1 I t is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

2 t o shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
To show forth Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night,
3 u pon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4 F or thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing.
5 O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
A man in his rude and uncultivated state knows not, neither does a fool understand this:
7 W hen the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
That though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to be destroyed forever.
8 b ut thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.
But You, Lord, are on high forever.
9 F or, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
For behold, Your adversaries, O Lord, for behold, Your enemies shall perish; all the evildoers shall be scattered.
10 B ut my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil.
11 M ine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
My eye looks upon those who lie in wait for me; my ears hear the evildoers that rise up against me.
12 T he righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 T hose that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 T hey shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and verdure.
15 t o shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
