1 C uando Jesús salió del templo, y mientras iba de camino, se acercaron sus discípulos para mostrarle los edificios del templo.

Jesus departed from the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to Him to call His attention to the buildings of the temple and point them out to Him.

2 É l respondió y les dijo: ¿Veis todo esto? De cierto os digo, que no quedará aquí piedra sobre piedra, que no sea derribada. Señales antes del fin

But He answered them, Do you see all these? Truly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.

3 Y estando él sentado en el monte de los Olivos, los discípulos se le acercaron aparte, diciendo: Dinos, ¿cuándo sucederán estas cosas, y cuál será la señal de tu venida, y del final de esta época?

While He was seated on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately and said, Tell us, when will this take place, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end (the completion, the consummation) of the age?

4 R espondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Mirad que nadie os engañe.

Jesus answered them, Be careful that no one misleads you.

5 P orque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo; y engañarán a muchos.

For many will come in (on the strength of) My name '> appropriating the name which belongs to Me], saying, I am the Christ (the Messiah), and they will lead many astray.

6 O iréis hablar de guerras y de rumores de guerras; mirad que no os alarméis, porque es necesario que todo eso acontezca; pero aún no es el fin.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 P orque se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino; y habrá hambres, epidemias, y terremotos en diferentes lugares.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place;

8 M as todo esto será el principio de dolores.

All this is but the beginning of the birth pangs '> intolerable anguish].

9 E ntonces os entregarán a tribulación, y os matarán, y seréis aborrecidos de todas las gentes por causa de mi nombre.

Then they will hand you over to suffer affliction and tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

10 M uchos tropezarán entonces, y se entregarán unos a otros, y unos a otros se aborrecerán.

And then many will be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert and will stumble and fall away and betray one another and pursue one another with hatred.

11 Y muchos falsos profetas se levantarán, y engañarán a muchos;

And many false prophets will rise up and deceive and lead many into error.

12 y debido al aumento de la iniquidad, se enfriará el amor de la mayoría.

And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,

13 M as el que persevere hasta el fin, éste será salvo.

But he who endures to the end will be saved.

14 Y será predicado este evangelio del reino en todo el mundo, para testimonio a todas las naciones; y entonces vendrá el fin.

And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.

15 P or tanto, cuando veáis en el lugar santo la abominación de la desolación, anunciada por medio del profeta Daniel (el que lea, entienda),

So when you see the appalling sacrilege, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place—let the reader take notice and ponder and consider and heed —

16 e ntonces los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes.

Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;

17 E l que esté en la azotea, no descienda para tomar nada de su casa;

Let him who is on the housetop not come down and go into the house to take anything;

18 y el que esté en el campo, no vuelva atrás para tomar su capa.

And let him who is in the field not turn back to get his overcoat.

19 M as ¡ay de las que en aquellos días estén encintas, y de las que estén criando!

And alas for the women who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days!

20 O rad para que vuestra huida no sea en invierno ni en sábado;

Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.

21 p orque habrá entonces gran tribulación, cual no la ha habido desde el principio del mundo hasta ahora, ni la habrá jamás.

For then there will be great tribulation (affliction, distress, and oppression) such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now—no, and never will be.

22 Y si aquellos días no fuesen acortados, no se salvaría nadie; mas por causa de los escogidos, aquellos días serán acortados.

And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would endure and survive, but for the sake of the elect (God’s chosen ones) those days will be shortened.

23 E ntonces, si alguno os dice: Mirad, aquí está el Cristo, o mirad, allí está, no lo creáis.

If anyone says to you then, Behold, here is the Christ (the Messiah)! or, There He is!—do not believe it.

24 P orque se levantarán falsos Cristos, y falsos profetas, y harán grandes señales y prodigios, hasta el punto de engañar, si fuera posible, aun a los escogidos.

For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones).

25 M irad que os lo he predicho.

See, I have warned you beforehand.

26 A sí que si os dicen: Mirad, está en el desierto, no salgáis; o mirad, está en las habitaciones interiores, no lo creáis.

