1 T oată adunarea copiilor lui Israel s'a strîns la Silo, şi au aşezat acolo cortul întîlnirii. Ţara era supusă înaintea lor.

And the whole congregation of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there; and the land was subdued before them.

2 M ai rămîneau şapte seminţii ale copiilor lui Israel, cari nu-şi primiseră încă partea de moştenire.

And there remained among the Israelites seven tribes who had not yet divided their inheritance.

3 I osua a zis copiilor lui Israel:,, Pînă cînd vă veţi lenevi să mergeţi să luaţi în stăpînire ţara pe care v'a dat -o Domnul, Dumnezeul părinţilor voştri?

Joshua asked the Israelites, How long will you be slack to go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?

4 A legeţi trei bărbaţi de fiecare seminţie, şi -i voi porni. Să se scoale, să străbată ţara, să facă un plan în vederea împărţelii, şi să se întoarcă la mine.

Provide three men from each tribe, and I will send them to go through the land and write a description of it according to their inheritances; then they shall return to me.

5 S 'o împartă în şapte părţi; Iuda să rămînă în hotarele lui la miazăzi, şi casa lui Iosif să rămînă în hotarele ei la miază noapte.

And they shall divide it into seven parts. Judah shall remain in its territory on the south and the house of Joseph shall remain in its territory on the north.

6 V oi dar, să faceţi un plan al ţării împărţite în şapte părţi, şi să mi -l aduceţi aici. Voi arunca sorţul pentru voi înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru.

You shall describe the land in seven divisions, and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

7 D ar Leviţii să n'aibă parte în mijlocul vostru, căci moştenirea lor este preoţia Domnului; şi Gad, Ruben şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase, şi-au primit moştenirea, pe care le -a dat -o Moise, robul Domnului, de cealaltă parte a Iordanului, la răsărit.``

But the Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance. Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance east of the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.

8 C înd s'au sculat bărbaţii şi au pornit să facă planul ţării, Iosua le -a dat porunca aceasta:,, Duceţi-vă, străbateţi ţara, faceţi-mi un plan, şi întoarceţi-vă la mine; apoi eu voi arunca pentru voi sorţul înaintea Domnului, la Silo.``

So the men arose and went, and Joshua charged them saying, Go and walk through the land and describe it and come again to me, and I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.

9 B ărbaţii aceştia au plecat, au străbătut ţara, şi au făcut planul după cetăţi, într'o carte, împărţind -o în şapte părţi, şi s'au întors la Iosua în tabără la Silo.

And the men went and passed through the land and described it by cities in seven portions in a book; and they came again to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.

10 I osua a aruncat înaintea Domnului sorţi pentru ei la Silo, şi a împărţit ţara între copiii lui Israel, dînd fiecăruia partea lui.

Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord, and there divided the land to the Israelites, to each his portion.

11 S orţul a căzut pe seminţia fiilor lui Beniamin, după familiile lor, şi partea care le -a căzut prin sorţi îşi avea hotarele între fiii lui Iuda şi fiii lui Iosif.

And the lot of the Benjamites came up according to their families; and the territory of their lot fell between the tribes of Judah and Joseph.

12 Î n spre miază-noapte, hotarul lor pornea dela Iordan. Suia pela miază noapte de Ierihon, se ridica în munte spre apus, şi ieşea în pustia Bet-Aven.

On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan; then it went up to the shoulder of Jericho on the north and up through the hill country westward and ended at the Beth-aven wilderness.

13 D e acolo trecea prin Luz, la miazăzi de Luz, adică Betel, şi se pogora la Atarot-Adar, peste muntele care este la miază-zi de Bet-Horonul de jos.

Then the boundary passed over southward toward Luz, to the shoulder of Luz (that is, Bethel); then it went down to Ataroth-addar by the mountain that lies south of Lower Beth-horon.

14 Î nspre apus, hotarul mergea şi se întorcea pela miazăzi de muntele care este în faţa Bet-Horonului; mergea spre miazăzi, şi ieşea la Chiriat-Baal, care este Chiriat-Iearim, cetatea fiilor lui Iuda. Aceasta era partea de apus.

The boundary extended from there, and turning about on the western side southward from the mountain that lies to the south opposite Beth-horon, it ended at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the tribe of Judah. This formed the western side.

15 P artea de miazăzi începea dela capătul Chiriat-Iearimului. Hotarul mergea spre apus pînă la izvorul apelor Neftoahului.

The southern side began at the edge of Kiriath-jearim, and the boundary went on westward to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.

16 S e pogora pela capătul muntelui care este în faţa văii Ben-Hinom, în valea Refaimiţilor, la miazănoapte. Se pogora prin valea Hinom, pe partea de miazăzi a Iebusiţilor, pînă la En-Roguel.

Then the boundary went down to the edge of the mountain overlooking the Valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the north end of the Valley of Rephaim; and it descended to the Valley of Hinnom, south of the shoulder of the Jebusites, and went on down to En-rogel.

17 S e îndrepta spre miază noapte la En-Şemeş, apoi la Ghelilot, care este în faţa suişului Adumim, şi se pogora pela piatra lui Bohan, fiul lui Ruben.

Then it bent toward the north and went on to En-shemesh and on to Geliloth, which was opposite the ascent of Adummim, and went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

18 T recea pe partea de miazănoapte în faţa Arabei, se pogora pela Araba,

And it went on to the north of the shoulder -Arabah and down to the Arabah.

19 m ergea înainte pe partea de miazănoapte de Bet-Hogla, şi ieşea la sînul de miazănoapte al mării Sărate, spre îmbucătura Iordanului la miazăzi. Acesta era hotarul de miazăzi.

Then the boundary passed along to the north of the shoulder of Beth-hoglah and ended at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the southern border.

20 Î nspre răsărit hotarul îl făcea Iordanul. Aceasta a fost moştenirea fiilor lui Beniamin, după familiile lor, cu hotarele ei de jur împrejur.

And the Jordan was its boundary on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin by their boundaries round about, according to their families.

21 C etăţile seminţiei fiilor lui Beniamin, după familiile lor, erau: Ierihonul, Bet-Hogla, Emec-Cheţiţ,

Now the cities of the tribe of Benjamin according to families were: Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,

22 B et-Araba, Ţemaraim, Betel,

Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,

23 A vim, Para, Ofra,

Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,

24 C hefar-Amonai, Ofni şi Gheba; douăsprezece cetăţi, şi satele lor.

Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba; twelve cities with their villages;

25 G abaon, Rama, Beerot,

Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,

26 M iţpe, Chefira, Moţa

Mizpah, Chephirah, Mozah,

27 R echem, Iirpeel, Tareala,

Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,

28 Ţ ela, Elef, Iebus, adică Ierusalimul, Ghibeat şi Chiriat; patrusprezece cetăţi, şi satele lor. Aceasta a fost moştenirea fiilor lui Beniamin, după familiile lor.

Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite —that is, Jerusalem—Gibeah, and Kiriath-; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin according to their families.
