1 « Ascultaţi-Mă, voi, care urmăriţi dreptatea, voi, care-L căutaţi pe Domnul! Priviţi spre stânca din care aţi fost ciopliţi şi spre groapa din care aţi fost scoşi!

Hearken to Me, you who follow after rightness and justice, you who seek and inquire of the Lord: look to the rock from which you were hewn and to the hole in the quarry from which you were dug;

2 U itaţi-vă la Avraam, părintele vostru, şi la Sara care v-a născut! Când l-am chemat, era doar el singur, dar Eu l-am binecuvântat şi l-am înmulţit!

Look to Abraham your father and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him when he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many.

3 T ot astfel Domnul va mângâia Sionul, va mângâia toate ruinele lui; îi va face pustia ca Edenul, şi deşertul asemenea grădinii Domnului: bucurie şi veselie se vor afla în el, mulţumire şi cântec.

For the Lord will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places. And He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song or instrument of praise.

4 A scultă-Mă, poporul Meu! Ia aminte la ce spun, neamul Meu, pentru că Legea va ieşi de la Mine, iar dreptatea Mea o voi face o lumină pentru popoare!

Listen to Me, O My people, and give ear to Me, O My nation; for a law will go forth from Me, and I will establish My justice for a light to the peoples.

5 D reptatea Mea se apropie, mântuirea Mea se arată, iar braţul Meu este pe cale să judece popoarele; ţinuturile de lângă mare aşteaptă şi nădăjduiesc în braţul Meu.

My rightness and justice are near, My salvation is going forth, and My arms shall rule the peoples; the islands shall wait for and expect Me, and on My arm shall they trust and wait with hope.

6 R idicaţi-vă ochii spre ceruri şi priviţi în jos spre pământ! Căci cerurile se vor risipi ca fumul, pământul se va învechi ca o haină, iar cei ce trăiesc pe el vor muri ca ţânţarii. Mântuirea Mea însă va dăinui pururi şi dreptatea Mea nu va avea sfârşit.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall be dissolved and vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner. But My salvation shall be forever, and My rightness and justice shall not be abolished.

7 A scultaţi-Mă, voi, care cunoaşteţi dreptatea, tu, popor, care ai în inimă Legea Mea! Nu te teme de ocara oamenilor, nu-ţi fie frică de insultele lor,

Listen to Me, you who know rightness and justice and right standing with God, the people in whose heart is My law and My instruction: fear not the reproach of men, neither be afraid nor dismayed at their revilings.

8 c ăci îi va mânca molia ca pe o haină, viermele îi va mânca aşa cum mănâncă lâna. Dreptatea Mea însă va dăinui pururea, iar mântuirea Mea va fi pentru toate generaţiile.»

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool. But My rightness and justice shall be forever, and My salvation to all generations.

9 T rezeşte-Te! Trezeşte-Te! Îmbracă-Te în putere, braţ al Domnului! Trezeşte-Te ca în zilele din vechime, ca în generaţiile de demult! Nu eşti Tu Acela Care l-ai tăiat pe Rahab în bucăţi, Care ai străpuns monstrul Tanin ?

Awake, awake, put on strength and might, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, as in the generations of long ago. Was it not You Who cut Rahab in pieces, Who pierced the dragon ?

10 N u eşti Tu Acela Care ai uscat marea, apele marelui adânc, Care ai făcut un drum în adâncurile mării, pentru ca cei răscumpăraţi să treacă?

Was it not You Who dried up the Red Sea, the waters of the great deep, Who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?

11 R ăscumpăraţii Domnului se vor întoarce şi vor intra în Sion cu strigăte de bucurie. O bucurie veşnică le va încununa capetele; bucuria şi veselia îi vor copleşi, iar necazul şi suspinul vor fugi de la ei.

And the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing to Zion; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

12 « Eu, chiar Eu sunt Cel Ce te mângâi! De ce te temi, atunci, de omul cel muritor, de fiul omului care trece ca iarba,

I, even I, am He Who comforts you. Who are you, that you should be afraid of man, who shall die, and of a son of man, who shall be made as grass,

13 u itând astfel de Domnul, Creatorul tău, Care a desfăşurat cerurile şi a pus temeliile pământului şi îngrozindu-te toată ziua de mânia asupritorului, care umblă să nimicească? Unde este mânia asupritorului?

That you should forget the Lord your Maker, Who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, and fear continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he makes ready to destroy or even though he did so? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

14 C el subjugat va fi eliberat curând; el nu va muri în temniţă, nici nu-i va lipsi pâinea.

The captive exile and he who is bent down by chains shall speedily be released; and he shall not die and go down to the pit of destruction, nor shall his food fail.

15 C ăci Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, Cel Care stârneşte marea şi face să-i urle valurile – Domnul Oştirilor este Numele Său.

For I am the Lord your God, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar and Who by rebuke restrains it—the Lord of hosts is His name.

16 A m pus cuvintele Mele în gura ta şi te-am acoperit cu umbra mâinii Mele, ca să aşez cerurile, să pun temeliile pământului şi să zic Sionului: ‘Tu eşti poporul Meu!’» Cupa mâniei Domnului

And I have put My words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, that I may fix the heavens as a tabernacle and lay the foundations of a earth and say to Zion, You are My people.

17 T rezeşte-te! Trezeşte-te! Ridică-te, Ierusalime, tu, care ai băut din mâna Domnului cupa mâniei Lui, care ai sorbit până la drojdii potirul ameţelii!

Arouse yourself, awake! Stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of His wrath, you who have drunk the cup of staggering and intoxication to the dregs.

18 Î ntre toţi fiii pe care i-a născut, nu este nici unul care să-l călăuzească; între toţi fiii pe care i-a crescut, nu este nici unul care să-l apuce de mână.

There is none to guide her among all the sons she has borne; neither is there anyone to take her by the hand among all the sons whom she has brought up.

19 A ceste două nenorociri au venit peste tine: pustiirea şi nimicirea, foametea şi sabia. Cine mai poate să plângă pentru tine? Cine te mai poate mângâia?

Two kinds of calamities have befallen you—but who feels sorry for and commiserates you?—they are desolation and destruction, and famine and sword —how shall I comfort you or by whom?

20 F iii tăi zac leşinaţi la fiecare colţ de uliţă, ca o antilopă prinsă în laţ; sunt plini de mânia Domnului şi de mustrarea Dumnezeului tău.

Your sons have fainted; they lie at the head of all the streets, like an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of the Lord, the rebuke of your God.

21 D e aceea, ascultă aceasta, tu, care eşti asuprit, tu, care eşti beat, dar nu de vin!

Therefore, now hear this, you who are afflicted, and drunk, but not with wine.

22 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul tău, Domnul şi Dumnezeul tău, Apărătorul poporului Său: «Iată, ţi-am luat din mână cupa ameţelii, iar din potirul mâniei Mele nu vei mai bea vreodată!

Thus says your Lord, the Lord, and your God, Who pleads the cause of His people: Behold, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering and intoxication; the cup of My wrath you shall drink no more.

23 O voi pune în mâna celor ce te chinuie, a celor care ţi-au zis: ‘Apleacă-te, ca să putem călca peste tine!’ Ţi-ai făcut atunci spatele ca pământul şi ca un drum pe care ei să umble!»

And I will put it into the hands of your tormentors and oppressors, those who said to you, Bow down, that we may ride or tread over you; and you have made your back like the ground and like the street for them to pass over.
