1 A conteció en los días de Acaz hijo de Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá, que Rezín rey de Siria y Peka hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron contra Jerusalén para combatirla; pero no la pudieron tomar.

In the days of Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they could not conquer it.

2 Y vino la noticia a la casa de David, diciendo: Siria se ha confederado con Efraín. Y se le estremeció el corazón, y el corazón de su pueblo, como se estremecen los árboles del monte a causa del viento.

And the house of David was told, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And the heart and the hearts of his people trembled and shook, as the trees of the forest tremble and shake with the wind.

3 E ntonces dijo Jehová a Isaías: Sal ahora al encuentro de Acaz, tú, y Sear-jasub tu hijo, al extremo del acueducto del estanque de arriba, en el camino del campo del Batanero,

Then said the Lord to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Judah’s King Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the aqueduct or canal of the Upper Pool on the highway to the Fuller’s Field;

4 y dile: ¡Alerta, pero ten calma!; no temas, ni desmaye tu corazón a causa de estos dos cabos de tizón que humean, por el ardor de la ira de Rezín y de Siria, y del hijo de Remalías.

And say to him, Take heed and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted because of these two stumps of smoking firebrands—at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and of the son of Remaliah.

5 H a maquinado tu ruina el sirio, con Efraín y con el hijo de Remalías, diciendo:

Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have purposed evil against you, saying,

6 S ubamos contra Judá y hagámosla pedazos, y repartámosla entre nosotros, y pongamos en medio de ella por rey al hijo de Tabeel.

Let us go up against Judah and harass and terrify it; and let us cleave it asunder, and set a king in the midst of it, namely the son of Tabeel,

7 C on todo, Jehová el Señor dice así: No se mantendrá, ni será así.

Thus says the Lord God: It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

8 P orque la cabeza de Siria es Damasco, y la cabeza de Damasco, Rezín; y la cabeza de Efraín es Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria el hijo de Remalías.

For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces so that it will no longer be a people.

9 Y dentro de sesenta y cinco años Efraín será quebrantado hasta dejar de ser pueblo. Si vosotros no creéis, de cierto no permaneceréis firmes.

And the head (the capital) of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe and trust and rely, surely you will not be established nor will you remain.

10 H abló de nuevo Jehová a Acaz, diciendo:

Moreover, the Lord spoke again to King Ahaz, saying,

11 P ide para ti señal de Jehová tu Dios, demandándola ya sea de abajo en lo profundo, o de arriba en lo alto.

Ask for yourself a sign (a token or proof) of the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth below or in the height above.

12 Y respondió Acaz: No la pediré, y no tentaré a Jehová.

But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

13 D ijo entonces Isaías: Oíd ahora, casa de David. ¿Os es poco el ser molestos a los hombres, para que también lo seáis a mi Dios?

And said, Hear then, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary and try the patience of men, but will you weary and try the patience of my God also?

14 P or tanto, el Señor mismo os dará una señal: He aquí que la virgen concebirá, y dará a luz un hijo, y llamará su nombre Emanuel.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15 C omerá mantequilla y miel, cuando sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno.

Butter and curds and wild honey shall he eat when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good.

16 P orque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno, la tierra de los dos reyes que tú temes será abandonada.

For before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor and of whom you are in sickening dread shall be forsaken.

17 J ehová hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre, días cuales nunca vinieron desde el día que Efraín se apartó de Judá, esto es, hará venir al rey de Asiria.

The Lord shall bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—even the king of Assyria.

18 Y acontecerá aquel día, que silbará Jehová a la mosca que está en los confines de los ríos de Egipto, y a la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria;

And in that day the Lord shall whistle for the fly that is in the whole extent of the canal country of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

19 y vendrán y acamparán todas en los valles desiertos, y en las cavernas de las piedras, y en todos los zarzales, y en todos los abrevaderos.

And these shall come and shall rest all of them in the desolate and rugged valleys and deep ravines and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes and on all the pastures.

20 E n aquel día, el Señor rapará con navaja alquilada de los que habitan al otro lado del río, esto es, con el rey de Asiria, la cabeza y el pelo de los pies, y aun la barba también afeitará.

In the same day, the Lord will shave with the razor that is hired from the parts beyond the River —even with the king of Assyria— the head and the hair of the legs, and it shall also consume the beard.

21 A contecerá en aquel tiempo, que criará un hombre una vaca y dos ovejas;

And in that day, a man will keep alive only a young milk cow and two sheep.

22 y a causa de la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá mantequilla; porque mantequilla y miel comerá todo el que quede en medio de la tierra.

And because of the abundance of milk that they will give, he will eat butter and curds, for butter and curds and honey shall everyone eat who is left in the land.

23 A contecerá también en aquel tiempo, que el lugar donde había mil vides que valían mil siclos de plata, será para espinos y zarzas.

And in that day, in every place where there used to be a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be briers and thorns.

24 C on saetas y arco irán allá, porque toda la tierra será espinos y zarzas.

With arrows and with bows shall a man come there, because all the land will be briers and thorns.

25 Y en ninguno de los montes que se desbrozaban con la azada se podrá entrar, por el temor de los espinos y de los cargos, sino que serán para pasto de bueyes y para ser hollados por los ganados.

And as for all the hills that were formerly cultivated with mattock and hoe, you will not go there for fear of briers and thorns; but they will become a place where oxen are let loose to pasture and where sheep tread.
