1 D upă aceea, Isus străbătea Galilea; nu voia să stea în Iudea, pentrucă Iudeii căutau să -L omoare.

After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee, for He would not travel in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.

2 Ş i praznicul Iudeilor, praznicul zis al Corturilor, era aproape.

Now the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was drawing near.

3 F raţii Lui I-au zis:,, Pleacă de aici, şi du-Te în Iudea, ca să vadă şi ucenicii Tăi lucrările, pe cari le faci.

So His brothers said to Him, Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples may also see the works that You do.

4 N imeni nu face ceva în ascuns, cînd caută să se facă cunoscut: dacă faci aceste lucruri, arată-Te lumii.``

For no one does anything in secret when he wishes to be conspicuous and secure publicity. If You do these things, show Yourself openly and make Yourself known to the world!

5 C ăci nici fraţii Lui nu credeau în El.

For His brothers did not believe in or adhere to or trust in or rely on Him either.

6 I sus le -a zis:,, Vremea Mea n'a sosit încă, dar vouă vremea totdeauna vă este prielnică.

Whereupon Jesus said to them, My time (opportunity) has not come yet; but any time is suitable for you and your opportunity is ready any time.

7 P e voi lumea nu vă poate urî; pe Mine Mă urăşte, pentrucă mărturisesc despre ea că lucrările ei sînt rele.

The world cannot hate you, but it does hate Me because I denounce it for its wicked works and reveal that its doings are evil.

8 S uiţi-vă voi la praznicul acesta; Eu încă nu Mă sui la praznicul acesta, fiindcă nu Mi s'a împlinit încă vremea.``

Go to the Feast yourselves. I am not going up to the Festival, because My time is not ripe.

9 D upăce le -a spus aceste lucruri, a rămas în Galilea.

Having said these things to them, He stayed behind in Galilee.

10 D upă ce s'au suit fraţii Lui la praznic, S'a suit şi El, dar nu pe faţă, ci cam pe ascuns.

But afterward, when His brothers had gone up to the Feast, He went up also, not publicly, but by Himself quietly and as if He did not wish to be observed.

11 I udeii Îl căutau în timpul praznicului, şi ziceau:,, Unde este?``

Therefore the Jews kept looking for Him at the Feast and asking, Where can He be?

12 N oroadele vorbeau mult în şoaptă despre El. Unii ziceau:,, Este un om bun.`` Alţii ziceau:,, Nu, ci duce norodul în rătăcire.``

And there was among the mass of the people much whispered discussion and hot disputing about Him. Some were saying, He is good! Others said, No, He misleads and deceives the people!

13 T otuş, de frica Iudeilor, nimeni nu vorbea de El pe faţă.

But no one dared speak out boldly about Him for fear of the Jews.

14 P ela jumătatea praznicului, Isus S'a suit la Templu. Şi învăţa norodul.

When the Feast was already half over, Jesus went up into the temple '> court] and began to teach.

15 I udeii se mirau, şi ziceau:,, Cum are omul acesta învăţătură, căci n'a învăţat niciodată?``

The Jews were astonished. They said, How is it that this Man has learning when He has never studied?

16 I sus le -a răspuns:,,Învăţătura Mea nu este a Mea, ci a Celuice M'a trimes pe Mine.

Jesus answered them by saying, My teaching is not My own, but His Who sent Me.

17 D acă vrea cineva să facă voia Lui, va ajunge să cunoască dacă învăţătura este de la Dumnezeu, sau dacă Eu vorbesc dela Mine.

If any man desires to do His will (God’s pleasure), he will know (have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself) whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from Myself and of My own accord and on My own authority.

18 C ine vorbeşte dela sine, caută slava lui însuş; dar cine caută slava Celuice l -a trimes, acela este adevărat, şi în el nu este strîmbătate.

He who speaks on his own authority seeks to win honor for himself. But He Who seeks the glory and is eager for the honor of Him Who sent Him, He is true; and there is no unrighteousness or falsehood or deception in Him.

19 O are nu v'a dat Moise Legea? Totuş nimeni din voi nu ţine Legea. De ce căutaţi să Mă omorîţi?``

Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law. why do you seek to kill Me ?

20 N orodul I -a răspuns:,, Ai drac. Cine caută să Te omoare?``

The crowd answered Him, You are possessed by a demon! Who seeks to kill You?

21 D rept răspuns, Isus le -a zis:,, O lucrare am făcut, şi toţi vă miraţi de ea.

Jesus answered them, I did one work, and you all are astounded.

22 M oise v'a dat porunca privitoare la tăierea împrejur-nu că ea vine dela Moise, ci dela patriarhi-şi voi tăiaţi împrejur pe om în ziua Sabatului.

Now Moses established circumcision among you—though it did not originate with Moses but with the previous patriarchs—and you circumcise a person on the Sabbath day.

23 D acă un om primeşte tăierea împrejur în ziua Sabatului, ca să nu se calce Legea lui Moise, de ce turbaţi de mînie împotriva Mea, pentrucă am însănătoşat un om întreg în ziua Sabatului?

If, to avoid breaking the Law of Moses, a person undergoes circumcision on the Sabbath day, have you any cause to be angry with (indignant with, bitter against) Me for making a man’s whole body well on the Sabbath?

24 N u judecaţi după înfăţişare, ci judecaţi după dreptate.``

Be honest in your judgment and do not decide at a glance (superficially and by appearances); but judge fairly and righteously.

25 N işte locuitori din Ierusalim ziceau:,, Nu este El acela, pe care caută ei să -L omoare?

Then some of the Jerusalem people said, Is not this the Man they seek to kill?

