1 Î n ziua aceea, se va cînta următoarea cîntare în ţara lui Iuda:,, Avem o cetate tare; Dumnezeu ne dă mîntuirea ca ziduri şi întăritură.

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks.

2 D eschideţi porţile, ca să intre neamul cel neprihănit şi credincios.

Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps her faith and her troth may enter in.

3 C elui cu inima tare, Tu -i chezăşluieşti pacea; da, pacea, căci se încrede în Tine.

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

4 Î ncredeţi-vă în Domnul pe vecie, căci Domnul Dumnezeu este Stînca veacurilor.

So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock.

5 E l a răsturnat pe ceice locuiau pe înălţimi, El a plecat cetatea îngîmfată; a doborît -o la pămînt, şi a aruncat -o în ţărînă.

For He has brought down the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city; He lays it low, lays it low to the ground; He brings it even to the dust.

6 E a este călcată în picioare, în picioarele săracilor, supt paşii celor obijduiţi.

The foot has trampled it down—even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

7 C alea dreptului este neprihănirea; Tu, care eşti fără prihană, netezeşti cărarea dreptului.

The way of the righteous (those living in moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relationship of their lives) is level and straight; You, O, Who are upright, direct aright and make level the path of the just and righteous.

8 D e aceea Te aşteptăm, Doamne, şi pe calea judecăţilor Tale; sufletul nostru suspină după Numele Tău şi după pomenirea Ta.

Yes, in the path of Your judgments, O Lord, we wait for You; our heartfelt desire is for Your name and for the remembrance of You.

9 S ufletul meu Te doreşte noaptea, şi duhul meu Te caută înlăuntrul meu. Căci, cînd se împlinesc judecăţile Tale pe pămînt, locuitorii lumii învaţă dreptatea.

My soul yearns for You in the night, yes, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly; for when Your judgments are in the earth will the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God).

10 D acă ierţi pe cel rău, el totuş nu învaţă neprihănirea, se dedă la rău în ţara în care domneşte neprihănirea, şi nu caută la măreţia Domnului.

Though favor is shown to the wicked, yet they do not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness they deal perversely and refuse to see the majesty of the Lord.

11 D oamne, mîna Ta este puternică: ei n'o zăresc! Dar vor vedea rîvna Ta pentru poporul Tău, şi vor fi ruşinaţi; va arde focul pe vrăjmaşii Tăi.

Though Your hand is lifted high to strike, Lord, they do not see it. Let them see Your zeal for Your people and be ashamed; yes, let the fire reserved for Your enemies consume them.

12 D ar nouă, Doamne, Tu ne dai pace, căci tot ce facem noi, Tu împlineşti pentru noi.

Lord, You will ordain peace (God’s favor and blessings, both temporal and spiritual) for us, for You have also wrought in us and for us all our works.

13 D oamne, Dumnezeul nostru, alţi stăpîni afară de Tine au stăpînit peste noi, dar acum numai pe Tine, şi numai Numele Tău îl chemăm.

O Lord, our God, other masters besides You have ruled over us, but we will acknowledge and mention Your name only.

14 C eice sînt morţi acum nu vor mai trăi, sînt nişte umbre, şi nu se vor mai scula; căci Tu i-ai pedepsit, i-ai nimicit, şi le-ai şters pomenirea.

They are dead, they shall not live and reappear; they are powerless ghosts, they shall not rise and come back. Therefore You have visited and made an end of them and caused every memory of them to perish.

15 Î nmulţeşte poporul, Doamne! Înmulţeşte poporul, arată-Ţi slava; dă înapoi toate hotarele ţării.

You have increased the nation, O Lord; You have increased the nation. You are glorified; You have enlarged all the borders of the land.

16 D oamne, ei Te-au căutat, cînd erau în strîmtorare; au început să se roage, cînd i-ai pedepsit.

Lord, when they were in trouble and distress, they sought and visited You; they poured out a prayerful whisper when Your chastening was upon them.

17 C um se svîrcoleşte o femeie însărcinată, gata să nască, şi cum strigă ea în mijlocul durerilor ei, aşa am fost noi, departe de Faţa Ta, Doamne!

As a woman with child drawing near the time of her delivery is in pain and writhes and cries out in her pangs, so we have been before You (at Your presence), O Lord.

18 A m zămislit, am simţit dureri, şi, cînd să naştem, am născut vînt: ţara nu este mîntuită, şi locuitorii ei nu sînt născuţi.

We have been with child, we have been writhing and in pain; we have, as it were, brought forth wind. We have not wrought any deliverance in the earth, and the inhabitants of the world have not yet been born.

19 S ă învie dar morţii Tăi! Să se scoale trupurile mele moarte! -Treziţi-vă şi săriţi de bucurie, ceice locuiţi în ţărînă! Căci roua Ta este o rouă dătătoare de viaţă, şi pămîntul va scoate iarăş afară pe cei morţi.``

Your dead shall live; the bodies of our dead shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For Your dew is a dew of light; and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

20 D u-te, poporul meu, intră în odaia ta, şi încuie uşa după tine; ascunde-te cîte-va clipe, pînă va trece mînia!

Come, my people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the wrath is past.

21 C ăci iată, Domnul iese din locuinţa Lui, să pedepsească nelegiuirile locuitorilor pămîntului; şi pămîntul va da sîngele pe faţă, şi nu va mai acoperi uciderile.

For behold, the Lord is coming out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth also will disclose the blood shed upon her and will no longer cover her slain and conceal her guilt.
