1 Б ог помсти Господь, Бог помсти з'явився,

O Lord God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, O God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

2 п іднесися, о Судде землі, бундючним заплату віддай!

Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render to the proud a fit compensation!

3 А ж доки безбожні, о Господи, аж доки безбожні втішатися будуть?

Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph and exult?

4 Д оки будуть верзти, говорити бундючно, доки будуть пишатись злочинці?

They pour out arrogant words, speaking hard things; all the evildoers boast loftily.

5 В они тиснуть народ Твій, о Господи, а спадок Твій вони мучать...

They crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.

6 В дову та чужинця вбивають вони, і мордують сиріт

They slay the widow and the transient stranger and murder the unprotected orphan.

7 т а й говорять: Не бачить Господь, і не завважить Бог Яковів...

Yet they say, The Lord does not see, neither does the God of Jacob notice it.

8 З розумійте це ви, нерозумні в народі, а ви, убогі на розум, коли наберетеся глузду?

Consider and understand, you stupid ones among the people! And you fools, when will you become wise?

9 Х іба Той, що ухо щепив, чи Він не почує? Хіба Той, що око створив, чи Він не побачить?

He Who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He Who formed the eye, shall He not see?

10 Х іба Той, що карає народи, чи Він не скартає, Він, що навчає людину знання?

He Who disciplines and instructs the nations, shall He not punish, He Who teaches man knowledge?

11 Г осподь знає всі людські думки, що марнота вони!

The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile—only a breath).

12 Б лаженний той муж, що його Ти караєш, о Господи, і з Закону Свого навчаєш його,

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

13 щ об його заспокоїти від лиходення, аж поки не викопана буде яма безбожному,

That You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.

14 б о Господь не опустить народу Свого, а спадку Свого не полишить,

For the Lord will not cast off nor spurn His people, neither will He abandon His heritage.

15 б о до праведности суд повернеться, а за ним всі невинного серця!

For justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Х то встане зо мною навпроти злостивих, хто встане зо мною навпроти злочинців?

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17 К оли б не Господь мені в поміч, то душа моя трохи була б не лягла в царство смерти!...

Unless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in silence.

18 К оли я кажу: Похитнулась нога моя, то, Господи, милість Твоя підпирає мене!

When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

19 К оли мої думки болючі в нутрі моїм множаться, то розради Твої веселять мою душу!

In the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!

20 Ч и престол беззаконня з Тобою з'єднається, той, що гріх учиняє над право?

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You—they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under law?

21 З бираються проти душі справедливого, і чисту кров винуватять.

They band themselves together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

22 і Господь став для мене твердинею, і мій Бог став за скелю притулку мого,

But the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

23 і Він їхню силу на них повернув, і злом їхнім їх нищить, їх нищить Господь, Бог наш!

And He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.
