1 Ц ар Навуходоносор зробив був золотого боввана, заввишки йому шістдесят ліктів, завширшки йому шість ліктів. Він поставив його в долині Дура в вавилонській окрузі.

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits or ninety feet and its breadth six cubits or nine feet. He set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.

2 І цар Навуходоносор послав зібрати сатрапів, заступників, підсатрапів, радників, суддів, вищих урядників та всіх округових володарів, щоб прийшли на посвячення боввана, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор.

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the satraps, the deputies, the governors, the judges and chief stargazers, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs and lawyers, and all the chief officials of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

3 Т ого часу зібралися сатрапи, заступники, підсатрапи, радники, скарбники, судді, вищі урядники та всі округові володарі, щоб посвятити боввана, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор, і поставали навпроти боввана, якого поставив Навуходоносор.

Then the satraps, the deputies, the governors, the judges and chief stargazers, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs and lawyers, and all the chief officials of the provinces were gathered together for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

4 А оповісник закликав лунким Голосом: До вас говориться, народи, люди та язики!

Then the herald cried aloud, You are commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,

5 Т ого часу, коли ви почуєте голос рога, сопілки, гітари, гусел, псалтиря, флейти та всілякого роду музику, падайте й поклоніться золотому бовванові, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор.

That when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, dulcimer or bagpipe, and every kind of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.

6 А той, хто не впаде й не поклониться, тієї хвилі буде вкинений до середини палахкотючої огненної печі.

And whoever does not fall down and worship shall that very hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

7 Т ому того часу, як усі народи почують голос рога, сопілки, гітари, гусел, псалтиря та всілякого роду музику, попадають всі народи, люди та язики, і поклоняться золотому бовванові, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор.

Therefore, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, dulcimer or bagpipe, and every kind of music, all the peoples, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

8 А цього часу наблизилися халдейські мужі, і доносили на юдеїв.

Therefore at that time certain men of Chaldean descent came near and brought accusations against the Jews.

9 В они заговорили та й сказали цареві Навуходоносорові: Царю, живи навіки!

They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live forever!

10 Т и царю, видав наказа, щоб кожен чоловік, хто почує голос рога, сопілки, гітари, гусел, псалтиря й флейти та всілякої музики, упав і поклонився золотому бовванові.

You, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, dulcimer or bagpipe, and every kind of music shall fall down and worship the golden image,

11 А той, хто не впаде й не поклониться, буде вкинений до середини палахкотючої огненної печі.

And that whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

12 Є юдейські мужі, яких ти призначив над справами вавилонської округи, Шадрах, Мешах та Авед-Неґо, ці мужі не звернули на тебе, царю, уваги: богам твоїм не служать, і золотому бовванові, якого ти поставив, не вклоняються.

There are certain Jews whom you have appointed and set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.

13 Т оді Навуходоносор у гніві та в лютості наказав привести Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо, і того часу цих людей привели перед царя.

Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; and these men were brought before the king.

14 Н авуходоносор заговорив та й сказав їм: Шадраху, Мешаху та Авед-Неґо, чи це правда, що ви моїм богам не служите, а золотому бовванові, якого я поставив, не вклоняєтеся?

Nebuchadnezzar said to them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Т епер, якщо ви готові, щоб того часу, коли почуєте голос рога, сопілки, гітари, гусел, псалтиря й флейти та всіляких родів музику, попадали й кланялися бовванові, якого я зробив. А якщо ви не поклонитеся, тієї години будете вкинені до середини палахкотючої огненної печі, і хто той Бог, що врятує вас від моїх рук?

Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, dulcimer or bagpipe, and every kind of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, very good. But if you do not worship, you shall be cast at once into the midst of a burning fiery furnace, and who is that god who can deliver you out of my hands?

16 Ш адрах, Мешах та Авед-Неґо відповіли та й сказали цареві Навуходоносорові: Ми не потребуємо відповідати тобі на це слово.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, it is not necessary for us to answer you on this point.

17 Я кщо наш Бог, Якому ми служимо, може врятувати нас з палахкотючої огненної печі, то Він урятує й з твоєї руки, о царю!

If our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

18 А якщо ні, нехай буде тобі, о царю, знане, що богам твоїм ми не служимо, а золотому бовванові, якого ти поставив, не будемо вклонятися!

But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up!

19 Т оді Навуходоносор переповнився лютістю, і вигляд його обличчя змінився проти Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо. Він відповів, і наказав напалити піч усемеро понад те, як повинно було напалити її.

Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury and his facial expression was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Therefore he commanded that the furnace should be heated seven times hotter than it was usually heated.

20 І він наказав хоробрим військовим мужам, що були в його війську, зв'язати Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо, щоб укинути до палахкотючої огненної печі.

And he commanded the strongest men in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Т ого часу ці мужі були пов'язані в своїх плащах, у своїх сорочках і в своїх шапках, і в своїх убраннях, і були повкидані до середини палахкотючої огненної печі.

Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics or undergarments, their turbans, and their other clothing, and they were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 А що слово царя було гостре, то піч напалена була надзвичайно сильно, так що тих мужів, що підіймали, щоб укинути Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо, забило їх огняне полум'я.

Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame and sparks from the fire killed those men who handled Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23 А ці три мужі, Шадрах, Мешах та Авед-Неґо, упали до середини палахкотючої огненної печі пов'язані.

And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the burning fiery furnace.

24 Т оді цар Навуходоносор здивувався, і поспішно встав, заговорив та й сказав до своїх радників: Чи ж не трьох зв'язаних мужів ми кинули до середини огню? Ті відповіли та й сказали цареві: Певне, царю!

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded, and he jumped up and said to his counselors, Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered, True, O king.

25 В ін відповів та й сказав: Таж я бачу чотирьох мужів непов'язаних, що ходять посеред огню, і шкоди їм нема, а вигляд того четвертого подібний до Божого сина!

He answered, Behold, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt! And the form of the fourth is like a son of the gods!

26 Т оді Навуходоносор наблизився до челюстів палахкотючої огненної печі, заговорив та й сказав: Шадраху, Мешаху та Авед-Неґо, раби Його, Бога Всевишнього, вийдіть і прийдіть! Тоді Шадрах, Мешах та Авед-Неґо вийшли з середини огню.

Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come out and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the midst of the fire.

27 І зібралися сатрапи, заступники, і підсатрапи, і цареві радники, та й побачили тих мужів, що огонь не мав сили над їхнім тілом, і не опалився волос їхньої голови, і їхні плащі не змінилися, і запах огню не ввійшов у них.

And the satraps, the deputies, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered around together and saw these men—that the fire had no power upon their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed; neither were their garments scorched or changed in color or condition, nor had even the smell of smoke clung to them.

28 Н авуходоносор заговорив та й сказав: Благословенний Бог Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо, що послав Свого Ангола, і врятував Своїх рабів, які надіялися на Нього. І вони не послухалися царського слова, і дали свої тіла на огонь, аби не служити й не кланятися іншому богові, крім Бога свого.

Then Nebuchadnezzar said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who believed in, trusted in, and relied on Him! And they set aside the king’s command and yielded their bodies rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

29 А тепер від мене видається наказ, що кожен з народу, люду та язика, який скаже що згірдливе на Бога Шадраха, Мешаха та Авед-Неґо, буде почетвертований, а дім його обернений буде на сміття, бо немає іншого Бога, що міг би так урятувати, як оце.

Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, and language that speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in pieces and their houses be made a dunghill, for there is no other God who can deliver in this way!

30 Т ого часу цар зробив, щоб добре велося Шадрахові, Мешахові та Авед-Неґові в вавилонській окрузі.

Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
