1 V ai de tine, ţară în care se aude fâlfâit de aripi, ţară de dincolo de râurile lui Cuş,

Woe to the land whirring with wings which is beyond the rivers of Cush or Ethiopia,

2 ţ ară care-ţi trimiţi solii pe calea apei, în corăbii de papirus! Duceţi-vă, soli iuţi! Duceţi-vă la un neam înalt şi cu pielea netedă, la un popor temut aproape şi departe, la un neam puternic şi cuceritor, a cărei ţară e străbătută de râuri!

3 V oi toţi, locuitori ai lumii, toţi care locuiţi pământul, când se ridică steagul pe munţi, să luaţi aminte! Când sună cornul, să ascultaţi!

7 Î n vremea aceea, un popor înalt şi cu pielea netedă, temut aproape şi departe, un neam puternic şi cuceritor, a cărei ţară e străbătută de râuri, va aduce daruri Domnului Oştirilor la muntele Sion, locul Numelui Domnului Oştirilor.“
