1 D oamne, aminteşte-Ţi de David şi de toate necazurile lui,

Lord, remember to David’s credit all his humiliations and hardships and endurance—

2 d e cel ce I-a jurat Domnului, cel ce I-a făcut un jurământ Puternicului lui Iacov:

How he swore to the Lord and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 „ Nu voi intra în cortul căminului meu, nici nu mă voi sui în aşternutul patului meu,

Surely I will not enter my dwelling house or get into my bed—

4 n u voi da somn ochilor mei, nici aţipire pleoapelor mele,

I will not permit my eyes to sleep or my eyelids to slumber,

5 p ână când nu voi găsi un loc pentru Domnul, un Lăcaş pentru Puternicul lui Iacov“.

Until I have found a place for the Lord, a habitation for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6 „ Iată, noi am auzit despre el în Efrata şi l-am găsit pe terenurile împădurite.

Behold, at Ephratah we heard of; we found it in the fields of the wood.

7 S ă mergem la Lăcaşul Lui, să ne închinăm la picioarele tronului Său!“

Let us go into His tabernacle; let us worship at His footstool.

8 R idică-Te, Doamne, şi vino în locul Tău de odihnă, Tu şi chivotul tăriei Tale!

Arise, O Lord, to Your resting-place, You and the ark of Your strength.

9 P reoţii Tăi să se îmbrace cu dreptate, iar credincioşii Tăi să strige de bucurie.

Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness (right living and right standing with God); and let Your saints shout for joy!

10 D in pricina lui David, robul Tău, nu-Ţi întoarce faţa de la unsul Tău!

For Your servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of Your anointed and reject not Your own king.

11 D omnul i-a jurat lui David adevărul şi nu se va răzgândi: „Îl voi pune pe tronul tău pe unul dintre urmaşii tăi.

The Lord swore to David in truth; He will not turn back from it: One of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

12 D acă fiii tăi vor păzi legământul Meu şi mărturiile Mele, pe care îi voi învăţa, atunci chiar şi fiii lor vor sta pe tronul tău pentru totdeauna“.

If your children will keep My covenant and My testimony that I shall teach them, their children also shall sit upon your throne forever.

13 D omnul a ales Sionul, El a dorit să locuiască acolo.

For the Lord has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His habitation:

14 „ Acesta este locul Meu de odihnă pentru totdeauna. Aici voi locui, căci l-am dorit.

This is My resting-place forever; here will I dwell, for I have desired it.

15 Î i voi binecuvânta din belşug hrana şi-i voi sătura cu pâine săracii.

I will surely and abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 Î i voi îmbrăca preoţii cu mântuire, iar credincioşii lui vor striga de bucurie.

Her priests also will I clothe with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 A colo îi voi ridica lui David un urmaş şi-i voi aprinde o candelă unsului Meu.

There will I make a horn spring forth and bud for David; I have ordained and prepared a lamp for My anointed.

18 Î i voi îmbrăca duşmanii cu ruşine, dar pe fruntea lui va străluci coroana.“

His enemies will I clothe with shame, but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
