1 E n el año tercero del reinado del rey Belsasar me apareció una visión a mí, Daniel, después de aquella que me había aparecido antes.

In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that appeared to me at the first.

2 M iré durante la visión y me vi yo en Susa, que es la plaza fuerte en la provincia de Elam; vi, pues, en visión, que me hallaba junto al río Ulay.

And I saw in the vision and it seemed that I was at Shushan the palace or fortress, which is in the province of Elam, and I saw in the vision and I was by the river of Ulai.

3 A lcé los ojos y miré, y vi un carnero que estaba delante del río; tenía dos cuernos; y aunque ambos cuernos eran altos, uno era más alto que el otro, aunque el más alto había comenzado a crecer después del otro.

And I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns; and the two horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.

4 V i que el carnero acometía con los cuernos contra el poniente, el norte y el sur, y que ninguna bestia podía resistirle, ni había quien escapase de su poder; y hacía conforme a su voluntad, y se engrandecía.

I looked and saw the ram pushing and charging westward and northward and southward; no beast could stand before him, neither could anyone rescue from his power, but he did according to his will and pleasure and magnified himself.

5 M ientras yo consideraba esto, he aquí que un macho cabrío venía del lado del poniente sobre la superficie de toda la tierra, pero sin tocar el suelo; y aquel macho cabrío tenía un cuerno bien visible entre sus ojos.

As I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth without touching the ground, and the goat had a conspicuous and remarkable horn between his eyes.

6 Y vino hasta el carnero de dos cuernos, que yo había visto de pie delante del río, y corrió contra él con la furia de su fuerza.

And he came to the ram that had the two horns which I had seen standing on the bank of the river and ran at him in the heat of his power.

7 Y lo vi que alcanzaba al carnero, y se levantó contra él y le acometió, quebrándole sus dos cuernos, y el carnero no tenía fuerzas para resistirle; lo derribó, por tanto, en tierra, y lo pisoteó, y no hubo quien librase al carnero de su poder.

I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with anger against him and he struck the ram and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but the goat threw him to the ground and trampled on him. And there was no one who could rescue the ram from his power.

8 Y el macho cabrío se engrandeció sobremanera; pero estando en su mayor fuerza, aquel gran cuerno fue quebrado, y en su lugar le salieron otros cuatro cuernos bien visibles hacia los cuatro vientos del cielo.

And the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly, and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of there came up four notable horns toward the four winds of the heavens.

9 Y de uno de ellos salió un cuerno pequeño, que creció mucho hacia el sur y el oriente, y hacia la tierra gloriosa.

Out of littleness and small beginnings one of them came forth, a horn whose grew exceedingly great toward the south and toward the east and toward the ornament.

10 Y se engrandeció hasta el ejército del cielo; y parte del ejército y de las estrellas echó por tierra, y las pisoteó.

And grew great, even against the host of heaven, and some of the host and of the stars it cast down to the ground and trampled on them,

11 A un contra el príncipe de los ejércitos se irguió y por él le fue quitado el continuo sacrificio, y el lugar de su santuario fue echado por tierra.

Yes, magnified itself, even against the Prince of the host; and from Him the continual was taken away and the place of sanctuary was cast down and profaned.

12 Y a causa de la iniquidad le fue entregado el ejército junto con el continuo sacrificio; y echó por tierra la verdad, e hizo cuanto quiso, y le acompañó el éxito.

And the host was given together with the continual burnt offering because of the transgression. And righteousness and truth were cast down to the ground, and it accomplished this and prospered.

13 E ntonces oí a un santo que hablaba; y otro de los santos preguntó a aquel que hablaba: ¿Hasta cuándo durará la visión del continuo sacrificio abolido, y la iniquidad asoladora puesta allí, y del santuario y el ejército pisoteados?

Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one that spoke, For how long is the vision concerning the continual offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?

14 Y él dijo: Hasta dos mil trescientas tardes y mañanas; luego el santuario será purificado. El ángel Gabriel explica la visión

And he said to him and to me, For 2, 300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed and restored.

15 Y aconteció que mientras yo Daniel contemplaba la visión y procuraba comprenderla, he aquí que se puso delante de mí uno con apariencia de hombre.

When I, even I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; then behold, there stood before me one with the appearance of a man.

16 Y oí una voz de hombre entre las riberas del Ulay, que gritó y dijo: Gabriel, explícale a éste la visión.

And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai which called and said, Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.

17 V ino luego cerca de donde yo estaba; al acercarse, me sobrecogí y me postré sobre mi rostro. Pero él me dijo: Presta atención, hijo de hombre, porque la visión es para el tiempo del fin.

So he came near where I stood, and when he came, I was frightened and fell on my face. But he said to me, Understand, O son of man, for the vision belongs to the time of the end.

18 M ientras él hablaba conmigo, perdí el conocimiento y caí en tierra sobre mi rostro. Él me tocó, y me hizo estar en pie.

Now as he was speaking with me, I fell stunned and in deep unconsciousness with my face to the ground; but he touched me and set me upright.

19 Y dijo: He aquí, voy a enseñarte lo que ha de venir al fin de la ira; porque el fin está fijado.

And he said, Behold, I will make you know what will be in the latter time of the indignation, for it has to do with the time of the end.

20 E n cuanto al carnero que viste, que tenía dos cuernos, éstos son los reyes de Media y de Persia.

The ram you saw having two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia.

21 E l macho cabrío es el rey de Grecia, y el cuerno grande que tenía entre sus ojos es el primer rey.

And the shaggy and rough he-goat is the king of Greece, and the great horn between his eyes is the first king.

22 Y en cuanto al cuerno que fue quebrado, y sucedieron cuatro en su lugar, significa que se levantarán de esa nación cuatro reinos, aunque no con la fuerza de él.

And as for the horn which was shattered, in whose place four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise out of his nation but not having his power.

23 Y al fin del reinado de éstos, cuando las transgresiones lleguen a su colmo, se levantará un rey altivo de rostro y experto en intrigas.

And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached the fullness, a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark trickery and craftiness shall stand up.

24 Y su poder se fortalecerá, mas no con fuerza propia; y causará grandes ruinas, y alcanzará éxitos en sus empresas, y destruirá a los fuertes y al pueblo de los santos.

And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall corrupt and destroy astonishingly and shall prosper and do his own pleasure, and he shall corrupt and destroy the mighty men and the holy people (the people of the saints).

25 C on su sagacidad hará prosperar la intriga en su mano; y se ensoberbecerá en su corazón, y destruirá a muchos por sorpresa, y se levantará contra el Príncipe de los príncipes, pero será quebrantado, aunque no por mano humana.

And through his policy he shall cause trickery to prosper in his hand; he shall magnify himself in his heart and mind, and in their security he will corrupt and destroy many. He shall also stand up against the Prince of princes, but he shall be broken and that by no hand.

26 L a visión de las tardes y mañanas que se ha referido es verdadera; y tú guarda la visión, porque es para días lejanos.

The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been told you is true. But seal up the vision, for it has to do with and belongs to the distant future.

27 Y yo Daniel quedé quebrantado, y estuve enfermo durante algunos días, y cuando convalecí, volví a ocuparme en los asuntos del rey; pero estaba espantado a causa de la visión, y no la entendía.

And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick days. Afterward I rose up and did the king’s business; and I wondered at the vision, but there was no one who understood it or could make it understood.
