1 П ослухайте мовчки Мене, острови, а народи, чекайте навчання Мого! Хай підійдуть і скажуть: Приступімо всі разом на суд!

Listen in silence before Me, O islands and regions bordering on the sea! And let the people gather and renew their strength! Let them come near, then let them speak; let us come near together for judgment.

2 Х то зо сходу того пробудив, що його супроводить в ході перемога? Він народи дає перед ним та царів на топтання, їхнього меча обертає на порох, його лука в солому розвіяну.

Who has roused up one from the east, whom He calls in righteousness to His service and whom victory meets at every step? He subdues nations before him and makes him ruler over kings. He turns them to dust with the sword, and to driven straw and chaff with his bow.

3 В ін жене їх, спокійно дорогою йде, якою він не переходив ногами своїми.

He pursues them and passes safely and unhindered, even by a way his feet had not trod and so swiftly that his feet do not touch the ground.

4 Х то вчинив та зробив це? Той, хто роди покликав віддавна: Я, Господь, перший, і з останніми Я той же Самий!

Who has prepared and done this, calling forth and guiding the destinies of the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord—the first and with the last —I am He.

5 Б ачили це острови та жахалися, кінці землі трипотіли, наближувались та приходили.

The islands and coastlands have seen and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They draw near and come;

6 О дин одному допомагає і говорить до брата свого: Будь міцний!

They help every one his neighbor and say to his brother, Be of good courage!

7 І підбадьорує майстер золотаря, а той, хто молотом гладить, того, хто б'є на ковадлі, і каже про споєння: Добре воно! і його зміцнює цвяхами, щоб не хиталось.

So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who smites the anvil, saying of the soldering, That is good! And he fastens it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

8 Т а ти, о Ізраїлю, рабе Мій, Якове, що Я тебе вибрав, насіння Авраама, друга Мого,

But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham My friend,

9 т и, якого Я взяв був із кінців землі та покликав тебе із окраїн її, і сказав був до тебе: Ти раб Мій, Я вибрав тебе й не відкинув тебе,

You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth and have called from the corners of it, and said to you, You are My servant—I have chosen you and not cast you off.

10 н е бійся, з тобою бо Я, і не озирайсь, бо Я Бог твій! Зміцню Я тебе, і тобі поможу, і правицею правди Своєї тебе Я підтримаю.

Fear not, for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My right hand of rightness and justice.

11 О тож, засоромляться та зніяковіють усі проти тебе запалені, стануть нічим та погинуть твої супротивники.

Behold, all they who are enraged and inflamed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; they who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish.

12 Ш укатимеш їх, але їх ти не знайдеш, своїх супротивників; стануть нічим та марнотою ті, хто провадить війну проти тебе.

You shall seek those who contend with you but shall not find them; they who war against you shall be as nothing, as nothing at all.

13 Б о Я Господь, Бог твій, що держить тебе за правицю й говорить до тебе: Не бійся, Я тобі поможу!

For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!

14 Н е бійся, ти Яковів черве, ти жменько Ізраїлева: Я тобі поможу, говорить Господь, і твій Викупитель Святий Ізраїлів!

Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

15 О сь зроблю Я тебе молотаркою гострою, новою, зубчастою, помолотиш ти гори та їх поторощиш, а підгірки половою вчиниш!

Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff.

16 П еревієш їх ти, й вітер їх рознесе, і буря їх розпорошить, і ти будеш утішатися Господом, будеш хвалитись Святим Ізраїлевим.

You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 У богі та бідні шукають води, та нема, язик їхній від прагнення висох, Я, Господь, і їх вислухаю, Бог Ізраїлів, не лишу їх!

The poor and needy are seeking water when there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 Я ріки відкрию на лисих горах, а джерела посеред долин, оберну Я пустиню на озеро водне, а землю суху на джерела!

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 Н а пустиню дам кедра, акацію, мирта й маслину, поставлю Я разом в степу кипариса та явора й бука,

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the wild olive; I will set the cypress in the desert, the plane and the pine together,

20 щ об разом побачили й знали, і пересвідчились та зрозуміли, що Господня рука це зробила, і створив це Святий Ізраїлів!

That men may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

21 П ринесіть свою справу, говорить Господь, припровадьте Мені свої докази, каже Цар Яковів.

Produce your cause, says the Lord. Bring forth your strong proofs, says the King of Jacob.

22 Х ай підійдуть і хай нам розкажуть, що трапиться! Виясніть справи минулі, що вони є, а ми серце наше на те покладемо й пізнаємо їхній кінець, або сповістіть про майбутнє.

Let them bring them forth and tell us what is to happen. Let them tell us the former things, what they are, that we may consider them and know the outcome of them; or declare to us the things to come.

23 Р озкажіть наперед про майбутнє, і пізнаємо ми, що ви боги. Отож, учиніть ви добро чи зробіть що лихе, щоб ми здивувались і разом побачили.

Tell us the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; yes, do good or do evil, that we may stare in astonishment and be dismayed as we behold together!

24 Т а ви менш від нічого, і менший ваш чин від марноти, гидота, хто вас вибирає!

Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothing! The worshiper who chooses you is an abomination.

25 Я з півночі мужа збудив і прийшов він, зо схід сонця в Ім'я Моє кличе, і він буде чавити князів, мов ту грязюку, й як ганчар глину топче!

I have raised up and impelled to action one from the north, and he comes; from the rising of the sun he calls upon My name. And he shall tread upon rulers and deputies as upon mortar and as the potter treads clay.

26 Х то сказав це віддавна, щоб знали те ми, і щоб наперед ми сказали: Це правда? Та ніхто не сказав, і ніхто не повів, і ніхто не почув ваших слів...

has declared this from the beginning, that we could know? And beforetime, that we could say that he is right? Yes, there is none who declares it, yes, there is none who proclaims it; yes, there is none who hears you speak!

27 Я перший сказав до Сіону: Оце, то вони! А Єрусалимові дам благовісника.

I first gave to Zion the announcement, Behold, behold them! And to Jerusalem I gave a herald bringing the good news.

28 І Я дивлюсь, та нікого нема, і немає між ними порадника, щоб відповіли, коли їх запитаю.

For I look and there is no man among them, and among these there is no counselor who, when I ask of him, can answer a word.

29 Т ож ніщо всі вони, їхні чини марнота, вітер та порожнеча їхні ідоли!

Behold, these are all emptiness (falseness and futility)! Their works are worthless; their molten images are empty wind (confusion and waste).
