1 Д авидів. Господь моє світло й спасіння моє, кого буду боятись? Господь то твердиня мого життя, кого буду лякатись?

The Lord is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

2 К оли будуть зближатись до мене злочинці, щоб жерти їм тіло моє, мої напасники та мої вороги, вони спотикнуться й попадають!...

When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 к оли проти мене розложиться табір, то серце моє не злякається, коли проти мене повстане війна, я надіятись буду на те, на поміч Його!

Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 О дного прошу я від Господа, буду жадати того, щоб я міг пробувати в Господньому домі по всі дні свого життя, щоб я міг оглядати Господню приємність і в храмі Його пробувати!

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

5 б о Він заховає мене дня нещастя в Своїй скинії, сховає мене потаємно в Своєму наметі, на скелю мене проведе!

For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

6 А тепер піднесеться моя голова понад ворогами моїми навколо мене, і я в Його скинії буду приносити жертви при відзвуках сурм, і я буду співати та грати Господеві!

And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

7 П очуй, Господи, голос мій, коли кличу, і помилуй мене, і озвися до мене!

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be gracious to me and answer me!

8 З а Тебе промовило серце моє: Шукайте Мого лиця! тому, Господи, буду шукати обличчя Твого:

You have said, Seek My face. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require.

9 н е ховай же від мене обличчя Свого, у гніві Свого раба не відкинь! Ти був мені поміч, не кидай мене, і не лишай мене, Боже спасіння мого,

Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!

10 б о мій батько та мати моя мене кинули, та Господь прийме мене!

Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up.

11 Д орогу Свою покажи мені, Господи, і провадь мене стежкою рівною, ради моїх ворогів!

Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies.

12 Н е видай мене на сваволю моїх ворогів, бо повстали на мене ті свідки облудні та неправдомовці,

Give me not up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me; they breathe out cruelty and violence.

13 н емов би не вірував я, що в країні життя я побачу Господнє добро!

had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!

14 Н адійся на Господа, будь сильний, і хай буде міцне твоє серце, і надійся на Господа!

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
