1 N u, mîna Domnului nu este prea scurtă ca să mîntuiască, nici urechea Lui prea tare ca să audă,

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened at all, that it cannot save, nor His ear dull with deafness, that it cannot hear.

2 c i nelegiuirile voastre pun un zid de despărţire între voi şi Dumnezeul vostru; păcatele voastre vă ascund Faţa Lui şi -L împiedecă să v'asculte!

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

3 C ăci mînile vă sînt mînjite de sînge, şi degetele de nelegiuiri; buzele voastre spun minciuni, şi limba voastră vorbeşte nelegiuiri.

For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness.

4 N iciunuia nu -i place dreptatea, niciunul nu se judecă cu dreptate; ei se bizuiesc pe lucruri deşerte şi spun neadevăruri, zămislesc răul, şi nasc nelegiuirea.

None sues or calls in righteousness; no one goes to law honestly and pleads in truth; they trust in emptiness, worthlessness and futility, and speaking lies! They conceive mischief and bring forth evil!

5 C locesc ouă de basilic şi ţes pînze de păianjen. Cine mănîncă din ouăle lor, moare; şi dacă se sparge vreunul, iese o năpîrcă.

They hatch adders’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; he who eats of their eggs dies, and which is crushed a viper breaks out.

6 P înzele lor nu slujesc la facerea hainelor, şi nu pot să se acopere cu lucrare lor; căci lucrările lor sînt nişte lucrări nelegiuite, şi în mînile lor sînt fapte de sîlnicie.

Their webs will not serve as clothing, nor will they cover themselves with what they make; their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

7 P icioarele lor aleargă spre rău, şi se grăbesc să verse sînge nevinovat; gîndurile lor sînt gînduri nelegiuite, prăpădul şi nimicirea sînt pe drumul lor.

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths and highways.

8 E i nu cunosc calea păcii, şi în căile lor nu este dreptate; apucă pe cărări sucite: oricine umblă pe ele, nu cunoaşte pacea. -

The way of peace they know not, and there is no justice or right in their goings. They have made them into crooked paths; whoever goes in them does not know peace.

9 D eaceea hotărîrea de izbăvire este departe de noi şi mîntuirea nu ne ajunge. Aşteptăm lumina, şi iată întunerecul, lucirea, şi umblăm în negură!

Therefore are justice and right far from us, and righteousness and salvation do not overtake us. We expectantly wait for light, but see darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity and gloom.

10 B îjbăim ca nişte orbi dealungul unui zid, bîjbăim ca ceice n'au ochi, ne poticnim ziua nameaza mare, ca noaptea, în mijlocul celor sănătoşi sîntem ca nişte morţi.

We grope for the wall like the blind, yes, we grope like those who have no eyes. We stumble at noonday as in the twilight; in dark places and among those who are full of life and vigor, we are as dead men.

11 M ormăim cu toţii ca nişte urşi, ne văităm ca nişte porumbei, aşteptăm izbăvirea, şi nu este, aşteptăm mîntuirea, şi ea este departe de noi.

We all groan and growl like bears and moan plaintively like doves. We look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us.

12 C ăci fărădelegile noastre sînt multe înaintea Ta, şi păcatele noastre mărturisesc împotriva noastră; fărădelegile noastre sînt cu noi, şi ne cunoaştem nelegiuirile noastre.

For our transgressions are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know and recognize them:

13 A m fost vinovaţi şi necredincioşi faţă de Domnul, am părăsit pe Dumnezeul nostru; am vorbit cu apăsare şi răzvrătire, am cugetat şi vorbit cuvinte mincinoase;

Rebelling against and denying the Lord, turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving in and muttering and moaning from the heart words of falsehood.

14 ş i astfel izbăvirea s'a întors îndărăt, şi mîntuirea a stat deoparte; căci adevărul s'a poticnit în piaţa de obşte şi neprihănirea nu poate să se apropie.

Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) stands far off; for truth has fallen in the street (the city’s forum), and uprightness cannot enter.

15 A devărul s'a făcut nevăzut, şi cel ce se depărtează de rău este jăfuit. Domnul vede, cu privirea mînioasă, că nu mai este nicio neprihănire.

Yes, truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice.

16 E l vede că nu este nici un om, şi Se miră că nimeni nu mijloceşte. Atunci braţul Lui Îi vine în ajutor, şi neprihănirea Lui Îl sprijineşte.

And He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought Him victory, and His own righteousness sustained Him.

17 S e îmbracă cu neprihănire ca şi cu o platoşă, Îşi pune pe cap coiful mîntuirii; ia răzbunarea ca o haină, şi Se acopere cu gelozia ca şi cu o manta.

For put on righteousness as a breastplate or coat of mail, and salvation as a helmet upon His head; He put on garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

18 E l va răsplăti fiecăruia după faptele lui, va da protivnicilor Săi mînia, va întoarce la fel vrăjmaşilor săi, şi va da ostroavelor plata cuvenită!

According as their deeds deserve, so will He repay wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies; on the foreign islands and coastlands He will make compensation.

19 A tunci se vor teme de Numele Domnului cei dela apus, şi de slava Lui cei dela răsăritul soarelui; cînd va năvăli vrăjmaşul ca un rîu, Duhul Domnului îl va pune pe fugă.

So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight.

20 D a, va veni un Răscumpărător pentru Sion, pentru cei ai lui Iacov, cari se vor întoarce dela păcatele lor, zice Domnul.

He shall come as a Redeemer to Zion and to those in Jacob (Israel) who turn from transgression, says the Lord.

21 i ată legămîntul Meu, cu ei, zice Domnul:, Duhul Meu, care Se odihneşte peste tine, şi cuvintele Mele, pe cari le-am pus în gura ta, nu se vor mai depărta din gura ta, nici din gura copiilor tăi, nici din gura copiilor copiilor tăi, de acum şi pînă'n veac, zice Domnul.``

As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord: My Spirit, Who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your children, or out of the mouths of your children’s children, says the Lord, from henceforth and forever.
