1 Î nainte de toate, te îndemn să faci cereri, rugăciuni, mijlociri şi mulţumiri pentru toţi oamenii,

First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,

2 p entru împăraţi şi pentru toţi cei ce sunt în poziţii înalte, ca să putem duce o viaţă paşnică şi liniştită, cu toată evlavia şi demnitatea.

For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.

3 A cest lucru este bun şi bine primit înaintea lui Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul nostru,

For such is good and right, and pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,

4 C are doreşte ca toţi oamenii să fie mântuiţi şi să vină la cunoaşterea adevărului.

Who wishes all men to be saved and to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the Truth.

5 C ăci este un singur Dumnezeu şi un singur Mijlocitor între Dumnezeu şi oameni: Omul Cristos Isus,

For there one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

6 C are S-a dat pe Sine Însuşi ca răscumpărare pentru toţi – despre aceasta s-a depus mărturie la timpul potrivit.

Who gave Himself as a ransom for all attested to at the right and proper time.

7 P entru aceasta am fost pus predicator, apostol – spun adevărul, nu mint – şi învăţător al neamurilor în credinţă şi adevăr.

And of this matter I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (special messenger)—I am speaking the truth in Christ, I do not falsify —a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8 V reau deci ca bărbaţii să se roage în orice loc, ridicând spre cer mâini sfinte, fără mânie şi fără ceartă.

I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt, lifting up holy hands.

9 F emeile, de asemenea, vreau să se îmbrace în haine decente, cu modestie şi cumpătare, nu cu împletituri ale părului, nici cu aur sau cu mărgăritare, sau cu haine scumpe,

Also that women should adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with hair arrangement or gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

10 c i cu fapte bune, aşa cum se cuvine unor femei care se declară pioase.

But by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them), as befits women who profess reverential fear for and devotion to God.

11 O femeie să înveţe în tăcere, cu toată supunerea.

Let a woman learn in quietness, in entire submissiveness.

12 N u dau voie femeii să înveţe sau să aibă autoritate asupra bărbatului, ci să stea în tăcere.

I allow no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to remain in quietness and keep silence.

13 C ăci Adam a fost întocmit mai întâi, apoi Eva.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve;

14 Ş i nu Adam a fost înşelat, ci femeia a fost înşelată şi a căzut în neascultare.

And it was not Adam who was deceived, but woman who was deceived and deluded and fell into transgression.

15 T otuşi ea va fi mântuită prin naşterea de copii, dacă rămâne în credinţă, în dragoste şi în sfinţenie, alături de cumpătare.

Nevertheless they will be saved if they continue in faith and love and holiness with self-control, through the Childbearing or by the birth of the divine Child.
