1 F erice de cel ce îngrijeşte de sărac, căci Domnul îl va scăpa în ziua cea rea.

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is he who considers the weak and the poor; the Lord will deliver him in the time of evil and trouble.

2 D omnul îl va păzi, îl va ţine în viaţă, îl va binecuvânta în ţară şi nu-l va lăsa la bunul plac al duşmanilor lui.

The Lord will protect him and keep him alive; he shall be called blessed in the land; and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

3 D omnul îl va întări când va fi pe patul de suferinţă, iar patul în care suferea va fi strâns.

The Lord will sustain, refresh, and strengthen him on his bed of languishing; all his bed You will turn, change, and transform in his illness.

4 C ât despre mine, eu am zis: „ Doamne, ai milă de mine!“ Vindecă-mă, căci am păcătuit împotriva Ta!

I said, Lord, be merciful and gracious to me; heal my inner self, for I have sinned against You.

5 D uşmanii mei vorbesc despre mine cu răutate, spunând: „Când va muri şi-i va pieri numele?“

My enemies speak evil of me,, When will he die and his name perish?

6 C hiar dacă vine vreunul să mă vadă, grăieşte făţarnic, în timp ce inima lui adună duşmănie pe care o împrăştie când iese afară.

And when one comes to see me, he speaks falsehood and empty words, while his heart gathers mischievous gossip; when he goes away, he tells it abroad.

7 P otrivnicii mei şuşotesc cu toţii împotriva mea şi gândesc ce e mai rău pentru mine.

All who hate me whisper together about me; against me do they devise my hurt.

8 „ O boală necruţătoare l-a atins! Nu se va mai scula din locul în care s-a culcat!“

An evil disease, say they, is poured out upon him and cleaves fast to him; and now that he is bedfast, he will not rise up again.

9 C hiar şi prietenul apropiat în care m-am încrezut, cel ce mănâncă pâinea mea, şi-a ridicat călcâiul împotriva mea!

Even my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted (relied on and was confident), who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

10 T u însă, Doamne, ai milă de mine! Ridică-mă, ca să le dau răsplata cuvenită!

But You, O Lord, be merciful and gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 V oi şti că-Ţi găseşti plăcerea în mine prin aceea că duşmanul meu nu va triumfa asupra mea.

By this I know that You favor and delight in me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

12 C ât despre mine, Tu mă sprijini în integritatea mea şi mă aşezi în prezenţa Ta pe vecie.

And as for me, You have upheld me in my integrity and set me in Your presence forever.

13 B inecuvântat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, din veşnicie în veşnicie. Amin! Amin!

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting! Amen and Amen (so be it).
