1 ¿ No clama la sabiduría, Y da su voz la inteligencia?

Does not skillful and godly Wisdom cry out, and understanding raise her voice ?

2 E n las alturas junto al camino, A las encrucijadas de las veredas se para;

On the top of the heights beside the way, where the paths meet, stands Wisdom;

3 J unto a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, En el umbral de las puertas da voces:

At the gates at the entrance of the town, at the coming in at the doors, she cries out:

4 O h hombres, a vosotros clamo; Dirijo mi voz a los hijos de los hombres.

To you, O men, I call, and my voice is directed to the sons of men.

5 A prended, oh simples, discreción; Y vosotros, necios, entrad en cordura.

O you simple and thoughtless ones, understand prudence; you fools, be of an understanding heart.

6 E scuchad, porque hablaré cosas excelentes, Y abriré mis labios para cosas rectas.

Hear, for I will speak excellent and princely things; and the opening of my lips shall be for right things.

7 P orque mi boca hablará verdad, Y mis labios abominan la impiedad.

For my mouth shall utter truth, and wrongdoing is detestable and loathsome to my lips.

8 S inceras son todas las razones de mi boca; No hay en ellas cosa falsa ni tortuosa.

All the words of my mouth are righteous (upright and in right standing with God); there is nothing contrary to truth or crooked in them.

9 T odas ellas son rectas para el que entiende, Y razonables para los que han hallado sabiduría.

They are all plain to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.

10 R ecibid mi enseñanza, y no la plata; Y ciencia antes que el oro escogido.

Receive my instruction in preference to silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,

11 P orque mejor es la sabiduría que las piedras preciosas; Y todo cuanto se puede desear, no puede compararse con ella.

For skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 Y o, la sabiduría, habito con la cordura, Y he hallado el conocimiento de los consejos.

I, Wisdom, make prudence my dwelling, and I find out knowledge and discretion.

13 E l temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal; La soberbia y la arrogancia, el mal camino, Y la boca perversa, es lo que yo detesto.

The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.

14 C onmigo está el consejo y el buen acierto; Yo soy la inteligencia; mío es el poder.

I have counsel and sound knowledge, I have understanding, I have might and power.

15 P or mí reinan los reyes, Y los príncipes decretan lo que es justo.

By me kings reign and rulers decree justice.

16 P or mí gobiernan los príncipes, Y los magnates juzgan toda la tierra.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges and governors of the earth.

17 Y o amo a los que me aman, Y me hallan los que madrugan para buscarme.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me.

18 L as riquezas y la honra están conmigo; Riquezas duraderas, y justicia.

Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness (uprightness in every area and relation, and right standing with God).

19 M ejor es mi fruto que el oro, que el oro refinado; Y mi rédito mejor que la plata acrisolada.

My fruit is better than gold, yes, than refined gold, and my increase than choice silver.

20 P or veredas de justicia camino, Por en medio de sendas de rectitud,

I walk in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation), in the midst of the paths of justice,

21 P ara hacer que los que me aman obtengan su heredad, Y que yo llene sus arcas.

That I may cause those who love me to inherit riches and that I may fill their treasuries.

22 J ehová me poseía en el principio, Ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.

The Lord formed and brought me forth at the beginning of His way, before His acts of old.

23 E ternamente tuve el principado, desde el principio, Antes del comienzo de la tierra.

I was inaugurated and ordained from everlasting, from the beginning, before ever the earth existed.

24 A ntes de los abismos fui engendrada; Antes que existiesen las fuentes de las muchas aguas.

When there were no deeps, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains laden with water.

25 A ntes que los montes fuesen formados, Antes de los collados, ya había sido yo engendrada;

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth,

26 N o había aún hecho la tierra, ni los campos, Ni los primeros elementos del mundo.

While as yet He had not made the land or the fields or the first of the dust of the earth.

27 C uando formaba los cielos, allí estaba yo; Cuando trazaba un círculo sobre la faz del abismo;

When He prepared the heavens, I was there; when He drew a circle upon the face of the deep and stretched out the firmament over it,

28 C uando condensaba las nubes arriba, Cuando afianzaba las fuentes del abismo;

When He made firm the skies above, when He established the fountains of the deep,

29 C uando ponía al mar su estatuto, Para que las aguas no traspasasen su mandato; Cuando establecía los fundamentos de la tierra,

When He gave to the sea its limit and His decree that the waters should not transgress His command, when He appointed the foundations of the earth—

30 C on él estaba yo ordenándolo todo, Y era su delicia de día en día, Teniendo solaz delante de él en todo tiempo.

Then I was beside Him as a master and director of the work; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing before Him always,

31 J ugueteando en la parte habitable de su tierra; Y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres.

Rejoicing in His inhabited earth and delighting in the sons of men.

32 A hora, pues, hijos, oídme; Dichosos los que guardan mis caminos.

Now therefore listen to me, O you sons; for blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who keep my ways.

33 A tended mi consejo, para que seáis sabios; No lo menospreciéis.

Hear instruction and be wise, and do not refuse or neglect it.

34 D ichoso el hombre que me escucha, Velando a mis puertas cada día, Aguardando a los postes de mis puertas.

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 P orque el que me halle, hallará la vida, Y alcanzará el favor de Jehová.

For whoever finds me finds life and draws forth and obtains favor from the Lord.

36 M as el que me pierde, se arruina a sí mismo; Todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte.

But he who misses me or sins against me wrongs and injures himself; all who hate me love and court death.