26 Ş i totuş, iată că vorbeşte pe faţă, şi ei nu -I zic nimic! Nu cumva, în adevăr, cei mai mari vor fi cunoscut că El este Hristosul?

And here He is speaking openly, and they say nothing to Him! Can it be possible that the rulers have discovered and know that this is truly the Christ?

27 D ar noi ştim de unde este omul acesta; însă, cînd va veni Hristosul, nimeni nu va şti de unde este.``

No, we know where this Man comes from; when the Christ arrives, no one is to know from what place He comes.

28 Ş i Isus, pe cînd învăţa pe norod în Templu, striga:,, Mă cunoaşteţi şi Mă ştiţi de unde sînt! Eu n'am venit dela Mine însumi, ci Cel ce M'a trimes, este adevărat, şi voi nu -L cunoaşteţi.

Whereupon Jesus called out as He taught in the temple '> porches], Do you know Me, and do you know where I am from? I have not come on My own authority and of My own accord and as self-appointed, but the One Who sent Me is true (real, genuine, steadfast); and Him you do not know!

29 E u Îl cunosc, căci vin dela El, şi El M'a trimes.``

I know Him because I come from His presence, and it was He Who sent Me.

30 E i căutau deci să -L prindă; şi nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El, căci încă nu -I sosise ceasul.

Therefore they were eager to arrest Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, for His hour (time) had not yet come.

31 M ulţi din norod au crezut în El, şi ziceau:,, Cînd va veni Hristosul, va face mai multe semne decît a făcut omul acesta?``

And besides, many of the multitude believed in Him. And they kept saying, When the Christ comes, will He do more miracles and produce more proofs and signs than what this Man has done?

32 F ariseii au auzit pe norod spunînd în şoaptă aceste lucruri despre El. Atunci preoţii cei mai de seamă şi Fariseii au trimes nişte aprozi să -L prindă.

The Pharisees learned how the people were saying these things about Him under their breath; and the chief priests and Pharisees sent attendants (guards) to arrest Him.

33 I sus a zis:,, Mai sînt cu voi puţină vreme, şi apoi Mă duc la Cel ce M'a trimes.

Therefore Jesus said, For a little while I am with you, and then I go back to Him Who sent Me.

34 V oi Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni.``

You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; where I am, you cannot come.

35 I udeii au zis între ei:,, Unde are de gînd să se ducă omul acesta, ca să nu -l putem găsi? Doar n'o avea de gînd să se ducă la cei împrăştiaţi printre Greci, şi să înveţe pe Greci?

Then the Jews said among themselves, Where does this Man intend to go that we shall not find Him? Will He go to the Jews who are scattered in the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

36 C e însemnează cuvintele acestea, pe cari le -a spus:, Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni?``

What does this statement of His mean, You will look for Me and not be able to find Me, and, Where I am, you cannot come?

37 Î n ziua de pe urmă, care era ziua cea mare a praznicului, Isus a stătut în picioare, şi a strigat:,, Dacă însetează cineva, să vină la Mine, şi să bea.

Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!

38 C ine crede în Mine, din inima lui vor curge rîuri de apă vie, cum zice Scriptura.``

He who believes in Me as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow springs and rivers of living water.

39 S punea cuvintele acestea despre Duhul, pe care aveau să -L primească ceice vor crede în El. Căci Duhul Sfînt încă nu fusese dat, fiindcă Isus nu fusese încă proslăvit.

But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).

40 U nii din norod, cînd au auzit aceste cuvinte, ziceau:,, Acesta este cu adevărat Proorocul.``

Listening to those words, some of the multitude said, This is certainly and beyond doubt the Prophet!

41 A lţii ziceau:,, Acesta este Hristosul.`` Şi alţii ziceau:,, Cum, din Galilea are să vină Hristosul?

Others said, This is the Christ (the Messiah, Anointed One)! But some said, What? Does the Christ come out of Galilee?

42 N u zice Scriptura că Hristosul are să vină din sămînţa lui David, şi din satul Betleem, unde era David?``

Does not the Scripture tell us that the Christ will come from the offspring of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?

43 S 'a făcut deci desbinare în norod din pricina Lui.

So there arose a division and dissension among the people concerning Him.

44 U nii din ei voiau să -L prindă; dar nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El.

Some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

45 A prozii s'au întors deci la preoţii cei mai de seamă şi la Farisei. Şi aceştia le-au zis:,, De ce nu L-aţi adus?``

Meanwhile the attendants (guards) had gone back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, Why have you not brought Him here with you?

46 A prozii au răspuns:,, Niciodată n'a vorbit vreun om ca omul acesta.``

The attendants replied, Never has a man talked as this Man talks!

47 F ariseii le-au răspuns:,, Doar n'aţi fi fost duşi şi voi în rătăcire?

The Pharisees said to them, Are you also deluded and led astray?

48 A crezut în El vreunul din mai marii noştri sau din Farisei?

Has any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in Him?

49 D ar norodul acesta, care nu ştie Legea, este blestemat!``

As for this multitude (rabble) that does not know the Law, they are contemptible and doomed and accursed!

50 N icodim, cel care venise la Isus noaptea, şi care era unul din ei, le -a zis:

Then Nicodemus, who came to Jesus before at night and was one of them, asked,

51 L egea noastră osîndeşte ea pe un om înainte ca să -l asculte şi să ştie ce face?``

Does our Law convict a man without giving him a hearing and finding out what he has done?

52 D rept răspuns, ei i-au zis:,,Şi tu eşti din Galilea? Cercetează bine, şi vei vedea că din Galilea nu s'a ridicat niciun prooroc.``

They answered him, Are you too from Galilee? Search, and you will see that no prophet comes (will rise to prominence) from Galilee.

53 ( Şi s'a întors fiecare acasă.

And they went, each to his own house.
