1 ¡ Ay de la tierra que hace sombra con las alas, que está tras los ríos de Etiopía!

Woe to the land whirring with wings which is beyond the rivers of Cush or Ethiopia,

2 E l que envía mensajeros por el mar, y en navíos de junco sobre las aguas. Andad, ligeros mensajeros, a la gente arrastrada, y repelada; al pueblo lleno de temores desde su principio, y después; gente harta de esperar y hollada; cuya tierra destruyeron los ríos.

That sends ambassadors by the Nile, even in vessels of papyrus upon the waters! Go, you swift messengers, to a nation tall and polished, to a people terrible from their beginning, a nation strong and victorious, whose land the rivers divide!

3 T odos los moradores del mundo, y los vecinos de la tierra, cuando levantare bandera como ejemplo en los montes, la veréis; y cuando tocare shofar, la oiréis.

All you inhabitants of the world, you who dwell on the earth, when a signal is raised on the mountains—look! When a trumpet is blown—hear!

4 P orque el SEÑOR me dijo así: me reposaré, y miraré desde mi morada; como sol claro después de la lluvia, y como nube cargada de rocío en el calor de la siega.

For thus the Lord has said to me: I will be still and I will look on from My dwelling place, like clear and glowing heat in sunshine, like a fine cloud of mist in the heat of harvest.

5 P orque antes de la siega, cuando el fruto fuere perfecto, y pasada la flor, los frutos fueren maduros, entonces podará con podaderas las ramitas; y cortará y quitará las ramas.

For before the harvest, when the blossom is over and the flower becomes a ripening grape, He will cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and the spreading branches He will remove and cut away.

6 Y serán dejados todos a las aves de los montes, y a las bestias de la tierra; sobre ellos tendrán el verano las aves; e invernarán todas las bestias de la tierra.

They shall be left together to the ravenous birds of the mountains and to the beasts of the earth; and the ravenous birds will summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth will winter upon them.

7 E n aquel tiempo será traído presente al SEÑOR de los ejércitos, el pueblo arrastrado y repelado; el pueblo lleno de temores desde su principio y después; gente harta de esperar y hollada, cuya tierra destruyeron los ríos, al lugar del nombre del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, al Monte de Sion.

At that time shall a present be brought to the Lord of hosts from a people tall and polished, from a people terrible from their beginning and feared and dreaded near and far, a nation strong and victorious, whose land the rivers or great channels divide—to the place of the Name of the Lord of hosts, to Mount Zion.
