1 P rofecía sobre el desierto del mar. Como torbellino del Négueb, así viene del desierto, de una tierra de terror.

The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning the Desert of the Sea: As whirlwinds in the South (the Negeb) sweep through, so it comes from the desert, from a terrible land.

2 U na visión dura me ha sido mostrada. El traidor traiciona, y el saqueador saquea. Sube, oh Elam; sitia, oh Media. Todo su suspiro hice cesar.

A hard and grievous vision is declared to me: the treacherous dealer deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam! Besiege, O Media! All the sighing I will cause to cease.

3 P or eso, mis lomos se han llenado de dolor; angustias se apoderaron de mí, como angustias de mujer en parto. Estoy tan asustado que no puedo oír, y tan espantado que no puedo ver.

Therefore are my loins filled with anguish, pangs have seized me like the pangs of a woman in childbirth; I am bent and pained so that I cannot hear, I am dismayed so that I cannot see.

4 D esvaría mi corazón, el horror me ha intimidado; el crepúsculo de mis deseos se me volvió en espanto.

My mind reels and wanders, horror terrifies me. The twilight I looked forward to with pleasure has been turned into fear and trembling for me.

5 P onen la mesa, extienden los manteles; comen, beben. ¡Levantaos, oh príncipes, engrasad el escudo!

They prepare the table, they spread the rugs, set the watchers, they eat, they drink. Arise, you princes, and oil your shields!

6 P orque el Señor me dijo así: Ve, pon un centinela que haga saber lo que vea.

For thus has the Lord said to me: Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he sees.

7 Y cuando vea hombres montados, jinetes de dos en dos, montados sobre asnos y montados sobre camellos, preste mucha atención.

And when he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of donkeys, and a troop of camels, he shall listen diligently, very diligently.

8 Y él gritó como un león: Señor, sobre la atalaya estoy siempre día tras día, y paso las noches enteras de guardia;

And cried like a lion, O Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my station every night.

9 y he aquí que vienen hombres montados, jinetes de dos en dos. Después habló y dijo: Cayó, cayó Babilonia; y todos los ídolos de sus dioses yacen rotos en tierra.

And see! Here comes a troop of men and chariots, horsemen in pairs! And he tells: Babylon has fallen, has fallen! And all the graven images of her gods lie shattered on the ground!

10 O h pueblo mío, trillado y aventado, os he dicho lo que oí de Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel. Profecía sobre Dumá

O you my threshed and winnowed ones, that which I have heard from the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, I have announced to you!

11 P rofecía sobre Dumá. Me dan voces desde Seír: Guarda, ¿qué hay de la noche? Guarda, ¿qué hay de la noche?

The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning Dumah (Edom): One calls to me from Seir (Edom), Watchman, what of the night? Guardian, what of the night?

12 E l guarda respondió: La mañana viene, y después la noche; si queréis preguntar, preguntad; volveos, venid. Profecía sobre Arabia

The watchman said, The morning comes, but also the night. if you will inquire, inquire; return, come again.

13 P rofecía sobre Arabia. En el bosque pasaréis la noche en Arabia, oh caminantes de Dedán.

The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning Arabia: In the forests and thickets of Arabia you shall lodge, O you caravans of Dedanites.

14 S alid al encuentro del sediento; llevadle agua, moradores de tierra de Temá, socorred con pan al fugitivo.

To the thirsty bring water, O inhabitants of the land of Tema; meet the fugitive with bread for him.

15 P orque ante la espada huye, ante la espada desnuda, ante el arco entesado, ante el peso de la guerra.

For they have fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

16 P orque así me ha dicho Jehová: De aquí a un año, conforme a los años de un jornalero, toda la gloria de Cedar será deshecha;

For the Lord has said this to me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar will fail.

17 y los sobrevivientes del número de los flecheros, los fuertes hijos de Cedar, serán disminuidos; porque Jehová Dios de Israel lo ha dicho.

And the remainder of the number of archers and their bows, the mighty men of the sons of Kedar, will be diminished and few; for the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken it.