So if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness (desert)—do not go out there; if they tell you, Behold, He is in the secret places or inner rooms—do not believe it.

27 P orque así como el relámpago sale del oriente y brilla hasta el occidente, así será también la venida del Hijo del Hombre.

For just as the lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

28 D ondequiera que esté el cadáver, allí se juntarán las águilas. La venida del Hijo del Hombre

Wherever there is a fallen body (a corpse), there the vultures (or eagles) will flock together.

29 E inmediatamente después de la tribulación de aquellos días, el sol se oscurecerá, y la luna no dará su resplandor, y las estrellas caerán del cielo, y las potencias de los cielos serán sacudidas.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30 E ntonces aparecerá la señal del Hijo del Hombre en el cielo; y entonces harán duelo todas las tribus de la tierra, y verán al Hijo del Hombre viniendo sobre las nubes del cielo, con poder y gran gloria.

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and beat their breasts and lament in anguish, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 Y enviará sus ángeles con gran voz de trompeta, y reunirán a sus escogidos, de los cuatro vientos, desde un extremo del cielo hasta el otro.

And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect (His chosen ones) from the four winds, from one end of the universe to the other.

32 D e la higuera aprended la parábola: Cuando ya su rama se ha puesto tierna, y brotan las hojas, sabéis que el verano está cerca.

From the fig tree learn this lesson: as soon as its young shoots become soft and tender and it puts out its leaves, you know of a surety that summer is near.

33 A sí también vosotros, cuando veáis todas estas cosas, conoced que él está cerca, a las puertas.

So also when you see these signs, all taken together, coming to pass, you may know of a surety that He is near, at the very doors.

34 D e cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto acontezca.

Truly I tell you, this generation ( the whole multitude of people living at the same time, in a definite, given period) will not pass away till all these things taken together take place.

35 E l cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

Sky and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

36 P ero de aquel día y de aquella hora nadie sabe, ni aun los ángeles del cielo, sino sólo mi Padre.

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

37 M as como en los días de Noé, así será la venida del Hijo del Hombre.

As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

38 P orque como en los días antes del diluvio estaban comiendo y bebiendo, casándose y dándose en matrimonio, hasta el día en que Noé entró en el arca,

For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah went into the ark,

39 y no se dieron cuenta hasta que vino el diluvio y se los llevó a todos, así será también la venida del Hijo del Hombre.

And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away—so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

40 E ntonces estarán dos en el campo; el uno será tomado, y el otro será dejado.

At that time two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.

41 D os mujeres estarán moliendo en un molino; la una será tomada, y la otra será dejada.

Two women will be grinding at the hand mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

42 V elad, pues, porque no sabéis a qué hora ha de venir vuestro Señor.

Watch therefore '> give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day '> whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming.

43 Y comprended aquello de que si el padre de familia supiese a qué hora iba a venir el ladrón, velaría y no dejaría que horadasen su casa.

But understand this: had the householder known in what '> night or a morning] watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be undermined and broken into.

44 P or tanto, también vosotros estad preparados; porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a la hora que no penséis.

You also must be ready therefore, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.

45 ¿ Quién es, pues, el siervo fiel y prudente, al cual puso su señor al frente de su servidumbre, para que les dé el alimento a su tiempo?

Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?

46 D ichoso aquel siervo, al cual, cuando su señor venga, le halle obrando así.

Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is that servant whom, when his master comes, he will find so doing.

47 D e cierto os digo que le pondrá al frente de toda su hacienda.

I solemnly declare to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

48 P ero si aquel siervo malo dice en su corazón: Mi señor tarda en venir;

But if that servant is wicked and says to himself, My master is delayed and is going to be gone a long time,

49 y comienza a golpear a sus consiervos, y a comer y a beber con los borrachos,

And begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken,

50 v endrá el señor de aquel siervo el día que éste no espera, y a la hora que no sabe,

The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour of which he is not aware,

51 y lo castigará muy duramente, y pondrá su parte con los hipócritas; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes.

And will punish him '> cut him up by scourging] and put him with the pretenders (hypocrites); there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
