1 A sí que, hermanos, os exhorto por las misericordias de Dios, a que presentéis vuestros cuerpos como sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios, que es vuestro servicio de adoración espiritual.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2 N o os adaptéis a las formas de este mundo, sino transformaos por medio de la renovación de vuestra mente, para que comprobéis cuál es la voluntad de Dios: lo bueno, lo que le agrada, y lo perfecto.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age),, but be transformed (changed) by the renewal of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect.

3 D igo, pues, por la gracia que me ha sido dada, a cada cual que está entre vosotros, que no tenga más alto concepto de sí que el que debe tener, sino que piense de sí con cordura, conforme a la medida de fe que Dios repartió a cada uno.

For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought, but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.

4 P orque así como en un solo cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, pero no todos los miembros tienen la misma función,

For as in one physical body we have many parts (organs, members) and all of these parts do not have the same function or use,

5 a sí también nosotros, siendo muchos, somos un solo cuerpo en Cristo, mas siendo cada uno por su parte miembros los unos de los otros.

So we, numerous as we are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) and individually we are parts one of another.

6 Y teniendo diferentes dones, según la gracia que nos es dada, si es el de profecía, úsese conforme a la proporción de la fe;

Having gifts (faculties, talents, qualities) that differ according to the grace given us, let us use them: prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;

7 o si de servicio, en servir; o el que enseña, en la enseñanza;

practical service, let him give himself to serving; he who teaches, to his teaching;

8 e l que exhorta, en la exhortación; el que reparte, con sencillez; el que preside, con solicitud; el que hace misericordia, con alegría.

He who exhorts (encourages), to his exhortation; he who contributes, let him do it in simplicity and liberality; he who gives aid and superintends, with zeal and singleness of mind; he who does acts of mercy, with genuine cheerfulness and joyful eagerness.

9 E l amor sea sin fingimiento. Aborreced lo malo, adheríos a lo bueno.

love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil, but hold fast to that which is good.

10 A maos entrañablemente los unos a los otros con amor fraternal; en cuanto a honor, dando la preferencia los unos a los otros.

Love one another with brotherly affection, giving precedence and showing honor to one another.

11 E n lo que requiere diligencia, no perezosos; fervientes en espíritu, sirviendo al Señor;

Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

12 g ozosos en la esperanza; sufridos en la tribulación; constantes en la oración;

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.

13 c ompartiendo las necesidades de los santos; practicando la hospitalidad.

Contribute to the needs of God’s people; pursue the practice of hospitality.

14 B endecid a los que os persiguen; bendecid, y no maldigáis.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

15 G ozaos con los que se gozan; llorad con los que lloran.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

16 T ened unanimidad de sentimientos entre vosotros; no con altivez de sentimientos, sino condescendiendo con los humildes. No seáis sabios en vuestra propia opinión.

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits.

17 N o paguéis a nadie mal por mal; procurad lo bueno delante de todos los hombres.

Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is honest and proper and noble in the sight of everyone.

18 S i es posible, en cuanto dependa de vosotros, estad en paz con todos los hombres.

If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

19 N o os venguéis vosotros mismos, amados, sino dejad lugar a la ira de Dios; porque escrito está: Mía es la venganza, yo pagaré, dice el Señor.

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord.

20 A sí que, si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; si tiene sed, dale de beber; pues haciendo esto, amontonarás sobre su cabeza carbones encendidos.

But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.

21 N o seas vencido por el mal, sino vence con el bien el mal.

Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome (master) evil with good.
