1 R espondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite,

2 ¿ Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, Y las palabras de tu boca serán como viento impetuoso?

How long will you say these things ? And how long shall the words of your mouth be as a mighty wind?

3 ¿ Acaso torcerá Dios el derecho, O pervertirá el Todopoderoso la justicia?

Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

4 S i tus hijos pecaron contra él, Él los entregó a merced de su pecado.

If your children have sinned against Him, then He has delivered them into the power of their transgression.

5 S i tú de mañana buscas a Dios, E imploras al Todopoderoso;

If you will seek God diligently and make your supplication to the Almighty,

6 S i eres limpio y recto, Ciertamente luego él velará por ti, Y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

Then, if you are pure and upright, surely He will bestir Himself for you and make your righteous dwelling prosperous again.

7 Y aunque tu principio haya sido pequeño, Tu postrer estado será muy grande.

And though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

8 P orque pregunta ahora a las generaciones pasadas, Y atiende a lo que sus padres averiguaron;

For inquire, I pray you, of the former age and apply yourself to that which their fathers have searched out,

9 P ues nosotros somos de ayer, y nada sabemos, Siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como una sombra.

For we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow.

10 ¿ No te enseñarán ellos, te hablarán, Y de su corazón sacarán palabras?

Shall not teach you and tell you and utter words out of their hearts (the deepest part of their nature)?

11 ¿ Crece el papiro fuera del pantano? ¿Crece el junco fuera del agua?

Can the rush or papyrus grow up without marsh? Can the flag or reed grass grow without water?

12 A un en su verdor, y sin haber sido cortado, Con todo, se seca primero que toda hierba.

While it is yet green, in flower, and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

13 T al es el final de todos los que olvidan a Dios; Y la esperanza del impío perecerá;

So are the ways of all who forget God; and the hope of the godless shall perish.

14 P orque su esperanza será cortada como un hilo, Y su confianza es como tela de araña.

For his confidence breaks, and his trust is a spider’s web.

15 S e apoyará él en su casa, mas no permanecerá ella en pie; Asirá de ella, mas no resistirá.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not last.

16 A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, Y sus renuevos salen por encima de su huerto;

He is green before the sun, and his shoots go forth over his garden.

17 S e van entretejiendo sus raíces junto a un montón de piedras, Y enlazándose hasta un muro de piedra.

his roots are wrapped about the heap, and see their way among the rocks.

18 S i le arrancan de su lugar, Éste le negará entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

But if snatches him from his property, it will forget and deny him, I have never seen you.

19 C iertamente éste será el final de su camino gozoso. Y de la misma tierra brotarán otros.

See, this is the joy of going the way! And from the dust others will spring up.

20 H e aquí, Dios no rechaza al hombre íntegro, Ni apoya la mano de los malignos.

Behold, as surely as God will never uphold wrongdoers, He will never cast away a blameless man.

21 A ún llenará tu boca de risa, Y tus labios de júbilo.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with joyful shouting.

22 L os que te aborrecen serán vestidos de confusión; Y la morada de los impíos desaparecerá.

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tents of the wicked shall be no more.
