1 E scuchadme, islas costeras, y esfuércense los pueblos; acérquense, y entonces hablen; reunámonos a juicio.

Listen in silence before Me, O islands and regions bordering on the sea! And let the people gather and renew their strength! Let them come near, then let them speak; let us come near together for judgment.

2 ¿ Quién suscitó del oriente a uno, a cuyos pasos asiste la victoria? Entregó delante de él naciones, y le hizo enseñorearse de reyes; los entregó a su espada como polvo, como hojarasca que su arco arrebata.

Who has roused up one from the east, whom He calls in righteousness to His service and whom victory meets at every step? He subdues nations before him and makes him ruler over kings. He turns them to dust with the sword, and to driven straw and chaff with his bow.

3 L os siguió, pasó a salvo por un camino por donde sus pies pasan como en volandas.

He pursues them and passes safely and unhindered, even by a way his feet had not trod and so swiftly that his feet do not touch the ground.

4 ¿ Quién hizo y realizó esto? El que llama las generaciones desde el principio. Yo Jehová, el primero, y yo el mismo con los postreros.

Who has prepared and done this, calling forth and guiding the destinies of the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord—the first and with the last —I am He.

5 L as islas vieron, y tuvieron temor; los confines de la tierra se espantaron; se congregaron, y vinieron.

The islands and coastlands have seen and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They draw near and come;

6 C ada cual ayudó a su vecino, y a su hermano dijo: ¡Ten ánimo!

They help every one his neighbor and say to his brother, Be of good courage!

7 E l carpintero animó al orfebre, y el que alisaba con martillo al que batía en el yunque, diciendo: Buena está la soldadura; y lo sujetó con clavos, para que no se moviese.

So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who smites the anvil, saying of the soldering, That is good! And he fastens it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

8 P ero tú, Israel, siervo mío; tú, Jacob, a quien yo escogí, descendencia de Abraham mi amigo;

But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham My friend,

9 t ú, a quien tomé de los confines de la tierra, y de tierras lejanas te llamé, y te dije: Mi siervo eres tú; te escogí, y no te he desechado;

You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth and have called from the corners of it, and said to you, You are My servant—I have chosen you and not cast you off.

10 n o temas, porque yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, porque yo soy tu Dios; yo te doy vigor; sí, yo te ayudaré, y siempre te sostendré con la diestra de mi justicia.

Fear not, for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My right hand of rightness and justice.

11 H e aquí que todos los que se enojan contra ti serán avergonzados y confundidos; serán como nada y perecerán los que contienden contigo.

Behold, all they who are enraged and inflamed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; they who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish.

12 B uscarás a los que tienen contienda contigo, y no los hallarás; serán como nada, y como cosa que no existe, aquellos que te hacen la guerra.

You shall seek those who contend with you but shall not find them; they who war against you shall be as nothing, as nothing at all.

13 P orque yo Jehová tu Dios, soy quien te sostiene de tu mano derecha, y te dice: No temas, yo te ayudo.

For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!

14 N o temas, gusano de Jacob, oh vosotros los pocos de Israel; yo soy tu socorro, dice Jehová; el Santo de Israel es tu Redentor.

Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

15 H e aquí que yo te he puesto por trillo, trillo nuevo, de dientes afilados; trillarás los montes y los molerás, y reducirás a tamo los collados.

Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff.

16 L os aventarás, y se los llevará el viento, y los esparcirá el torbellino; pero tú te regocijarás en Jehová, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.

You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 L os pobres y menesterosos buscan las aguas, y no las hay; seca está de sed su lengua; yo Jehová los oiré, yo el Dios de Israel no los desampararé.

The poor and needy are seeking water when there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 E n las alturas abriré ríos, y fuentes en medio de los valles; abriré en el desierto estanques de aguas, y manantiales de aguas en la tierra seca.

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 D aré en el desierto cedros, acacias, arrayanes y olivos silvestres; pondré en la soledad cipreses, pinos y bojes juntamente,

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the wild olive; I will set the cypress in the desert, the plane and the pine together,

20 p ara que vean y conozcan, y adviertan y entiendan todos, que la mano de Jehová ha hecho esto, y que el Santo de Israel lo creó. Dios reta a los falsos dioses

That men may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

21 A legad por vuestra causa, dice Jehová; presentad vuestras pruebas, dice el Rey de Jacob.

Produce your cause, says the Lord. Bring forth your strong proofs, says the King of Jacob.

22 T ráiganlas, anúnciennos lo que ha de venir; dígannos lo que ha pasado desde el principio, y lo consideraremos; sepamos también sus postrimerías, y hacednos entender lo que ha de suceder.

Let them bring them forth and tell us what is to happen. Let them tell us the former things, what they are, that we may consider them and know the outcome of them; or declare to us the things to come.

23 D eclaradnos lo que ha de ocurrir después, para que sepamos que vosotros sois dioses; o a lo menos haced algún bien, o algún mal, para que nos miremos atónitos y lo contemplemos juntamente.

Tell us the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; yes, do good or do evil, that we may stare in astonishment and be dismayed as we behold together!

24 H e aquí que vosotros sois nada, y vuestras obras sin ningún valor; abominación es el que os escogió.

Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothing! The worshiper who chooses you is an abomination.

25 D el norte levanté a uno, y vendrá; del nacimiento del sol invocará mi nombre; y pisoteará príncipes como lodo, y como pisa el barro el alfarero.

I have raised up and impelled to action one from the north, and he comes; from the rising of the sun he calls upon My name. And he shall tread upon rulers and deputies as upon mortar and as the potter treads clay.

26 ¿ Quién lo anunció desde el principio, para que lo sepamos; o de tiempo atrás, y diremos: Es justo? Cierto, no hay quien lo declare; sí, no hay quien lo anuncie; ciertamente no hay quien oiga vuestras palabras.

has declared this from the beginning, that we could know? And beforetime, that we could say that he is right? Yes, there is none who declares it, yes, there is none who proclaims it; yes, there is none who hears you speak!

27 Y o enviaré al primero que diga a Sión: ¡Miradlos, miradlos! Y a Jerusalén daré un mensajero de alegres nuevas.

I first gave to Zion the announcement, Behold, behold them! And to Jerusalem I gave a herald bringing the good news.

28 Y miré, pero no había ninguno; y, entre éstos, ningún consejero hubo a quien yo preguntara y él me respondiera.

For I look and there is no man among them, and among these there is no counselor who, when I ask of him, can answer a word.

29 ¡ He aquí todos! Las obras de ellos son vaciedad y nada; viento y confusión son sus imágenes fundidas.

Behold, these are all emptiness (falseness and futility)! Their works are worthless; their molten images are empty wind (confusion and waste).
