It is a good and delightful thing to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to Your name, O Most High,

2 s ă se vestească dimineaţa îndurarea Ta şi credincioşia Ta – noaptea,

To show forth Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night,

3 c u lira cea cu zece corzi, cu harfa şi în sunet de liră.

With an instrument of ten strings and with the lute, with a solemn sound upon the lyre.

4 C ăci Tu mă înveseleşti, Doamne, prin ceea ce înfăptuieşti; la lucrările mâinilor Tale strig de bucurie!

For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing.

5 C e măreţe sunt lucrările Tale, Doamne! Cât de adânci sunt gândurile Tale!

How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.

6 O mul fără minte nu cunoaşte acest lucru şi nebunul nu-l înţelege.

A man in his rude and uncultivated state knows not, neither does a fool understand this:

7 C ei răi înmuguresc ca iarba şi toţi cei ce săvârşesc nelegiuirea înfloresc, dar numai ca să fie nimiciţi pe vecie.

That though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to be destroyed forever.

8 Î nsă Tu, Doamne, eşti înălţat pe vecie!

But You, Lord, are on high forever.

9 D uşmanii Tăi, Doamne, duşmanii Tăi pier! Sunt îndepărtaţi toţi cei ce săvârşesc nelegiuirea!

For behold, Your adversaries, O Lord, for behold, Your enemies shall perish; all the evildoers shall be scattered.

10 M ie însă îmi înalţi puterea ca bivolului sălbatic; sunt uns cu uleiuri proaspete.

But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil.

11 O chii mei au văzut pedepsirea duşmanilor mei, iar urechile mele au auzit zdrobirea celor răi care se ridicau împotriva mea.

My eye looks upon those who lie in wait for me; my ears hear the evildoers that rise up against me.

12 C el drept înmugureşte ca palmierul şi creşte ca cedrul din Liban.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 C ei sădiţi în Casa Domnului, înmuguresc în curţile Dumnezeului nostru.

Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 E i rodesc până la bătrâneţe, sunt plini de miez şi de verdeaţă,

they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and verdure.

15 c a să se facă de cunoscut că Domnul este drept. Stânca mea! În El nu există nedreptate!

to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
