, şi cine este o stîncă, afară de Dumnezeul nostru?

For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God,

32 D umnezeu mă încinge cu putere, şi mă povăţuieşte pe calea cea dreaptă.

The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect?

33 E l îmi face picioarele ca ale cerboaicelor, şi mă aşează pe înălţimile mele

He makes my feet like hinds’ feet; He sets me securely upon my high places.

34 E l îmi deprinde mînile la luptă, aşa că braţele mele întind arcul de aramă.

He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 T u îmi dai scutul mîntuirii Tale, dreapta Ta mă sprijineşte, şi îndurarea Ta mă face mare.

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand has held me up; Your gentleness and condescension have made me great.

36 T u lărgeşti drumul supt paşii mei, şi nu-mi alunecă glesnele.

You have given plenty of room for my steps under me, that my feet would not slip.

37 U rmăresc pe vrăjmaşii mei, îi ajung, şi nu mă întorc pînă nu -i nimicesc.

I pursued my enemies and overtook them; neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

38 Î i zdrobesc, de nu pot să se mai ridice: ei cad supt picioarele mele.

I smote them so that they were not able to rise; they fell wounded under my feet.

39 T u mă încingi cu putere pentru luptă, şi răpui pe protivnicii mei supt picioarele mele.

For You have girded me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me and caused to bow down those who rose up against me.

40 T u faci pe vrăjmaşii mei să dea dosul înaintea mea, şi eu nimicesc pe cei ce mă urăsc.

You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.

41 E i strigă, dar n'are cine să -i scape! Strigă către Domnul, dar nu le răspunde!

They cried, but there was none to deliver—even unto the Lord, but He answered them not.

42 Î i pisez ca praful, pe care -l ia vîntul, îi calc în picioare ca noroiul de pe uliţe.

Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I emptied them out as the dirt and mire of the streets.

43 T u mă scapi din neînţelegerile poporului; mă pui în fruntea neamurilor; un popor, pe care nu -l cunoaşteam, îmi este supus.

You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; You made me the head of the nations; a people I had not known served me.

44 E l ascultă de mine la cea dintîi poruncă, fiii străinului mă linguşesc.

As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me; foreigners submitted themselves cringingly and yielded feigned obedience to me.

45 F iilor străinului li se moaie inima de mine, şi ies tremurînd din cetăţuile lor.

Foreigners lost heart and came trembling out of their caves or strongholds.

46 T răiască Domnul, şi binecuvîntată să fie Stînca mea! Mărit să fie Dumnezeul mîntuirii mele,

The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted,

47 D umnezeu, răzbunătorul meu, care îmi supune popoarele,

The God Who avenges me and subdues peoples under me,

48 ş i mă izbăveşte de vrăjmaşii mei! Tu mă înalţi mai pesus de protivnicii mei, mă scapi de omul asupritor.

Who delivers me from my enemies; yes, You lift me up above those who rise up against me; You deliver me from the man of violence.

49 D eaceea, Doamne, Te voi lăuda printre neamuri, voi cînta spre slava Numelui Tău.

Therefore will I give thanks and extol You, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to Your name.

50 E l dă mari izbăviri împăratului Său, şi dă îndurare unsului Său: lui David, şi seminţei lui, pe vecie.

Great deliverances and triumphs gives He to His king; and He shows mercy and steadfast love to His anointed, to David and his offspring forever.
