Now the leaders of the people dwelt at Jerusalem; the rest of the people also cast lots to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine-tenths dwelt in other towns and villages.

2 P oporul a binecuvîntat pe toţi cei ce au primit de bună voie să locuiască la Ierusalim.

And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered to live in Jerusalem.

3 I ată căpeteniile ţinutului cari s'au aşezat la Ierusalim. În cetăţile lui Iuda, fiecare s'a aşezat în moşia lui, în cetatea lui Israel, preoţii şi Leviţii, slujitorii Templului, şi fiii robilor lui Solomon.

These are the province chiefs who dwelt in Jerusalem, but in the towns of Judah everyone lived on his property there—Israelites, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the descendants of Solomon’s servants.

4 L a Ierusalim s'au aşezat unii din fiii lui Iuda şi din fiii lui Beniamin. -Din fiii lui Iuda: Ataia, fiul lui Ozia, fiul lui Zaharia, fiul lui Amaria, fiul lui Şefatia, fiul lui Mahalaleel, din fiii lui Pereţ,

And at Jerusalem dwelt certain of the sons of Judah and Benjamin. Of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez;

All the sons of Perez who dwelt at Jerusalem were 468 valiant men.

7 I ată fiii lui Beniamin: Salu, fiul lui Meşulam, fiul lui Ioed, fiul lui Pedaia, fiul lui Colaia, fiul lui Maaseia, fiul lui Itiel, fiul lui Isaia,

These are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah,

And of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

16 Ş abetai şi Iozabad, însărcinaţi cu treburile de afară ale Casei lui Dumnezeu, şi făcînd parte din căpeteniile Leviţilor;

And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, who had charge of the outside work of the house of God;

17 M atania, fiul lui Mica, fiul lui Zabdi, fiul lui Asaf, căpetenia care cînta lauda la rugăciune, şi Bacbuchia, al doilea din fraţii săi, şi Abda, fiul lui Şamua, fiul lui Galal, fiul lui Iedutun.

Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, the leader to begin the thanksgiving in prayer; and Bakbukiah, second among his brethren; and Abda son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

18 T oţi Leviţii din cetatea sfîntă erau două sute optzeci şi patru.

The Levites in the holy city were 284.

19 Ş i uşierii: Acub, Talmon, şi fraţii lor, păzitorii porţilor, o sută şapte zeci şi doi.

The gatekeepers: Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren, who kept watch, were 172.

20 C ealaltă parte din Israel, din preoţi, şi din Leviţi, s'au aşezat în toate cetăţile lui Iuda, fiecare în moşia lui.

And the rest of Israel, with the priests and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, each in his inheritance.

21 S lujitorii Templului s'au aşezat pe deal, şi aveau de căpetenii pe Ţiha şi Ghişpa.

But the temple servants dwelt on Ophel; Ziha and Gishpa were over.

22 C ăpetenia Leviţilor la Ierusalim era Uzi, fiul lui Bani, fiul lui Haşabia, fiul lui Matania, fiul lui Mica, dintre fiii lui Asaf, cîntăreţii însărcinaţi cu slujba Casei lui Dumnezeu;

Overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem and the work of God’s house was Uzzi son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of Asaph’s sons, the singers.

23 c ăci era o poruncă a împăratului cu privire la cîntăreţi, şi li se dădea o parte hotărîtă pe fiecare zi.

For the king had ordered concerning them that a certain provision be made for the singers, as each day required.

24 P etahia, fiul lui Meşezabeel, din fiii lui Zerah, fiul lui Iuda, era dregătorul împăratului pentru toate treburile poporului.

Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, of the sons of Zerah son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

25 C ît despre sate şi cîmpiile lor, unii din fiii lui Iuda s'au aşezat la Chiriat-Arba şi în locurile cari ţin de el, la Dibon şi în locurile cari ţin de el, Iecabţeel şi în satele cari ţin de el,

As for the villages with their fields, some people of Judah dwelt in Kiriath-arba, Dibon, and Jekabzeel, and their villages,

31 F iii lui Beniamin s'au aşezat, dela Gheba la Micmaş, la Aia, la Betel şi în locurile cari ţin de el,

The people of Benjamin also dwelt from Geba onward, at Michmash, Aija, Bethel and its villages,

32 l a Anatot, la Nob, la Hanania,

At Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,

33 l a Haţor, la Rama, la Ghitaim,

Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,

34 l a Hadid, la Ţeboim, la Nebalat,

Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,

35 l a Lod, şi la Ono, valea lucrătorilor.

36 A u fost unii Leviţi cari s'au unit cu Beniamin, măcar că făceau parte din cetele lui Iuda.

And certain divisions of the Levites in Judah were joined to Benjamin.
