1 L ibro de la genealogía de Jesucristo, hijo de David, hijo de Abraham.

The book of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.

2 A braham engendró a Isaac, Isaac a Jacob, y Jacob a Judá y a sus hermanos.

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

3 J udá engendró de Tamar a Fares y a Zara, Fares a Esrom, y Esrom a Aram.

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Aram,

4 A ram engendró a Aminadab, Aminadab a Naasón, y Naasón a Salmón.

Aram the father of Aminadab, Aminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 S almón engendró de Rahab a Booz, Booz engendró de Rut a Obed, y Obed a Isay.

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,

6 I say engendró al rey David, y el rey David engendró a Salomón de la que fue mujer de Urías.

Jesse the father of King David, King David the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah,

7 S alomón engendró a Roboam, Roboam a Abiá, y Abiá a Asá.

Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,

8 A sá engendró a Josafat, Josafat a Joram, y Joram a Uzías.

Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah,

9 U zías engendró a Joátam, Joátam a Acaz, y Acaz a Ezequías.

Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,

10 E zequías engendró a Manasés, Manasés a Amón, y Amón a Josías.

Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,

11 J osías engendró a Jeconías y a sus hermanos, en el tiempo de la deportación a Babilonia.

And Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers about the time of the removal (deportation) to Babylon.

12 D espués de la deportación a Babilonia, Jeconías engendró a Salatiel, y Salatiel a Zorobabel.

After the exile to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

13 Z orobabel engendró a Abiud, Abiud a Eliaquim, y Eliaquim a Azor.

Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,

14 A zor engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc a Aquim, y Aquim a Eliud.

Azor the father of Sadoc, Sadoc the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud,

15 E liud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar a Matán, Matán a Jacob;

Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 y Jacob engendró a José, marido de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado el Cristo.

Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, Who is called the Christ. (the Messiah, the Anointed)

17 D e manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce; desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce; y desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones. Nacimiento de Jesucristo

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen, from David to the Babylonian exile (deportation) fourteen generations, from the Babylonian exile to the Christ fourteen generations.

18 E l nacimiento de Jesucristo fue así: Estando su madre María desposada con José, antes de que viviesen juntos se halló que estaba encinta por obra del Espíritu Santo.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place under these circumstances: When His mother Mary had been promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant of the Holy Spirit.

19 J osé su marido, como era justo, y no quería denunciarla, resolvió dejarla secretamente.

And her husband Joseph, being a just and upright man and not willing to expose her publicly and to shame and disgrace her, decided to repudiate and dismiss (divorce) her quietly and secretly.

20 Y pensando él en esto, he aquí que un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María por mujer, porque lo engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo.

But as he was thinking this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of (from, out of) the Holy Spirit.

21 Y dará a luz un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados.

She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins '> failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].

22 T odo esto aconteció para que se cumpliese lo dicho por el Señor por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:

All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet,

23 H e aquí que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, Y llamarán su nombre Emanuel, que traducido es: Dios con nosotros.

Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel—which, when translated, means, God with us.

24 Y despertando José del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y recibió en su hogar a María como su esposa.

Then Joseph, being aroused from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him: he took his wife.

25 P ero no la conoció hasta que dio a luz a su hijo primogénito y le puso por nombre Jesús.

But he had no union with her as her husband until she had borne her firstborn Son; and he called His name Jesus.
