1 D omnul este lumina şi mântuirea mea; de cine să mă tem? Domnul este refugiul vieţii mele; de cine să-mi fie frică?

The Lord is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

2 C ând se apropie răufăcătorii de mine ca să-mi devoreze carnea, tocmai ei, asupritorii şi duşmanii mei, se poticnesc şi cad.

When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 C hiar dacă ar înainta o oştire împotriva mea, inima mea tot nu s-ar teme; chiar dacă s-ar porni război împotriva mea, chiar şi atunci aş fi încrezător.

Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 U n singur lucru cer de la Domnul şi-l caut cu stăruinţă: să locuiesc în Casa Domnului în toate zilele vieţii mele, ca să privesc frumuseţea Domnului şi să-L caut în Templul Lui,

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

5 c ăci El mă va tăinui în Coliba Sa în ziua cea rea, mă va ascunde în locul tainic al Cortului Său şi mă va înălţa pe o stâncă.

For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

6 D eja mi se înalţă capul deasupra duşmanilor care mă împresoară; de aceea voi aduce la Cortul Lui jertfe în sunet de trâmbiţă, voi cânta şi Îl voi lăuda pe Domnul.

And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

7 D oamne, ascultă-mi glasul când Te chem, îndură-te de mine şi răspunde-mi!

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be gracious to me and answer me!

8 I nima îmi spune din partea Ta: „Caută faţa Mea!“ Doamne, faţa Ta o caut!

You have said, Seek My face. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require.

9 N u-Ţi ascunde faţa de mine, nu îndepărta cu mânie pe robul Tău! Tu eşti ajutorul meu! Nu mă da uitării şi nu mă părăsi, Dumnezeul mântuirii mele!

Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!

10 C hiar dacă tatăl meu şi mama mea m-ar părăsi, Domnul m-ar primi.

Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up.

11 D oamne, învaţă-mă calea Ta, condu-mă pe cărarea cea netedă, din pricina duşmanilor mei!

Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies.

12 N u-mi da sufletul pe mâna vrăjmaşilor mei, căci împotriva mea se ridică nişte martori mincinoşi care suflă numai violenţă.

Give me not up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me; they breathe out cruelty and violence.

13 E u încă mai cred un lucru: că voi vedea bunătatea Domnului pe pământul celor vii!

had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!

14 N ădăjduieşte în Domnul! Fii tare şi încurajează-ţi inima! Nădăjduieşte în Domnul!

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
