1 H ear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, and in Your righteousness.

2 A nd enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

And enter not into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no man living is righteous or justified.

3 F or the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

For the enemy has pursued and persecuted my soul, he has crushed my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in dark places as those who have been long dead.

4 T herefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed and faints within me; my heart within my bosom grows numb.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your doings; I ponder the work of Your hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

I spread forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts after You like a thirsty land. Selah!

7 H ear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

Answer me speedily, O Lord, for my spirit fails; hide not Your face from me, lest I become like those who go down into the pit (the grave).

8 C ause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.

9 D eliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; I flee to You to hide me.

10 T each me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me into a level country and into the land of uprightness.

11 Q uicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

Save my life, O Lord, for Your name’s sake; in Your righteousness, bring my life out of trouble and free me from distress.

12 A nd of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

And in your mercy and loving-kindness, cut off my enemies and destroy all those who afflict my inner self, for I am Your servant.
