1 L a palabra que vino de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

2 O íd las palabras de este pacto, y hablad a todo varón de Judá, y a todo morador de Jerusalén.

Hear the words of this covenant or solemn pledge, and speak to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

3 Y diles: Así dice Jehová el Dios de Israel: Maldito el varón que no escuche las palabras de este pacto,

Say to them, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Cursed is the man who does not heed the words of this covenant or solemn pledge

4 e l cual mandé a vuestros padres el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciéndoles: Escuchad mi voz, y cumplid mis palabras, conforme a todo lo que os mando; y me seréis por pueblo, y yo seré a vosotros por Dios;

Which I commanded your fathers at the time that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Listen to My voice and do according to all that I command you. So will you be My people, and I will be your God,

5 p ara que confirme el juramento que hice a vuestros padres, que les daría una tierra que fluye leche y miel, como es en el día de hoy. Y respondí y dije: Amén, oh Jehová.

That I may perform the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then I answered, Amen (so be it), O Lord.

6 Y Jehová me dijo: Proclama todas estas palabras en ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo: Escuchad las palabras de este pacto, y ponedlas por obra.

And the Lord said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: Hear the words of this covenant or solemn pledge and do them.

7 P orque solemnemente advertí a vuestros padres el día que les hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, amonestándoles desde el principio y sin cesar hasta el día de hoy, diciendo: Prestad atención a mi voz.

For I earnestly protested to and warned your fathers at the time that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, protesting to and warning them persistently, saying, Obey My voice.

8 P ero no atendieron, ni inclinaron su oído, anduvo cada uno en la dureza de su malvado corazón; por tanto, he traído sobre ellos todas las palabras de este pacto, el cual mandé que cumpliesen, y no lo cumplieron.

Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of his own evil heart. Therefore I brought upon them all the words of this covenant or solemn pledge, which I had commanded, but they did not do.

9 Y me dijo Jehová: Se ha hallado una conspiración entre los varones de Judá, y entre los moradores de Jerusalén.

And the Lord said to me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 S e han vuelto a las maldades de sus antepasados, los cuales rehusaron escuchar mis palabras, y se fueron tras dioses ajenos para servirles; la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han quebrantado mi pacto, el cual había yo concertado con sus padres.

They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear My words; they have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant or solemn pledge which I made with their fathers.

11 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo traigo sobre ellos un mal del que no podrán salir; y clamarán a mí, y no los escucharé.

Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I am bringing evil and calamity upon them which they will not be able to escape; though they cry to Me, I will not listen to them.

12 E irán las ciudades de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén, y clamarán a los dioses a quienes queman ellos incienso, los cuales no los podrán salvar en el tiempo de su desgracia.

Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they offer incense, but they cannot save them at all in the time of their evil trouble.

13 P orque según el número de tus ciudades fueron tus dioses, oh Judá; y según el número de las calles de Jerusalén, pusiste los altares de ignominia, altares para ofrecer incienso a Baal.

For the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah; and the number of the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense to Baal.

14 T ú, pues, no ores por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración; porque yo no los oiré en el día que en su aflicción clamen a mí.

Therefore do not pray for this people or lift up a cry or prayer for them, for I will not listen when they cry out to Me in the time of their evil trouble.

15 ¿ Qué tiene mi amado que hacer en mi casa, habiendo cometido tantas abominaciones? ¿Crees que las carnes santificadas de las víctimas pueden evitarte el castigo? Puesto que cuando haces la maldad, entonces te regocijas.

What right has My beloved in My house when she has wrought lewdness and done treacherously many times? Can vows and the holy flesh remove from you your wickedness and avert your calamity? Can you by these rejoice exultantly?

16 O livo frondoso, lozano, de hermoso fruto, llamó Jehová tu nombre. Al sonido de un gran estrépito hizo encender fuego sobre él, y se quebraron sus ramas.

The Lord called a green olive tree, fair and of good fruit; but with the roar of a great tempest He will set fire to it, and its branches will be consumed.

17 P orque Jehová de los ejércitos que te plantó ha pronunciado el mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad que la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han hecho, provocándome a ira con incensar a Baal. Complot contra Jeremías

For the Lord of hosts, Who planted you, has pronounced evil and calamity against you because of the evil which the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done against themselves in provoking Me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

18 J ehová me lo hizo saber, y lo conocí; entonces me hiciste ver sus obras.

And the Lord gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it; then You showed me their doings.

19 Y yo era como cordero manso que llevan a degollar, pues no entendía que tramaban maquinaciones contra mí, diciendo: Destruyamos el árbol con su fruto, y cortémoslo de la tierra de los vivientes, para que no haya más memoria de su nombre.

But I was like a tame lamb that is brought to the slaughter; I did not know that they had devised inventions and schemes against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

20 P ero, oh Jehová de los ejércitos, que juzgas con justicia, que escudriñas los riñones y el corazón, vea yo tu venganza de ellos; porque ante ti he expuesto mi causa.

But, O Lord of hosts, Who judges rightly and justly, Who tests the heart and the mind, let me see Your vengeance on them, for to You I have revealed and committed my cause.

21 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová acerca de los varones de Anatot que buscan tu vida, diciendo: No profetices en nombre de Jehová, para que no mueras a nuestras manos;

Therefore thus says the Lord about the men of Anathoth, who seek your life and say, Prophesy not in the name of the Lord, that you die not by our hands—

22 a sí, pues, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los castigaré; los jóvenes morirán a espada, sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre,

Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and their daughters will die by famine;

23 y no quedará remanente de ellos, pues yo traeré el mal sobre los varones de Anatot, el año de su castigo.

And there will be no remnant left, for I will bring evil and calamity upon the men of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.
