1 A cum, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, care te -a făcut, Iacove, şi Cel ce te -a întocmit, Israele!`` Nu te teme de nimic, căci Eu te izbăvesc, te chem pe nume: eşti al Meu.``

But now, thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

2 D acă vei trece prin ape, Eu voi fi cu tine; şi rîurile nu te vor îneca; dacă vei merge prin foc, nu te va arde, şi flacăra nu te va aprinde.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.

3 C ăci Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, Sfîntul lui Israel, Mîntuitorul tău! Eu dau Egiptul ca preţ pentru răscumpărarea ta, Etiopia şi Saba în locul tău.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange.

4 D e aceea, pentrucă ai preţ în ochii Mei, pentrucă eşti preţuit şi te iubesc, dau oameni pentru tine, şi popoare pentru viaţa ta.

Because you are precious in My sight and honored, and because I love you, I will give men in return for you and peoples in exchange for your life.

5 N u te teme de nimic, căci Eu sînt cu tine, Eu voi aduce înapoi neamul tău dela răsărit, şi te voi strînge dela apus.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.

6 V oi zice miază noaptei:, Dă încoace!` şi miazăzilei:, Nu opri`, ci adu-Mi fiii din ţările depărtate şi fiicele dela marginea pămîntului:

I will say to the north, Give up! and to the south, Keep not back. Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth—

7 p e toţi ceice poartă Numele Meu şi pe cari i-am făcut spre slava Mea, pe cari i-am întocmit şi i-am alcătuit.``

Even everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, whom I have made.

8 S coate afară poporul cel orb, care totuş are ochi, şi surzii, cari totuş au urechi.

Bring forth the blind people who have eyes and the deaf who have ears.

9 S ă se strîngă toate neamurile şi să se adune popoarele! Cine dintre ei a vestit aceste lucruri? Cari dintre ei ne-au făcut cele dintîi proorocii? Să-şi aducă martorii şi să-şi dovedească dreptatea, ca să asculte oamenii şi să zică:, Adevărat!`` -

Let all the nations be gathered together and let the peoples be assembled. Who among could predict this and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified, or let them hear and acknowledge, It is the truth.

10 V oi sînteţi martorii Mei-, zice Domnul, -voi şi Robul Meu pe care L-am ales, ca să ştiţi, ca să Mă credeţi şi să înţelegeţi că Eu sînt: înainte de Mine n'a fost făcut niciun Dumnezeu, şi după Mine nu va fi,

You are My witnesses, says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know Me, believe Me and remain steadfast to Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.

11 E u, Eu sînt Domnul, şi afară de Mine nu este niciun Mîntuitor!

I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior.

12 E u am vestit, am mîntuit, am proorocit, nu sînt străin între voi; voi Îmi sînteţi martori-, zice Domnul, -că Eu sînt Dumnezeu.

I have declared and have saved, and I have shown —when there was no strange and alien god among you; therefore you are My witnesses, says the Lord, that I am God.

13 E u sînt dela început, şi nimeni nu izbăveşte din mîna Mea; cînd lucrez Eu, cine se poate împotrivi?``

Yes, from the time of the first existence of day and from this day forth I am He; and there is no one who can deliver out of My hand. I will work, and who can hinder or reverse it?

14 A şa vorbeşte Domnul, Răscumpărătorul vostru, Sfîntul lui Israel:, Din pricina voastră, trimet pe vrăjmaş împotriva Babilonului, şi pogor pe toţi fugarii, chiar şi pe Haldei, pe corăbiile cu cari se făleau.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring down all of them as fugitives, all their nobles, even the Chaldeans, into the ships over which they rejoiced.

15 E u sînt Domnul, Sfîntul vostru, Făcătorul lui Israel, Împăratul vostru.``

I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

16 A şa vorbeşte Domnul, care a croit un drum pe mare, şi o cărare pe apele cele puternice,

Thus says the Lord, Who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters,

17 c are a scos cară şi cai, o oştire şi războinici viteji, culcaţi deodată împreună, ca să nu se mai scoale, nimiciţi, şi stinşi ca un muc de lumînare:

Who brings forth chariot and horse, army and mighty warrior. They lie down together, they cannot rise; they are extinguished, they are quenched like a lampwick:

18 N u vă mai gîndiţi la ce a fost mai înainte, şi nu vă mai uitaţi la cele vechi!

Do not remember the former things; neither consider the things of old.

19 I ată, voi face ceva nou, şi -i gata să se întîmple: să nu -l cunoaşteţi voi oare? Voi face un drum prin pustie, şi rîuri în locuri secetoase.

Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

20 F iarele cîmpului Mă vor slăvi, şacalii şi struţii, pentrucă voi da ape în pustie, şi rîuri în locuri secetoase, ca să adăp pe poporul Meu, pe poporul Meu cel ales,

The beasts of the field honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen,

21 p oporul pe care Mi l-am alcătuit, ca să vestească laudele Mele.``

The people I formed for Myself, that they may set forth My praise.

22 t u nu M'ai chemat, Iacove, căci te-ai obosit de Mine, Israele!

Yet you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of Me, O Israel!

23 N u Mi-ai adus oile tale ca ardere de tot, şi nu M'ai cinstit cu jertfele tale. Nu te-am chinuit cu daruri de mîncare, pe cari trebuia să Mi le aduci; şi nu te-am obosit cu jertfe de tămîie.

You have not brought Me your sheep and goats for burnt offerings, or honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not required you to serve with an offering or treated you as a slave by demanding tribute or wearied you with offering incense.

24 N u Mi-ai cumpărat trestie mirositoare cu argint, şi nu M'ai săturat cu grăsimea jertfelor tale: dar tu M'ai chinuit cu păcatele tale, şi M'ai obosit cu nelegiuirile tale.

You have not bought Me sweet cane with money, or satiated Me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have only burdened Me with your sins; you have wearied Me with your iniquities.

25 E u, Eu îţi şterg fărădelegile, pentru Mine, şi nu-Mi voi mai aduce aminte de păcatele tale.

I, even I, am He Who blots out and cancels your transgressions, for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

26 A du-Mi aminte, să ne judecăm împreună, vorbeşte tu însuţi, ca să-ţi scoţi dreptatea.

Put Me in remembrance; let us plead and argue together. Set forth your case, that you may be justified (proved right).

27 C el dintîi tată al tău a păcătuit, şi învăţătorii tăi s'au răsvrătit împotriva Mea.

Your first father sinned, and your teachers transgressed against Me.

28 D e aceea am socotit ca nişte pîngăriţi pe căpeteniile sfîntului locaş, am dat pierzării pe Iacov, şi batjocorii pe Israel.``

And so I will profane the chief ones of the sanctuary and will deliver Jacob to the curse (the ban, a solemn anathema or excommunication) and Israel to reproaches and reviling.
